Only a week to go until the Aftermath trilogy is complete. :)
Who else is looking forward to Aftermath:Empire's End?

Do you think that Rax will be revealed as being the same person as Snoke?

Once you have bought the novel, feel free to share any thoughts you have here. Thanks. :)

I wanted to enjoy Aftermath because it was the nu-canon's attempt at covering one of my favourite topics - the Imperial Remnant - but it was such poorly written drivel that I regret buying the first book as a hardcover. I'll flick through the summaries, but that's about it. At least Sloan has potential as a character, but we all know she'll be dead by the end of the book so whatever.

@Calixis
Completely agree, I bought hardcover Aftermath and stopped reading novels it was so badly written.

I highly recommend Life Debt though, seriously.

Couldn't put it down, and what an epilogue!!

I swear, it was like a different author...;)

*differently written

There's a difference between poor writing and a style that isn't for you. A lot of Aftermath detractors confuse the two.

Fair point. There was just something about the first one that gave me a headache trying to get through a few pages. Strangely, I didn't have any trouble with Life Debt.

Am I the only one who noticed a difference between Aftermath and Aftermath:Life Debt..? Yeah, with any of this kind of question, it usually is just me. ;)

Need to read Life Debt. How is it compared to the first?

Probably more of what people might have expected before they read the first. I think people had this expectation that Aftermath was going to be a major story that dealt with major characters, but it was a pretty small story with new characters. Life Debt ups the ante and is more consequential, leading into Empire's End which is obviously a climactic event.

Some of the excerpts I've read from Empire's End sound really interesting; such as Palpatine's paranoia about a dark presence (Snoke?) along the fringes of the galaxy. I have hope.

One thing's for sure... Jakku is important.

Did anyone else think that Rax makes a great villain?
With the epilogue of Life Debt in mind, he certainly got noticed by somebody who knows how to spot potential... ;)

I don't know if I'd say Palpatine was paranoid about it. It seems more like he was intrigued. Tarkin established that the Death Star was mostly a front as a new symbol of power that would let Palpatine focus more on studying the dark side. Aftermath established that Palpatine believed the source of his power and maybe even the dark side was outside the galaxy or in the Unknown Regions. It seems more like he was drawn to it and wanted to understand it.
