I'm all for restricting the number of cap ships present in a battle, but only if restrictions were made on a case-by-case basis by the admins, using input from the faction leaders about what ships they have present and what ships are available as reinforcements. The massively chaotic 100-plus ship battles were just insane, and, imo, lead to way too much generalization and not enough room for specifics. This, in turn, leads to misunderstandings and bitchfests.
Capping out a battle at 10 to 15 capital ships per side, with only 4 or so of those being cruisers, seems to be a very good idea to me. So long as both factions stick to it, I don't think it'd upset the swing of battle at all. And, if it worked to reduce the amount of OOC bickering, then any inconvenience it posed would be well worth enduring. On that note, I'm also in favor of capping the number of participants in a battle thread at around four or five people in total. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like any thread with more than that many people just stalls and gets confused.
