CHARACTER THEME

BIOGRAPHY

Baymon's past is a mystery, and how much of his own history that he knows is kept as a closely guarded secret. Few know him, some know of him, and most have never heard of him, but those who know just a little more know that he was once a member of a criminal organization that may now be obsolete. It engaged in multiple activities, including but not limited to: arms dealing, spicerunning, counterfeiting, smuggling and assassination. Baymon reached a position in the organization that preserved him as a middleman, presenting him with an acute angle to make ends meet without meeting his end by being caught blindsided in the limelight, as tended to happen to the ones on top.

Eventually, his time with the organization did meet its end, and around this time is when he began engaging himself with the private and political sectors. He established a smallscale shipping service and kept up with current affairs on his homeworld via a contact who was just as much a mid-level politician.

As time went on, so did Baymon's criminal pursuits. He found himself joining a new board in the same game, or maybe it was a new game on the same board. The Five Syndicates dominated the underworld of the galaxy, and it was namely the Crymorah Families that Baymon became entangled with. To this day, he lives the life of what many would call a scoundrel, and such has been said to his face. This time, however, he aims to work his way to the top, whatever rung that takes him to on the ladder of crime and corruption.
Personality

Baymon is intelligent and driven.
He has a penchant for the arts, enjoying fine wine from a decanter and exotic steak on his plate, a stroll through the park in the morning and an opera in the evening. Many of the finer things in life were denied him on more than one occasion during his turbulent years on both sides of the law, so he has developed an increased appreciation for escapism as much as actual escape.
Nonetheless, Baymon can be utterly ruthless when the occasion calls for it, and many times it does. He has no qualms about the fact that he is a criminal, that he has killed and will kill again, but always he lives by a code that he believes defines his more illegal and immoral motives, and the very purpose of his existence. He does not hurt or kill for pleasure, regardless of any lack of empathy on his part, but he simply believes that the means justify the ends, and he has many means in mind to see him to the end.

Name, FC, personality, chunks of the Bio, this seems like an almost complete copy paste of the character of the same name from the show Black List. Might be a bit too on the nose mate. You even gave him a NPC named Dembe?

If I am backseat moderating here, profile moderators, let me know and I'll clear off.

@Die Shize we do not normally allow carbon copies of existing characters in canon, or other series. However, we do allow 'inspired by'. My suggestion would be a rework of this character, so it is inspired by this chap, and a few other similar criminal dudes, but is not a direct carbon copy - if you catch my meaning.

A good set of examples would be Sreeyas 'Empress Drast' from two (three?) TLs ago who, from what I see, was inspired by Belletrix Lestrange, but was far far far from a copy of her. Also, my Hutts, inspired by canon Hutts, but not a carbon copy etc etc

@Wit (from what I can see) was not just making an observation, he was trying to make the point that you cannot just copy a character from another fandom over, and change the name.

I appreciate that but this is not actually Raymond Reddington from the source material. This is obviously a copy to anyone who recognizes and by me as the maker, but this is Raymond Reddington unique to this Star Wars setting. Apart from his name, appearance and certain details of his backstory and personality, this is not the same man. None of The Blacklist locations and whatsuch exist here.

All I’m essentially doing on the copy-paste front is taking the name, face, personality and backstory details. If you isolate any of those things then it becomes okay. We take names from other mediums and Keanu Reeves’ face claims, backstory tropes and personality cliches. In my case, I merged them from The Blacklist’s Raymond Reddington into SWRP’s Raymond Reddington but, again, this is not the same Raymond Reddington.

That's literally the whole character. We don't allow carbon-copies of characters from other media. So you'll need to retool this character into something that isn't a rip off or it will get archived.

Yes, it basically is. A character ripoff in a ripoff setting and I don’t deny that. That was the whole point. To roleplay this character unique to this setting because it sounded fun but it is what it is.

I will retool the character or will inform to get the character archived potentially before the day ends.

Adjustments have been made.

I feel that what remains is otherwise rather generic of a gangster character, but if anyone wants a breakdown comparison of differences between Braymond of SWRP and Raymond of The Blacklist, to ensure that this is not a carbon copy, let me know.

So the changes you made to the background are all well and good, but the name seems a little ridiculous. It's comparable to making a cyborg character, using Darth Vader as the FC and calling him Barth Bader.

It’s not much different than how people can already take an actual name and change letters around and add letters and drop letters, real names or made up names from other mediums. I’ve seen a Deucalian of House Stark or something, granted from a previous timeline. Difference here is once again the immediate association with “Raymond Reddington”.

I think the Darth Vader comparison is a bit of a stretch. Unless the Darth Vader face claim is allowed, though surely the Darth Vader character is not allowed. “Barth Bader” on any face but Darth Vader’s, on a character who is different to Darth Vader’s character, would probably be acceptable. On that note, my character is not Raymond Reddington. The name is not “Raymond Reddington”.

If you’re yet not allowing it on these grounds then I’ll change it. If you’re saying that it’s ridiculous but still allowed then I’ll keep it.

@Die Shize

I am asking you to change the name and then tag me when those changes are made.
