I know it doesn't look swarzy, but it was the best picture I could find.
Affiliation: The Mandalorian Underground. Civilian versions sold by Donomel Heavy Manufacturing
Ownership: N/A
Intent: To create an alternative to the Jetpack that allows for sustained flight over long distances.
Model: Angel-Combat Glider Harness
Weight: 12kg
Composition: Composed of incredibly light Plasteel and synthweave.
Wingspan: 12 Meters Across
Rating: Somewhat resistant to Blaster Pistols and low-powered slugthrowers.
Description: The Angel Harness is the successor to jetpacks, or at the very least an alternative. The design consists of a main harness, various metal and synthweave cloth used to hold the user to the device as well as a neural collar. A small repulsor generator, as well as an area for power packs, is located near the bottom of the back.
Along the back, two 'wings' fold out to either side composed of plasteel braces containing a collection of small, low powered maneuvering thrusters. These are all on tiny gimbals, allowing them to rotate within their housings. A large synthweave cloth is wound through the hollow plasteel bars, attaching to the farthest strut on either side. The fabric is given some elasticity, allowing it to become more rigid when extended fully. In the center between these wings is a small jump pack. There is only enough gas in the small tanks for two or three jumps, but these are mostly used to give the user a quick jump into the air where they will start gliding. There is also a small atmospheric ionizer used to heat the air, creating artificial hot pockets of air, assisting in flight.
The user is allowed complete control of the wings, maneuvering thrusters, repulsor, ionizer, and jump pack, and while the time to train the mental cues needed to activate these systems is not short, it does offer impressive results.
In the air, the harness allows for hundreds of miles of sustained glide depending on the altitude the glide is started at. The user can gain more altitude with the jump pack and the ionizer, allowing for incredible durations. The user's hands are completely free, allowing weapons to be held and fires during flight, and the wings are sturdy enough to take the rigors of quick dives and turns. However, the frame itself is vulnerable to weapons fire, and the operator must rely on their maneuverability when firing on enemies with one.
