Biography

“Decay is inevitable...it is the will of the force.”

It doesn’t matter what 3rd world planet he was born to, Oossan barely had his first mouthful of air before leaving. His childhood was primarily nomadic, spent with his family aboard their medical frigate. The Juntag Firm was created by Oosan’s parents as medical services non-profit that effectively served as missionaries to underserved worlds in the mid and outer rim. They had little funding, but a lot of heart, and his parents had dedicated their life to this mission.

From a very young age, Oossan came to feel contempt for his family. No, not contempt, disgust; and total apathy. He grew up drenched in irony: to one side of him were the infirm and destitute, and to the other was the hopelessly altruistic. Between them lived the single never ending lie that death could somehow be beaten. Stalled, bartered with, and occasionally even cheated, but never beaten. What death wanted, it took; without sympathy or spite. He became obsessed with it, no, infatuated.

This infatuation was more than enough to keep him interested in the family business, and their good intentions were easy for him to delude. The only emotional anchor to get through to him was his younger sister. Her admiration was satisfying in its innocence, and she seemed to need him in her way. This was his best leverage against the discovery of his sinister inclinations. As they grew older Oossan and his elder sister both studied medicine, following in their parents footsteps. Their pride in him was woefully misplaced. By all appearance he was a prodigal son to the Juntag family, traveling to distant colonies in need, and treating exotic illnesses; but for every dozen people he helped to stall death’s will, he would experiment with another. His preferred method was to exacerbate an ailment to sustain the moments before the inevitable as long as possible. With practice he was able hold a victim at mortalities edge for months. Then Oossan made a miraculous discovery: death was speaking to him.

For some time Oossan thought he was going mad, yet still could not resist the whispers of the dark side. After some research, he became convinced this was indeed the force communing with him. While chasing down rumors and heresay To learn more about his connection, by chance he took a position treating a small advance colony on Malachor V. During his time there he encountered a true dark sider, a hermit obsessed with artifacts and temples who immediately recognized the potential in the young Duros. Oossan extended his stay, then visited repeatedly to study the ways of the dark side of the force from his new master. Then the force taught him a new name for death, and with it, gave a broader perspective on its power and reach. He called it the shadow, and in return it named him Carrion.

Carrion quickly grew bored by his masters stagnation, and murdered him with a strain Dathomiran wild flu. He was reborn, and thus ended his time as pauper in the Juntag Firm. He accepted a role on the advisory board for political reasons, and moved into the private sector becoming an independent researcher with Czerka Medical, which allowed him able opportunity to continue his own monstrous experiment, now with increased access and assets. As he began searching for the means to pursue a darker path, he encountered the Knight of Ren. There was some tension at first, but eventually Carrion Ren was pleased with how untraceable the death of his younger sister had been. With them he will guide the galaxy to its one true destiny: The pitiless consumption of the dark side.

Personality

Ossan and Carrion Ren are both an unquestionable sociopath. They operate with a total absence of empathy, and calculates every act with a keen and patient mind. This is why they so identify with the shadow of the dark side, holding a degree of faith only describable as zealotry. They regard sentients to be part of some larger test or game within the force. Their dual passions are furthering the Shadow’s reach, and demonstrating his own perceived superiority. Anything with a will that lacks the strength to wield it, does not deserve that gift; becoming forfeit to the all consuming appetite of the Ren.

They are obviously aloof at their best, but under the guise of Oossan Juntag have mastered the mechanics of how to present oneself as trustworthy, or even generous and kind. Carrion, by contrast, is cold and merciless to a fault; apathy made flesh.

Abilities

Carrion Ren’s greatest strength is their intellect. They are skilled physician, and insidious tactician; always thinking several steps ahead of the opposition. As a sociopath, many technical skills come easily, and they are extremely adept with computers. Being raised in starships has also made them very proficient pilot. To an extent, their analytic approach to sentient interaction has also made them a great manipulator.

With very little regard for emotion from, their command of the force is the product of ceaseless practice, and pragmatism; focused in the realm of mental and physical torture, with a special focus on abilities such as force drain. Having never trained for combat before adulthood, they are not as adept a warrior as some of their peers. However, their appreciation for the elegance of the lightsaber has motivated them to become a capable duelist. As is the case with many Duros, they favor speed, and stealth for advantage, rather than rely on their modest physical strength.
