DESCRIPTION
The 4EY series is a model of personal scout droid manufactured by the Ferroprol Corporation. Designed for use by independent scouts and small-scale expeditions, the 4EY packs an exceedingly useful sensor suite into a small, mobile package. Though short of the load-out carried by a full probe droid, it is smaller and nimbler than larger droids, and is light enough to be easily carried by the average humanoid in situations that call for it.4EYs are not designed as independent models, but rather are meant to act in close cooperation with a larger organic or droid partner, scouting ahead on rough terrain and acting as a mobile scanner pack for investigating unusual or dangerous discoveries. The droid is bipedal, able to move at high speed when necessary; if called for, it can fold up its legs and be carried, forming into a roughly backpack-sized cylindrical bundle. Aside from its scanners, the 4EY incorporates a number of useful tools, including a spotlight, a pair of magnetic feet for gripping metallic surfaces, and standard computer probe and I/O socket, a reader socket for datacards, an integrated comlink, a defensive spark projector and a small, 1 kilogram capacity equipment hopper, often used by independent scouts to hold important items such as emergency medical supplies.
4EY-series droids are curious, talkative and hyperactive out of the box, although examples left without regular memory wipes will often develop more distinct personality. Like most small droids, 4EY are only able to communicate in droidspeak, although they understand most organics well enough.
