I wanted to get it, but I've always been a big canon...purist I guess is the word. So once the new canon started, I really just started reading what was now canon.

Yeah i felt like that too, but honestly I think these stories should not be passed up, just because they are really good and show a side of the Star Wars universe you won't get to see in the movies, wether the main story is canon or not, there is a lot to learn about Star Wars from these books I think. Unfortunately I started late and now they aren't canon :).

Good news is they are bringing some EU stuff into the new canon. Have you seen the mid-season trailer for the second half of Rebels? They're bringing in some stuff from the Knights of the Old Republic games, and more crossguard lightsabers like Kylo's.

I actually haven't watched Rebels, I wasn't sure if it was any good... is it?
