Clan Bralor
Warrior-Artisans
Keepers of Tradition

Overview

Clan Bralor is one of the many extended family units that make up the Mandalorian culture. The Clan's formation is a long forgotten element of Mandalorian history. What is known that the Clan came to prominence under the reign of Mandalore the Preserver, with a Field Marshal only known as 'Bralor' becoming the Solyc Al'akaan.

Since then, while Clan Bralor has always been a clan who's fortunes have waxed and waned over the millennia since the Taung's pilgrimage to Mandalore, they have remained stalwart supporters of Mandalores in the past, a sturdy pillar of strength that the reigning Mand'alor could always rely upon. But the Clan itself has always been internally brittle due to it's low population compared to larger clans such as Ordo or Fett. This, however, did not stop the Clan from being hired en masse to wage war in the name of an employer, a practice that persisted even to the Clan's declining years when they could muster no more than a few hundred warriors.

Bralor has always boasted able shock troops and combat engineers among it's ranks, with many of it's warriors taking up artisan skills, such as gunsmith, on top of their skill at arms. While like any Mandalorian Clan in that it's members are scattered far and wide across the breadth of Mandalorian space, the Clan has been oddly centralised in the last few hundred years, with the Clan's fortunes seeing a resurgence after the opening of two new beskar mines in 786ABY and 823ABY respectively, seeing a rebuilding effort for the Clan's ancestral abode, Norg Bral.

Recent History [ 600ABY to 1011ABY ]

The Clan's recent history has been relatively demure, with the Clan staying out of much of the external and internal politics of the Mandalorian people. The Clan's size has shrunk since 856ABY, numbering only a few hundred warriors among it's holdings by 919ABY. As of sixty years before the current date of 1,011ABY, the Clan was a shadow of it's former self from centuries past, with the fortified city of Norg Bral holding very few residents.

When the Sith evicted the Mandalorian Clans from Mandalore, Clan Bralor had scattered and dispersed like leaves in the wind. With the death of Tiral Bralor, the influential Aliit'alor who had held the small clan together throughout his long life, and the few holdings the Clan owned outside of local Mandalore space being raided by lawless pirates, Bralor had fallen to the wayside, it's few members and holdings being abosrbed by the then rising Clan Vencu.

In recent months, with the selection of a new Aliit'alor, Bralor has seen something of a resurgence, letting them stand apart from Clan Vencu's protective shadow. Steadfast and loyal, Bralor stands ready to aid their people find a brighter future.

Clan culture

Clan Bralor has always held true to the classical ideals of Mandalorian culture. Courage, strength through challenge and battle, self improvement through strife and honourable conduct as set down in the Resol'nare and Supercommando Codex, the modernised version of the original Canons of Honour written by the Taung millennia ago.

Ontop of this, under the reign of the last few Aliit'alor's, the Clan had begun to gather the collective history of their culture into one place. Norg Bral became not only a fortified city, but a museum and shrine to the ages past. Relics such as Fenn Shysa's helmet, a mythosaur skull and copies of the Canons of Honour, Dha Werda Verda and the Supercommando Codex were among the collected artifacts. Another 'relic' that the Clan holds onto is the practice of using simple colours to denote rank during battle, with the Clan having adopted the Neo-Crusader practice from ages past. Bralor warriors are highly visible on the battlefield, but this only spurs them on to greater glories.

The Clan also, slowly ( for Mandalorians are ever a stubborn people ) came to adopt the view of the ancient Mandalorian Crusaders, merging it seamlessly with more modern aspects of Mandalorian culture. The Clan came to see war as the ultimate test, the ultimate way to prove yourself to your Aliit and your peers, which coupled with the Clan's habitual mercenary wars, led to a very strong, self confident people who held to strong convictions of self sufficiency and honourable conduct in the field of battle.

Bralor's are universally gregarious, welcoming to all fellow Mandalorians. Their males are reknowned for being honest and level headed, and the females for being equally, if not more, so. The Clan has a wild mix of species in it's ranks, ranging from Humans, to the insectile Verpine and reptillian Trandoshans, to Zabraks and Rodians, the blend of species being more pronounced simply due to the clan's small size.

Minor Clans

Clan Carid
Led by Aran Carid (NPC)
Supplies Mechanized Infantry, Combat Engineers, & Surgeons

Like Aliit Bralor, and all the other Clans fighting underneath their banner, Aliit Carid is an ancient Clan, dating all the way back to the days of the Mandalorian Wars, their founding lost in the mists of time.

The members of Aliit Carid have always been simple and honest farm folk based on Mandalore in times of peace. Unlike the Bralor based in and around Norg Bral and the Norg Basin, the members of Carid are spread all over Mandalore in different farming settlments. While some dedicate themselves to the production of varos fruit or the behot herb, the vast amount of the Clan raise livestock of some form, usually nerf, or domesticated shatual. As a result, many a Carid is forced to learn surgical skills in order to propperly tend to their livestock. A skill that they bring with them when the clans go to war, where they serve as battlefield surgeons.

Members of Aliit Carid also frequently use mechanized infantry and produce skilled combat engineers during wartime, again as a result of their chosen lifestyle. Living on farms scattered all over Mandalore, they have become skilled at operating all sorts of vehicles, and how to repair and maintain their own equipment.

Over the millenia, Bralor and Carid have become close allies, especially amongst those of the Clan situated in the northern regions of Mandalore. The fortress of Norg Bral would have offered a place of sanctury for Carid's farm folks during times of war, as well as another major trading post, allowing the Carids to avoid traveling all the way to Kedalbe to trade their goods. Another bond, is that over the years, there has been many a marriage between Bralor and Carid.

Clan Jendri
Led by Jaster Jendri (NPC)
Supplies Basilisk Riders, Starship Pilots/Crew & Marines

Aliit Jendri was one of the original Taung clans, but one that never settled down upon one of the many planets of the Mandalore sector in the earliest days of the Mandalorian history. They did however assist in the setting up of the Kalevalan Spaceworks and MandalMotors. Instead, the Clan remained nomadic, living most of their lives upon their starships.

Ever since the ancient days, the Clan has been tightly involved in the construction and design of Mandalorian spaceships. And you can always find members of Jendri serving on nearly every Mandalorian spaceship, and part of nearly every fighter wing. Over the millenia, this multi-species Clan has become supremely adept at such tasks. They all somehow share an universal love and understanding of combat and navigation within the cold void of space.

This love of flight and speed also includes flight and battle upon the back of the unique Mandalorian war-droid, the bes'uliik. While some Clans pit their younglings against dreadful monsters or in horrible combat situations as their verd'goten, or Warrior's Trial. With the Jendri, it is all about mastering the Basilisk war droid. While a true irony, the best description of the Jendri take of the verd'goten, comes from a man still hated by the Clan: Canderous Ordo.

Canderous Ordo said:
The doors opened in front of me and the air was sucked out of the drop bay, scattering crystals of frozen vapor across my path. I can't describe what it feels like to look directly down at a world, falling continuously as you circle it, with barely fifteen centimeters of armor plate protecting you. When the magnetic locks disengaged on my droid I plunged out of the drop bay towards the battle that waited below.

A sheer drop from high orbit, down through a planet's atmosphere, only to to pull up just a few meters before one is due to become yet another piece of the landscape. A daunting challenge for any young sentient.

An interesting note should be mentioned in regards to Clans Jendri and Ordo. There is a long-standing resentment and rivalry between the two clans, going all the way back to the days between the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War, known as the Twin Spears Incident, where Clan Ordo, under the command of Canderous and with the assistance of the Jedi Revan, came to blows with Clan Jendri over the mountain region known as the Twin Spears. Despite being outnumbered two-to-one, the infamous Ordo forces were better equipped an trained for a ground battle, and had the aid of the greatest Jedi Master of the day, and won, thus allowing Canderous Ordo to become Mandalore, instead of the Jendri.

Clan Cadera
Led by Udes Cadera (NPC)
Supplies Light Infantry, Scouts & Snipers

Amusingly, the most famous Cadera in Mandalorian history, Torian, the companion of the Grand Champion of the Great Hunt, is a poor representative of the Clan's true nature and skill. The majority of the Clan is based on the planet of Jakelia, and thus the majority is obviously Jakelian. But as Torian is evidence, not every Cadera is Jakelian. As with every clan, they allow members of every species into their ranks, and Jakelians are capable of breeding with humans and certain near-human and humanoid species.

As a Clan dominated by Jakelians, Clan Cadera specializes in highly trained hunters, trackers, and light, and very mobile, infantry. Unlike clans favouring Heavy Infantry, the Caderas prefer lighter armour, and lighter arms, with adaptable and fluid battle plans. Cadera snipers are often considered some of the best amongst the Mandalorian clans, simply for their sheer patience and devotion to perfection. But as a result, they often waive the opportunity to take more than one shot in the quest for the perfect kill.

Cadera also produces some of the best Scouts for the exactly the same reasons. Endlessly patient, and devoted to perfecting the art of infiltration, covert insertion, the silent kill. Again displaying the endless patience which marks the Caderas, and again showing the influence of their Jakelian numbers, they are willing to spend weeks to acomplish their goals, quite willing to play the long game, whereas other Clans prefer a short, swift, brutal fight.

The Caderas are also the youngest of the Clans under Bralor. While not as old as those started by the Taung, such as Bralor, Jendri, Carid, or Skirata, Cadera is still several thousands of years old, being one of the first to form when Mandalore the Ultimate's Neo-Crusader reforms allowed non-Taung species to join the ranks of the Mandalorians. It was through the teachings of Clan Cadera that the Jakelian Knife-dance became known throughout the Mandalorian Clans, and was taught to the Clone Troopers in the wars that followed.

Clan Skirata
Led by Prudii Skirata (NPC)
Supplies Commandos, Combat Medics & Armoured Cavalry

Skirata and Bralor have always been close, going all the way back to the days of the Taung Crusaders. While Bralor's numbers have waxed and waned over the millenia, Skirata was always a small, close-knit Clan, based around the region of Kyrimorut. While not as numerous as some other Clans, Skirata never the less did theur duties as Mandalorians, and served and fought like everyone else. They were frequent mercenaries of great note and skill, which again helped cement the relationship between the equally mercenary clan of Bralor.

However, in the waning days of the Clone Wars, and what is now called the Rise of the Empire, Skirata saw a sudden boom in numbers, as their ranks swelled with Fett clone deserters. And with the Clones rapid aging issues cured, Skirata would become instrumental in restoring Mandalore from Imperial rule, but this is well recorded elsewhere, as is the marriage between Fi Skirata and Parja Bralor. These highly trained Clone Commandos passed on their skills to the rest of the clan, and as many of them settled down and married, helped swell the Clan's numbers yet further.

Suddenly Skirata was a true force to be reckoned with, with highly skilled and commandos almost comparable to Vencu's infamous Supercommandos. But having learned from the case of Fi Skirata, the Clone with serious brain damage, Skirata devoted themselves to having a standing corps of trained combat medics as well. And learning from their experience in the Clone Wars and the following years, Skirata began devoting themselves to armoured warfare, and set about mastering such vehicles such as the Canderous tank, and various Walkers.
