Sakaki entered the reflecting pool in the new Obroa-skai base for Luminado. The frozen, mountainous planet was cold, but didn't affect Sakaki much. The reflecting pool, while at one point in time may have held a flow of water, it was now just a block of ice.
Sakaki sat down at the edge of the frosty reflecfting pool as he waited on his new apprentice, Veith Deivko.

Traveling through the base swiftly, Veith watched everyone around him guardedly. No one could ever truly be trusted, much less when you had as many enemies as a murderer-turned-Darksider. These bastards here wouldn't bat an eye if their superiors told them to kill me, and would do it in an instant if they thought it would help them. He grinned inwardly. Though, neither would I. If their leaders can give me power, though, I will serve them.

He stepped outside, and crossed the frozen ground with no regard for the temperature. Approaching the pool, he halted in front of it, facing the man seated on the opposite edge. He stared at him in silence.

Sakaki instantly sensed the newcomer and stood up. Veith Deivko was just as described. Sakaki wondered how strong the Anzanti was. It was probably a good thing Sakaki wore his armor, having no skin explosed.

"Veith Deivko, welcome to Luminado," greeted Sakaki. "I am General Sakaki Uchiwa. Now, you've been assigned to train under me. Now, I know what I can teach you but what is it that you want to be taught? The only one who can answer that is you."

Veith's eyes narrowed, but he quickly corrected this. He had come here because he had heard they had power. This reflection again? Do all Force users constantly look inward? Their power is worth more to me than the philosophies of the Jedi. He responded emotionlessly. "I want to learn the power of the Dark Side. I want to become strong, and I want to find the true power of the Force. That is the purpose of this order, is it not? Strength and power in the Dark Side?"

Sakaki laughed. "Sorry but I'm no idealist Jedi. There is no difference between the Dark Side or Light Side; it's all comprehension. No, I was inquiring which skills you wish to learn. Will it be to defeat any opponent in lightsaber combat? To use the Force to your advantage? To slay any enemy? There are many things that could be learned. However, there's no point in teaching skills that will not be utilized. I inquired to find out which skills you wish to have to use in life, not like the Jedi who learn everything they can and use barely any of it."

Veith nodded in comprehension, and he raised his opinion of the man a little. At least he's no deluded fool like the Lightsiders. But... He is wrong about the Force. The sides are clearly different, and from what I've seen, the Dark is the stronger. He let none of this escape him, however; he did not care to duel with his mentor on the merits of the Dark Side. Instead, he let out a dark laugh, quietly.

"I want to be able to use the lightsaber and the Force together in combat. If I were to master one, and a greater master appeared, I would fall. If I gain mastery of the usage of them in conjunction, I can use them together against my foes." He stared straight at Sakaki. "I wish to become strong in both, but only in the methods that can be used together for combat. A lightsaber is no use if it is lifted from my hands with the Force, and the Force is no use if I am run through while using it, so I must use both together.

"Interesting" mused Sakaki. "Most focus on one or the other but you choos both."

Sakaki unstrapped one of the lightsabers from his side and dropped it on the floor. He then used telekinesis to lift it up.

"I would suggest you learn telekinesis," said Sakaki. "Telekinectic lightsaber combat utilizes the Force to control the blade, putting the blade under your control. Form-wise, I would suggest Form II: Makashi. It focuses on preventing lightsabers from being taken or damaged. For the former, you'll need to work on telekinesis. For the latter, you'll want to increase your agility and strength. So, which shall you choose? Or will the answer be 'both' like before?"

Veith closed his eyes to visualize the combat styles. He kept active the limited ability to sense through the Force, which he had developed by observing and hunting the Force-sensitive Duinuogwuin. He could not sense all around him, but it was a better warning than nothing in case of an attack.

Imagining the combat styles, he realized that both seemed to leave part of the other out. He had been thinking of something more... synchronized. He felt as if something stirred in his memory, and he looked back to his younger days. The Jedi, teaching on Anzat... "No," he said. "Not both. Not either, I think. I was taught the names of the forms by Jedi in my youth. They never imagined it would aid me against them. I remember a form that used the Force to keep an edge while you fought. One of the primary styles. It was called... Aratu?" The Anzat knew he hadn't got the name quite right. He'd mixed some sounds up, but it was close, and with so few main forms, Sakaki should be able to guess it.

"Ah, Form IV: the Way of the Hawk-Bat," said Sakaki. "True, it is a form that utilizes the Force in combat. However, it requires great physical strength and endurance. Very aggressive." He grinned. "You seem to know the basics. Let's see how much you know right now." Sakaki motioned to a table, that held a collection of lightsabers, varying from single-blades to double-blades to short blades to long blades. Sakaki had a lightwhip there too, but wasn't sure if that would be the best to use.
"Once you have chosen your weapon, attack me," commanded Sakaki.
Sakaki grabbed the levitating lightsaber. he disconnected five more. He placed three lightsabers in each hand, each placed between fingers. Outstretched and ignited, they were like talons.

Having used a lightsaber only infrequently, as they drew attention, Veith grabbed the one that seemed to him the most standard, and therefore the most basic to use. It was a slightly longer blade than usual, but not overtly so. Gripping it firmly in his hands, and taking a stance that, coupled with his grin, made him seem much more confident than he was, he ignited it. Seeing six lightsabers wielded at once, he realized he seemed ridiculously paltry in comparison. Nonetheless, it was the start of training. Focusing as much as he could, and trying to embed himself in the Force so that he would not be jolted out of it easily, as he often was, he raced forward with all of his strength, taking a direct approach, only to move his blade down below Sakaki's guard as he struck.

Standard shape, Sakaki noted.

Veith charged at Sakaki head on. While Sakaki first theorized that Veith made an amateur's mistake, the apprentice swung below Sakaki's guard. Sakaki knelt down, placeing his lightsabers diagonally, woving against the lightsabers of the other hand. Regardless of where Veith struck, the shield would deflect any swing. If Veith tried jabbing, Sakaki could simply squeeze the nodes between lightsabers, trapping Veith's lightsaber. After Veith's attack, Sakaki planned to use the Force to pull himself back, proceeding to slash at the apprentice.

Finding himself easily deflected by the general, Veith saw Sakaki begin to move, and his eyes widened at the attack. Utilizing all of his reflexes, he leaped to the side, attempting to strike at Sakaki's side, but noticing, too late to revert his attack, that the strike was easy to parry for one with lightsabers in both hand.

Veith dodged his slash. Sakaki wasn't surprised. The move had been simple. In actuality, had Veith stood his ground, he probably woud have been able to stop the swing.

Veith then made a foolish mistake by attacking Sakaki's side. Sakaki's claw technique was very defensive by frontal attack and offensive to the sides. Sakaki swiped Veith's lightsaber to the side and jabbed the other handful of lightsabers at Veith's head. However, the attack wouldn't reach its target. Sakaki had seen enough.

"Very good," said Sakaki. "You've both impressed and disappointed me. You worked on my expectations with a frontal attack right of the bat as a guise for a sneak attack. However, you then tried to attack me by the side. In truth, had you gone for a rear attack, you might have reached me. I can tell that you have potential. I look forward to future."

Exhaling as the attack that could have taken him out, Veith was relieved. Though he'd doubted Sakaki would have killed him, the paranoid Anzat could not rule out a near-stranger as dangerous. Veith was pleased that he had managed to impress the general, and indifferent to his disappointment. He was there to train; he didn't expect to know it all yet, obviously. He quietly tucked away the note about attacks from behind. That would be useful if he ever had to fight someone with a similar strategy. He nodded at Sakaki's last words, then opened his mouth to speak. "So. What next?"

"I would suggest you work on your form first," said Sakaki. "I can attempt to teach you the basics of any form, but you may find more insight with your peers. You would be wise to master the ways of the Force. My report states that the only Force power you know is Force persuasion. That may be useful against the weak minded but not all, and especially not during combat. I would suggest you practice telekinesis, a basic Force power."

Sakaki kicked an ice chunk over to Veith's feet.

"Concentrate on the ice. Lift it up."

Nodding, Veith turned to the ice. He wondered how much Sakaki's report told him about Veith. He supposed it didn't matter much. His past couldn't hurt him anymore; he'd never made an enemy of anyone strong enough to touch him now. He found the Force again, easier this time after grasping it so firmly a moment before, and began to focus it on the ice. He felt it vaguely, as if he were distantly connected to it, and it began to quiver as he held it. As it lifted ever so slightly, however, it suddenly snapped out of his grasp, as if he were dropping something held precariously, and flipped into the air wildly, landing a few feet away.

Sakaki chuckled. "You need to concentrate, but not too hard. Be more gently. Try to hold it, not grasp it. Think of the ice as an extension of yourself. Move the ice as if it were a limb on your body."

Reaching deeper within himself, Veith secured the Force around him, plunging deeper into it as he closed his eyes and dedicated himself wholly to the task. Suddenly, he found himself floating freely in the Force, without the typical frailty of his grasp. He could sense that he was still not as deeply connected as he could be, but he felt better in contact with it than before.

He opened his eyes. Raising his arm in a natural reflex, Veith focused the Force on the ice. He held it with his mind, and felt it... "suspended" by the Force, though its physical appearance did not change or move. He could not move it as naturally as he would his arm, but moving his arm, he commanded it to follow, though not with words, even mentally, but rather through the Force. It rose into the air slowly, to a foot, and then stopped there. Realizing he could do more, Veith lifted it to eye level, and held it there, his arm trembling, until just as it reached that level the Force dispersed from it, and it fell back to the ground.

"Very good," complimented Sakaki. "Try it again, holding it longer. Remember, don't try to grasp it, or the ice might shatter."

Veith didn't respond this time, but his confidence swelled as he drew breath inward into himself, and expelled it again in preparation. He once again contacted the Force, feeling supported by it, rather than supported in it by himself. He somehow knew that this time, without some spark to prompt him, he would not be releasing the Force so easily. With this in mind, he calmly reached out his arm, and with a confidence unwarranted for so simple a task enveloped the ice lightly but completely, using the Force.

His arm still outstretched, his eyes directed it upwards, until it hovered at eye level. Realizing his arm was an unnecessary gesture unless calling something to him, he let it fall, and with his mind shot the ice up into the air, before stepping back as it came down, and catching it with his mind again, holding it at eye height.
