Senator Nathan Braxon, of Begamor, has seldom been seen at Senate gatherings before but brought his colleagues together on Gatalenta this week to make an impassioned call for peace. A young politician not yet 30, his motion to have Nal Hutta and the Empire expelled from the Senate if necessary was considered overly drastic by colleagues. The motion failed to pass, due to opposition from ISC and Corporate Sector representatives.
Nonetheless, the Senate debate appears to have brought pressure to bear on both the Hutts and Imperials, with both their representatives agreeing to peace talks in response to Braxon's motion. There was little sign of a negotiated outcome before now and hopes are high. Senator Braxon may not have won the motion, but if the talks taking place on Canto Bight this week are successful, he just might be remembered for winning the peace.
