((This thread is the first formal meeting between Tusa and the nobility canonically. All previous meetings have been done in smaller cabinets, but this is supposed to be an important meeting. We'll pretend all the PC nobles have been chosen to talk for their respective sectors for whatever reason. The first part we ask questions of the Emperor. This is a CLOSED THREAD to NOBILITY ONLY.))

It had been a long day on Nal Hutta, and it was destined to be even longer. Running from one meeting to the next, the already exhausted Emperor had a final discussion before he could retire for the night- a meeting with some of his nobles.

It had been a shock on the HoloNets, hearing that the Empire was going back to war. With the full deployment of some of the Empire's best armadas, a swell of patriotism had overcome the Hutt regions and a call for an organized Q&A session with the Emperor had been answered- via holonet feed, Tusa would field questions concerning his regime. His advisors had been wary at best, an uncomfortable and potentially disastrous PR move... So Tusa had to abandon his idea of a live broadcast in favor of a 'more compact and concise' recording. The Nobility would have to sign nondisclosure agreements, but such was the Empire at war.

Tusa wriggled out of his gateway to the podium stationed in front of the assembled nobles, a fine mix of every corner of the galaxy and every rank his system allowed. He had naturally taken precautions- the delegates had been thoroughly (and in some cases invasively) searched, the room in his own palace had been swept, and there were an approximate two guards per noble with a clear line of fire. Newly purchased CARD battle droids waited in hidden alcoves, and the ever-present shimmer of Tusa's personal shield generator covered the entirety of the stage, along with the four Razorback commandos circling the Emperor while miraculously remaining out of camera. Such is the Empire at war.

One of his attendants stepped to the podium, leaning close to speak in a regal yet hushed tone:

"Our Emperor, ruler of the Hutt Territories, Tusa Ujalli Hai." The attendant scurried off as the Emperor took the podium.

[Greetings, beings of the Hutt Empire. As you have all heard my statement regarding the war against the Republic, I will waste no time in repetition. Tonight is your night- your chance to help me improve our Empire.] He smiled- an oddly warm tone to his voice. He had practiced.

[Please, the first question?]

Andoba the Hutt, Marquis of the Hutt Empire, more specifically the planet of Naboo, squirmed his slug-like body, attempting to get comfortable in the seating he was permitted. Like all of the other nobility in the palace, he had two personal bodyguards with him; two he'd known throughout his time the Marquis of Naboo. Out of all the Hutt nobility, not counting the humans among them, gathered, he was one of the youngest, a testament to his tactics, back-door dealings, and loyalty to Emperor Tusa. Tusa began speaking and then opened up the forum to questions.

Andoba had read the Emperor's address to the Empire over the HoloNet days ago. He knew most of what he needed. However, there was one thing missing. One thing that was bugging him. Perhaps the Emperor would have the answer he needed.

Clearing his throat, the large Hutt spoke with a deep voice in Huttese, [Your grace, what is our relations with the new Dark Jedi Empire? During the last war, they were but a religious organization working with us to help us...deal with the Republic and Jedi scum. Now that they've formed an Empire, do they remain vital allies to us, or are we to assume them as a potential threat as well?] he boomed.

Tusa nodded in careful contemplation. It was unusual for such a hard hitting question to come so quickly, but the Emperor was glad such was the case- it would help to cut down on the waste and kiss-ass attitude of the Nobility... And the Emperor was such a busy slug.

[A good question, Andoba,] the Hutt began, speaking to his fellow worm. [For the past five years, the Empire has been in a mutual non-aggression pact with the Bogan Empire. It goes much further than that, however- we laid the foundation for the Bogan to create their very own Empire. I believe that the Bogan wholeheartedly embody the spirit of the Hutt Empire- with little resources and dedication, they've created a government out of thin air. I commend them on their work, and am glad that we share space with the Bogan Empire. The Hutt Empire does not consider the Bogan a threat- I would personally consider them to be cousins to us all; friends we can trust. I hope to work with the Bogan in the future to further solidify Imperial security for our citizens.]

The Emperor was a brilliant actor today, on in full form. Be it the patriotic swell from the renewed wars, adrenaline at the thought of crushing the Republic, or sheer will, Tusa covered his blatant lie... The fact that everyone was an enemy. Some day, they'll find that out.

[Next question?]

"It's unlikely that'll stay forever," commented Marquis Gabriel Djibril of Obroa-skai. "The way of the Dark Side is through betrayal. The only reason they're working with us is because we have a common enemy. Once the Republic and Jedi have fallen, they'll most certainly go after us next. The curse of greed and ambition is that one always wants more."

Djibril cleared his throat. He knew he was in a sticky situation, openly arguing with Tusa's 'public' opinion, which Djibril doubted was the truth. However, he didn't to make sure they weren't stuck in a bad situation later on.

"I have to questions. First, what contingency plan do we have in place if, when, the Bogan betray us? My second question is how will the Hutt Empire be warring against the Republic besides battles? Battles are taxing. Brute force can only do so much. We need a PR campaign to extinguish the stigma of villains the Republic has portrayed us as. My suggestion is that of the planets we conquer right now, we leave alone. Yes, we'll install our own government or make the current one our puppet, but leave it alone. No pilaging. No massacres of the innocent civilians. If we can use this to make ourselves look less evil, our enemy will begin to grow doubts of whether we're the true evil ones or not. If they're less motivated, the worse they'll do in battle. Doubt is a deadly poison if used correctly."

Andoba listened to the Shi'ido from Obroa-Skai speak and stopped himself from chuckling. How an alien, a non-Hutt at that, had amounted to anything in Hutt royalty was beyond him, but he was confident that the Emperor had his reasons. However, openly opposing Tusa's opinion was a very, very risky thing to do. If Andoba had been in the Emperor's place, he would've had the Shi'do executed where he sat, but, sadly, that was not his place, nor the reality of the situation.

He remained silent, but carefully watched the Emperor for his response.

" Well Marquesis Djibril has a point your highness." Came the voice of the stunningly charming Count Eduardo as he walked into the room wearing one of his most elegant gowns that was made of gold, and looked pretty expensive. Gladly, unlike many other nobles Eduardo worked hard to become the head of his family unlike many others, and that made him proud of what he was able to accomplish.

"However let us all not forget that it was the Republic's greed that started the war in the beginning. They had enough space, yet they started expanding close to our region like the cancer they are. That is why peace won't come unless that cancer gets completely wiped out from the face of the galaxy. Which means that to secure a better future for our glorious Empire we have to wipe the Republic and the Jedi not leaving a single one of them alive. They should all fall down beneath our feet like the dogs they are!!!" Eduardo spoke again, rage and hate were two things that were obvious in his voice.

"And to do that we will surely need the help of the Dark Jedi especially to fight the Jedi"

The viscount, Zaar the Famished, slithered out of the shadows of the room. Accompying him was Krya Strax. He was an odd Hutt to say the least. He had grown out a beard, and in it the others could see the remains of his last meal. Zaar was unsure of how much his voice mattered, but he would speak anyways.

" Count Eduardo is right, until all of the Republic scum are dead, we will not be safe. They will continue to invade and destroy like locust. We must squash them soon, fast, and thouroughly. We cannot do it with paid guns alone, we need the Bogans with us. "

Zaar sat quietly after his speech, waiting for what the others to respond.

It took a lot of his effort not to do the obvious- have the dissenter killed in public. It wasn't so much Tusa's enjoyment of the deed but the necessity to show brutal control... Something his PR agents had advised him to limit. Instead, he simply smiled and answered with impressive serenity.

[The Bogan may be a threat some day- I do not pretend to know their opinion of us. Until that day, however, we will not make a move against the Bogan and any contingency plans that exist are for a worst-case scenario.
As for your second question, I do not entirely understand your meaning. The Empire has never pillaged or massacred the native populations of planets that we have taken. I point to our newly acquired Bothan territories- never once in our control of the planet have we razed a village or utilized a firing squad. We are not a band of barbarians, and the only ones who believe so are the very Republic scum that continually intrude on our turf. We intend to perform exactly as we have- admirably and with the utmost mind for justice. Soon, it will become clear to Republic worlds that they've picked the wrong side.]
Evil? Had the Marquis truly called the Empire evil on what he believed to be a live broadcast? The question would need to be edited heavily before it was broadcast, and the good Marquis'es loyalty would need a thorough check.

[We do, however, have plans to strike at the Republic fighting machine. We have no issue with the Republic citizens, but the corrupt and murderous leaders that bring them along their xenocidal war. We have plans underway to liberate the peoples of the Republic from tyranny that don't involve warships, yes. I cannot disclose further information at this time. Next question, please?]

Andoba chuckled silently to himself, his fat giggling as he did. It was foolish for the two Marquis to challenge the Emperor, especially in a live broadcast. Andoba was no fool. He knew this was all just a public stunt for PR against the Republic, however, he also knew the price that was to be payed by anyone who dare speak out against the Emperor's plans. He was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Everyone got what was coming to them eventually.....everyone. Every single Hutt, with any brains that is, knew that, even the Emperor.

The Naboo Marquis was content following orders and showing his loyalty until such time came. What need was there putting his life at risk for a losing cause? Hutts lived a very long time, sometimes a thousand years. He had plenty of time to wait. He slipped his large, grubby hand into a jar full of frog-like creatures and stuffed a few in his mouth, the liquid from the jar dripping from his open maw of a mouth and onto his large body.

Seeing his chance, the large slug asked his follow up question, [My lord, what will our job as loyal nobles of his majesty, the Emperor, be in assisting the Empire achieve its goals?] he boomed in Huttese.

He had chosen his words carefully. Though the Emperor showed no signs of it, he as a Hutt knew the Emperor had felt the angry impulse to kill the dissenter Marquis'. He did not want to get on the Emperor's bad side. Placating his good side was both a good political move, and would show the Emperor where his loyalties lie.

Sirberius the Hutt jolted as he reawakened. Shortly after Tusa's opening speech, Sirberius had dozed off. A nearby noble filled in on what had happened.

What is that Marquis thinking? wondered Sirberius.

Andoba asked his question.

[I too would like to know,] added Sirberius. [Though regardless of what, we shall stand behind our great Emperor.] The last bit may have been a bit much but a little sucking up never hurt anyone... yet anyways.

Valance Blood was sited, listening, He was choose as a Sir, by none other then his Loving Ruler he loved best, Tusa. He has such power, everything. Yet something stopped, Valance had studied Pothically, Over last Four years, as Improved and has gotten better, His eyes crossed the roomed he seemed to be the only Human Being there, And also Captain of the Steel Rain Amerindian and Second In Command of the Squadron. He had matters to discuss about this meetings, Yet Sirs were allowed only one questions and that limited him, heavily. And he knew Tusa, was a powerful Ruler.

But Valance Blood, was chosen, for both positions for a reasons, He listened carefully, For what the others said, Yet he did not say anything at all. Until Tusa Gave Permission to speak, which would be Next Question in a Sense.
