Hello everybody. As you can see in this thread, a certain something happened in the very last post that will have you asking some questions about Banik Kelrada.
To coincide with this, I'm officially announcing that Banik Kelrada will no longer be the Emperor of the Bogan and, along with that, I'm stepping down as the Bogan faction leader. The simplest answer for "Why?" would be that anytime I'm a faction leader, there's a point where I hit a wall and being the faction leader is no longer fun for me but instead feels like a chore. I'm beginning to feel closer to that point.
Rather than staying in the hopes that I feel re-energized again, I'm going to step down now. It's not fair to string everyone else in the faction along just because I want to say I'm the Bogan faction leader, so it's only right that I step down.
I want to enjoy my characters like everyone else does, and sometimes there are some things I want to do with Banik that would be at the expense of the Bogan, and while that's interesting story telling the faction itself deserves someone committed to the faction as a whole rather than just their own character. I've tried my best to balance both, and I hope I have, but it comes down more to not wanting to have to balance anymore and, therefore, not wanting to make you endure my own plans at the expense of the faction.
So that's basically that. It's been more or less fun for me, and I've enjoyed working with all of you. The idea for making the Bogan Empire wasn't mine, but it was something I felt was very important for the long-term viability of this faction. There's now an army of billions and a navy with hundreds of ships. It has an entire sector under its domain. We've come a long way.
I also hope that with Banik at the helm, the Bogan have been given a bit of a direction -- not just destruction of the Jedi because the Bogan are evil, but because of what the Jedi did on Ossus. I hope I've reawaken some of the spirit of the Ospion to go after the Jedi because they did something wrong to the Jedi who left and ultimately formed the Dark Jedi of the Bogan in the first place. It makes the war more meaningful in my view.
With that, I would like to tell you that there's an official faction leader taking my place, but there's not. For now, Ols will be the interim faction leader until we find a new one. Not with Violet Tempest, because both Elijha Oderyn (Johnny) and Violet Tempest will also be leaving the faction, but with his Count of Serenno.
The Count will be the new High Lord and acting Emperor until a new Emperor is put in place. More information about the new Emperor will be coming in a week or two, but for now please treat Ols as if he is your faction leader with the same respect you would give to anyone else. His decisions and his actions are that of a faction leader regardless of whether it's a temporary status, and I know he'll do a fantastic job regardless of his length of service.
That said, he didn't know I was going to do this tonight, so my resignation is effective when he says he's good to go.
Now, one final question I'm sure you all have: OMG is Banik dead?! Keep on reading The Story. :)
