A question on ranks

I never thought about this until now, so I'm curious. When making Jedi (or Dark Jedi) characters, you can only give your character, unless you choose the rank of Padawan, the last rank you achieved with any other character. For example, if the highest rank you achieved with a Jedi was Knight, you can't create a Master until you RP a Knight into Masterhood first.

But my question is: does this rule apply to the Shade Order and/or Dark Jedi? For example, if you have a Jedi Knight, can you make a Dark Jedi Knight or a Shade Knight, or must you be trained by a Shade Knight or Dark Jedi Knight and go through the process?

The ranks don't work like that. You must start as the lowest rank in any faction unless you ask the faction leader and they give you permission. For example, if you have a Jedi Master and want to create another Jedi char, unless you ask matt, you must create a padawan. If you have a General in the Republic and you want to create an officer, unless you have permission from me you start out as an Officer Cadet. Same for all factions, both major and independent.
