Making her way to the training room that she had used so many times in the past, Haven smiled with some satisfaction, having learned that she had been assigned a new Padawan. It had been 4 years since having taken on another Padawan, and it will be the first since she had been promoted to the rank of master. Did she feel different after that? Not particularly. Nevertheless, it did call for her having to wear attire deemed 'suitable', meaning no more casual wear during normal occassions. She shook her head, chuckling at the thought of her 'concern' being clothing. Haven flexed her hands, including her cybernetic left arm. It'll be interesting to see whether she would approach this training with different methods, but frankly Haven felt the same as always. She knew nothing of this new Padawan, still not being one to particularly care about pre-reading or giving a look through the person in question's file.

Learning about someone was something that needed to be done face-to-face. Haven remained standing as she waited for her padawan's arrival.

Misha had been transferred to a new master. Yesterday training on the island with Tieko and Raziel, now Raz had been transffered and Tieko called to war. She'd miss Tieko for the few days they'd been together as well as Raz, but she knew they'd be okay.
Her new master was a mystery, and hopefully just as loose as her old one.
"Probably not." misha replied to her own thought. She got dressed how she always did. Staring at her dresser filled with clothes she wished she could wear. She walked around casually in them, but that wasn't often considering she was in a Jedi monastery and was constantly training. She opened her door, walked, shut her door, and kept walking.

She walked across the campus to the training room at a slow leisurely pace, it was a beautiful day after all. The sun was up, the sky was blue, it was beautiful, and so was the life, the people; masters and padawans. She picked up the pace wondering just who her new master was. When she reached the building, she opened the door to see the circular room and a biotic arm in the shadows.

Having sensed Misha's arrival, Haven turned around in time to see the door open with a swoosh. Realising that the room was rather dark, Haven nudged a switch on the door with the force, the shutter windows of the training room immediately sliding aside, letting the morning sun fill the room with it's presence. Much better... Haven mused, now being able to properly study the newcomer. Well, it was a girl, like her last padawan. Well, with luck, hopefully she's one who smiles a bit more than Nagisa. Haven dryly remarked, remembering the formal attitude of her previous Padawan.

Haven was dressed in a charred black set of Jedi robes, causing her pale features and white hair to stand out further. With a warm smile, she greeted the girl. "Well, do come in!" She exclaimed, stepping towards Misha anyway. The girl was around her own height, but otherwise looked rather different, given Haven's different species and all. "Hey there." She said, once they were within speaking range. "Looks like you are the unfortunate person who will be paired up with me..." With a wide grin, Haven made it obvious that the remark was a joke. "Please, call me Haven. Anything other than that makes me feel older than I already do..." The 30 year old sighed, offering her hand.

Misha was sometimes timid and docile and nature. She was both right now. The light poured through with opening of the door and Misha's eyes adjusted quickly since she was just outside. The woman who spoke to her, the only woman in the large circular room was frightening. Not by looks, or by opposition, or anything else that the woman could control, but only because Misha noticed how much of a difference she was from her old master.
The woman spoke comfortingly and shook Misha's fear a bit. Misha replied,
"Oh hello.. Erm- . . . I'm Misha. Misha Ivanovna but you can just call me by my first name."
Misha had hoped that her new master and her would fall into line together. Misha wasn't a tight-ass and hoped this master wouldn't be like some of the masters she's heard of on Coruscant. Well... She seemed nice enough, maybe there was hope.
Misha stepped forward and instead of a formal bow she extended her arm in a handshake. She used her right hand to make sure not to accidentally offend her with her left. That would be a terrible first impression.
"Uhm... What now?" Misha asked curiously.

Caught off guard by the blunt question, Haven was at a lost for what to say. Regaining her composure, she tried to supress her laugh, but the chuckling was only half-stifled. "I'm sorry!" Haven could barely manage, tempted to turn around and howl in laughter. "Excuse me, that was probably one of the bright spots so far this week. Not much has gone well, I must say..." She sighed, now indeed wondering what to do next. It had certainly been longer than she had herself percieved since her last training...

"Well, let us stop standing here awkwardly at least!" Haven grinned, gesturing towards a nearby bench. "I'll apologise in advance for any spans of time where I have to recollect myself. It's been quite a bit of time since my last Padawan was knighted, and my memory does indeed fail me at times." Taking a seat, Haven smiled to show that Misha should take a seat too. "So then, Misha." Haven said, clapping her hands together. "Care to tell me a bit about yourself?" Typically, after being assigned a Padawan, the master would recieve a file of sorts regarding the Padawan. Never being one to give much thoughts to such things, without a single exception, Haven would either neglect or forget about the files.

Misha thought for a second. And a weight was suddenly lifted off of her shoulders. Her master wasn't going to be a tight-ass.
"Sorry for the question. But yes, I agree let's not stand here so awkwardly anymore." Misha followed with a little chuckle. And sat near her new master.
"So just a question, but I feel like I'm behind in training. And would you be against me wearing selected clothes under my robes?" she was hopeful, but knew she'd probably not have the satisfaction of her desires met.

"I don't personally mind." Haven replied to the question, smiling at the intentions behind it. "As trivial as it is, I would wear something otherwise to these robes if not for the fact that I'm not as young as I once was." The Order's insistence upon some minor details was at times slightly amusing.

"But yes, you may wear what you wish unless we are to be meeting other members of the Order, or some other formal occasion." She said, standing up from her seat. "Back to training, how much, if any training have you received previously? I believe I was told that you had a previous master?"

Misha's eyes lit up. She could wear whatever she wanted. It was a miracle.
"I've participated in three training exercises. I've looked through the force, and used the force to lift rocks and manipulate the air. I've sparred with my old master, he has taught me about the lightsaber form I interest. An I've exercised using the force for enhancement... I've yet to make a lightsaber. And a small question, but is it possible that I make two lightsabers? I want one a single-hilt and a double-blade. It's unorthodox, but it's more or less, me." Misha was anxious to begin training. She wanted a lightsaber. It was what she was lacking. She also wanted to test her skills and be further educated in lightsaber contact.

"My master's name was Tieko, I'm sure you knew him. He was called into the war and I was reassigned masters."

Haven nodded, Misha was quite far into training from what she gathered. "No, though I am not acquainted with your former master, I'm sure they've done a good job of guiding you through thus far." Nevertheless, Haven was curious of what Misha was currently capable of before they continued the training further. "You have received some saber training?" Haven asked, confirming whether that was the case.

Raising a hand, a single silver tube drifted from a rack into Haven's hand. Passing the training saber over to Misha, Haven stepped back, taking her own double-bladed saber into her hands. "Show me what you are capable of, make sure not to pity me and hold back!" She joked, two ice blue blades appearing on each side of the longer hilt. Entering a defensive stance, Haven observed the girl in front of her, the form that she had previously been taught will become apparent soon.

It had only taken a few brief moments before Misha directed the lightsaber into my hands using the force. As soon as she felt the cold, silver metal firm within her hands, she activated the blue blade.
The double-bladed saber was blue. As soon as she saw my her new master's sabre she felt overwhelmed, and almost fell to the woman's feet. At that moment, she was hopeful... She was always hopeful, but she couldn't help but be overly-excited in it. Her new master could teach her... Teach her the one thing Master Tieko couldn't.

"Show me what you are capable of, make sure not to pity me and hold back!" At this, all Misha could do was gather herself and nod.

She noticed her master's defensive stance. "I don't know what to do" She thought.
She had only dueled once, and it wasn't a duel, but just a brief training exercise.
So Misha, knowing that she would at least be instructed on what to do, did the only thing she knew how to so far. She went into opening stance and waited for her master to throw the first strike.

Seeing that Misha seemed a little uncertain, Haven wondered if she had perhaps rushed this a bit. Nevertheless, Misha entered into a defensive stance, so Haven hoped she was not panicking or the sort. "Don't worry." Haven said, hoping to relieve some of the pressure on her Padawan. "Follow your instincts, this is not a duel." Smiling, Haven cleared the ground between them with two jumping steps, a firm but smooth grip on her saber hilt. The double saber was her preferred weapon, having trained with it since an early age. Haven spun as she reached Misha, jabbing with one end of the blade towards Misha's stomach before reversing the hilt and sweeping at Misha's legs with the other.

It was a direct manoeuvre, with the locations Haven targeted being core strike points in saber training. If Misha remained calm and treated it like a training exercise, she should not have too much difficulty deflecting or avoiding the attacks. Whether it worked or not, Haven would immediately jump backwards, interested to see whether Misha was one who would immediately counter attack, trying to seize the initiative, or the careful observing type.

Don't worry."
"Follow your instincts, this is not a duel."

The words lifted the pressure off of Misha's shoulders. At this moment, she shook the fear she'd had since she had walked through the doors of the training room. Misha wasn't afraid or under pressure anymore. She had all the time in the world to wait and watch. Every detail, every movement, she took it all in.

Her master started with a lunge,
Misha parried the attack moving to brace ready stance.
The next blow was almost sneaky enough, surely if she didn't have her focus sharp than she'd been tripped up.
With the sweeping strike to the legs Misha saw an opening.
She stepped back from the swipe and planted her feet secure again, bracing for the next attacks.

She wasn't used to watching both blades but he caught on quick enough.

"The dual-blades are ridiculous... I have to force myself to split my attention."

Haven chuckled. Misha had displayed the typical response to the weapon. "Don't let the double sided blades intimidate you. Despite it's understandable effect on someone who is not used to such a weapon, just keep in mind that there is no way for me to strike with both sides at once." She said, spinning the blade about her body. "Yes, the double-bladed saber is a great defensive tool as well as being extremly potent on the offensive end. However, it takes a lot more work to become comfortable with it certainly, and in some ways, is much more limited in it's capabilities."

Which was why Haven carried a standard saber with her at all times, but she was using the double-saber to better see how Misha reacts. She had done well, having deflected and avoided her testing strikes. Haven grinned, now she will test whether Misha was staying alert. Her left hand suddenly rose, attempting to seize Mishas' legs with the force, hoping to wrench her off-balance. Following this, Haven would move forward again, as though as if to attack, but in fact allowing what appeared to be an opening to be visible.

Misha wasn't caught totally off guard, for as when her master lifted her hand she knew it was an attack, but the force attack did take her off balance.

Misha saw the universe in milliseconds.
Her master closed space between them, and every single footstep Misha saw, she saw it in hypo real time.
As master haven moved closer Misha swept at her feet in a twirling motion to make space and back peddle moving back to opening stance.

"Opening" Misha said to herself in her head.
It was most likely given to her, but it was a test. Meaning that she'd have to play along.
She juked left and swept right towards the her master's side in an attempt to strike at her opening.

"I see. That makes sense. I can split my attention between the blades really anyways, so it doesn't matter whether you attack with both or not. I'm also getting the idea behind movements of the blades."
She was still trying to figure out which lightsaber form her master was using. She wasn't sure whether it was makashi, soresu, or even shien.

Yes, the double-saber could not strike with both blades at once... But it can certainly defend and counter-attack simultaneously. As Misha drifted to her left, so did Haven, widening the distance between them when Misha attacked. Bringing herself nearly parallel to the girl, Haven held the saber hilt tightly, tilting the left side downwards, allowing her right blade to take in Misha's blow. Following the contact, Haven bent her knees, bringing her right blade downwards suddenly, hopefully causing Misha to be caught off guard. As a result, her left blade curved upwards, aiming at Misha's midsection.

Haven would return to a defensive stance, gathering an idea of what form of combat to guide Misha through.

Misha was in the zone...
There were no words exchanged, no emotions displayed, just her and her master.
Misha could feel that she was getting better even just sparring with her new master, she was learning, she was bonding.

Is this the force bond that's spoken of when a master and padawan, for a lack of better words, "click"?

Misha cleared her mind and matched her master saber for saber.
Her movements with the twin-blades was completely fluid. Every attack prepared the next, every movement tallied with the last.

Misha saw this as a strength.
Misha saw this as... a weakness.

She thought for a second, she thought how it would be if she thought there was an attack, that was really a movement, that was dressed to look like an attack, but actually came from a different direction.

Misha twirled around left on her left foot, hoping to attack horizontally from her right with her saber.

((What was that post about your mum? o.O))

Haven allowed her mind to go clear, feeling the flutters in force activity as her Padawan maintained her effective force senses. So far, Haven was impressed, Misha's use of force aided senses having allowed her to react than what her experience would have suggested.

"Nice!" Haven stated crisply.

As Misha avoided her blow, spinning to her left, Haven pivoted backwards, giving Misha a light nudge with the force, hoping to make her spin a bit harder than she would have wanted. Regardless, Haven followed suit with a rolling stab, targeting Misha's grip upon her training saber.

Having seen what Misha had been able to do so far, Haven would deviate from her normal training procedures. She knew that Misha was up for more of a challenge, and Haven had no intent to hold her back. Once her stab was completed, Haven would not press the attack, wanting to see Misha's reaction before stopping or to continue the exercise.

((lol nothing xD ))

Misha had the rush of a giddiness flow through her spine. It was the force nudge that allowed her to spin faster...
In training, Misha always suspected that the master knew what was going on in Misha's head, and simply allowed her to follow through with it, as a way of analyzing the student. As with this, she suspected her master knew that the blade wasn't the attack but the foot she had raised off of the ground in her spin.

With that she pump-faked a lightsaber stroke to avoid the strike of her master towards her lightsaber hilt in an attempt to force her to overshoot and to fake the attack. At the same time Misha allowed the momentum of her spin to throw out an inertia propelled low kick to her master's leg.

"Opening" she thought to herself.

She analyzed movements, and anticipated where her master would strike by watching the other end of her lightsaber.
She had her next foot movements mapped out on the ground already, she would follow through into another brace ready stance if her attack planted. If not, she would switch directions and follow through into opening stance.

((We are in a training thread, so it doesn't really matter, but when you are in a thread with someone else, make sure not to say 'anticipated the move' or just 'knew' what was to happen in general. Some people might get a bit mad at it :p))

As Misha lifted her saber away from the stab, Haven followed through with the roll. When Misha struck out with her foot, Haven smiled, calmly lifting the side of her saber closer to Misha upwards in a sweeping movement. If Misha did not move her leg aside, she would be greeted with a searing kiss from the currently low intensity blade. Once her roll was completed, Haven rose smoothly back onto her feet, bringing her saber in front of her with a flourish. A moment later, Haven grinned brightly, deactivating the blades and clipping it back to her belt.

"Well done." She remarked, making her way to Misha with light but long strides. "Did you have a particular saber style that you have interest in? Otherwise, from what I saw, you are probably more suited to Soresu, the form that I utilise." A defensive form would serve her well, though composure is certainly something that improves along with experience. Knowing when to counter-attack most effectively is certainly crucial to mastering the form.

ooc: fixed the post btw and replying now :P

Misha kept her eye steady on the tail end of the double-blade. And her master's movements as a whole.
The kick barely missed it's target, by inches, her master had managed to roll underneath the kick and the tial end of the lightsaber was heading in the opposite direction.
Misha lifted her left foot off the ground in a sort of hopping motion over the blade, diving forward into a roll, and exiting into brace ready stance.

Immediately, her blade was met with a flurry of attacks from her master.
Each clash meeting with a crashing spark.

The spar was over, signified by the twin blades retreating into their hilt.

"Soresu was the form that I was previously being instructed on by master Tieko. And so, I would like to stay with this form."
She recalled the blue training saber's blade back into it's hilt and gave a low bow.
