Criminal Shut-down

Keita woke up early in the morning, stretching as he got out of bed. He looked towards his bed stand to see his communicator had a message for him. He yawned as he made quickly started checking the message. It simply read Padawan, you will be meeting with Cain Umari, a fellow Padawan who will be joining you on your mission. Your mission is as follows, you will be dealing with a heavy gang in the slums of Coruscant. You have been chosen to participate in this due to your understanding of the criminal underground. You task is simple. Stop them at all costs and attempt to hand them over to authorities. Good luck and may the force be with you.

With that in mind, he quickly ran the mission over in his head as he was taking his shower. This was his first proper mission and he was not going to let the Jedi down. This would be his first encounter with a fellow Jedi Padawan and he wasn't sure what to expect from this Padawan at all. he quickly got himself dried off before starting to get into his normal attire which consisted of a black shirt, black shorts, his red bracers and his signature red hair clips which was formed to make the Roman numeral 10. He quickly packed a bag with some black shoes, just incase he needed them and his double bladed lightsaber which he attached to the back of his shorts. He quickly tucked the blade away by covering the back of his shirt over it. He quickly made his way down to meet the fellow Padawan at the steps of the temple.

Cain was pulled out of his sleep by a familiar and irritating voice.
"Hey, Tart wake up."
Cain opened up his eyelids slowly and saw the holographic image of a woman who beared the same features as his sister standing on his holopad. He let out a sigh of annoyance and pulled the pillow over his head. He waved his hand lazily at the datapad resting on his nightstand in an effort to shut it off.
The voice only scoffed "I'm not an alarm clock you numbskull, now wake up. Your sister knew this would happen."
"Go away Sofia...." He grumbled half asleep. Sofia was an his sister's AI, who was unofficially their babysitter since their parents were busy with other order related assignments. "How did you even get on there, it's biometrically locked...."
"Wireless connection, and some of the material on here does not look appropriate for one studying the jedi arts....."
"Sofia!"
The AI only giggled at his dismay. "Kidding, jeez always so serious."
Cain huffed and sat up in his bed, rubbing his tired eyes as he knew he was getting no more sleep. "What do you even want? Why aren't you with Tamara?"
The construct crossed her arms and paced back and forth on Cain's holopad. "Your sister is preforming a mission for your father and gave me the task to wake you up, because you have a mission as well."
Cain's eyes widened at that. A mission? He could finally get out there and put his new moves to some use. "Really? When did this happen?"
Sofia paused for a moment before a wall of text appeared on the datapad. She moved off to the side so Cain could actually read the words on it. "Just today. See this is why your sister keeps telling you it's important to have a sleep schedule. If it weren't for her you would have missed this."
Cain paid the hologram no mind as he read the mission details. He sighed and got up as he made his way to his cloest and began to take out his vestments. He was about to undress and get in the shower, but turned back around towards Sofia who was still present.
"Um....Sofia?"
She shrugged. "You humans and your privacy, see you around Tart." With that the blue woman vanished into his datapad.
"Finally" Cain sighed once more as he took the time to wash himself and get dressed. Having done that he clipped his saber and comlink to his belt and heading off to meet the other padawan. Hope this one isn't afraid of fighting, the last guy nearly got me killed.

Keita sat on one of the temple steps, waiting for the other one to arrive. It was quite peaceful sitting on the steps of the temple's entrance, looking on to the busy world of Corascant compared to the eerie quietness of the temple. A group of Jedi passed Keita on the steps and gave him a weird glance, obviously staring at all his stitches. He simply gave them a cold glare back as they made their way up the stairs. He sat and waited for Cain to arrive, he tried to think what Cain would be like. He thought that he would be as disciplined as the other Jedi. Would he be older than Keita, taller, would he be better at fighting than him, what about his force abilities? Keita sat down and got lost in his dreams. It was common now, day dreaming off into space thinking about unravelling the secrets of the force. There he just sat, waited and dreamed till the fellow Padawan joined him

Cain rushed to the temple entrence and took a moment to try and find his fellow padawan. He spotted a young boy sitting on the steps alone and in deep though and, seeing no other option he approached. "Hey, are you the other padawan? I'm Cain Umari, and I'm training to become a jedi guardian. Whats your name?" He wasn't big on talking very much, but the boy seemed to be slightly distraught from what he could tell and his mother had always lectured him on making good first impressions.

"Hey, are you the other padawan? I'm Cain Umari, and I'm training to become a jedi guardian. Whats your name?"

Keita turned towards the sound of the voice and there was Cain, his partner for this mission. He did a quick observation of Cain, he certainly did look like a Jedi. The braid clearly symbolised that he was a Padawan with a master. He smiled as he stood up and extended his hand towards him. "My name is Keita Takota. I'm new here so I'm not sure what I will want to become. This is my first mission, so don't mind my solemn mood. I heard it was shutting a gang down in the slums section." He flashed him a quick grin before starting to make his way down the temple steps, his bare feet quietly making light echoes. He quickly walked down to a speeder at the bottom of the temple "I do hope you know how to drive these things. I can direct"

Cain nodded as his listened to his supposed partner. He was never a fan of working in teams, but he supposed that he would need to get used to it at some point; though he much prefered being with his sister. As the dou made their way to the speeders, he heard Keira's question and felt slightly uncomfortable. "Well, I can.....but I'm not suppose to......but i think in this situation it'll be fine." Cain reasoned, after all he didn't mean to drive straight into the holoboard that one time. He took up the driver side of the speeder and powered it up as he familiarized himself with the settings. "So your new? What planet are you from?"

"Well, I can.....but I'm not suppose to......but i think in this situation it'll be fine."

Keita felt kinda bad for putting Cain in the spot but it was necessary. he knew the rough directions from the slums, he had spent a little bit of time going over the maps. He quickly climbed in the passenger side of the speeder. "You'll be fine, its probably required for the mission anyway. Just drive towards the slums and we can walk from there." He knew Cain felt awkward around him, it was plainly obvious.

"So your new? What planet are you from?"

"Nar Shaddar, I'm afraid. I only arrived round here around two weeks ago. How long have you been a Jedi?"

Cain moved the speeder out of the vehicle bay slowly as he plugged his datapad into the port. "About six years now. My father and mother are both knights. They were training us a little back home on Corellia, but the war made my dad come back. Mom's running the clinic they own right now, and my sister has been training for the same time i have. You'll figure out what you want to do soon enough."

 

[Cheshire]

"Hmm Six years? Who's your master? So you were brought up in the order., hmm what was it like? Also a sister? Well you are lucky... as you know, Nar Shaddar isn't exactly friendly..." Keita looked away for a moment a slight glance of sadness. No, he wasn't going to be pityfu. This would be the time he showed the jedi what he could do! He turned around to face Cain again. "I'll figure it out at some point."

"Dont have one. Well not officially..... Kinda still looking to get pick up at some point." He heard Keita mention Nar Shadda and get quite. Cain took one look and could tell that the boy seemed ashamed of his origin. He knew his father often ventured to the city planet years ago to do charity work and try to help those in then lowwer slums. He eventually had to give up on it after street gangs began harming people just to lure him into ambushes due to their hatred for the Republic. But the boy was right, Nar Shaddaa was not a nice place to be. "It's alright, you'll figure it out later. Also, if you ever try anything funny with my sister I'll have to hurt you." Cain paused just for the drama value as he pulled the speeder up and into a traffic lane.

"You don't have one? Even I have a master and I've been here for two weeks." It was quite unbelievable considering the fact that he had a master and yet that Cain didn't have a master was quite astounding to him. As for the sister thing that was quite unexpected, he didn't expect that at all. "I don't plan to do anything! I just said you were lucky to have a sister and someone to look out for you. Damn...." As they pulled up to the traffic lane he noticed how Cain had paused just to let that sink in. He didn't appreciate it but hell, he would put up with it for now. "Also, if it's anyone hurting anybody, it's gonna be me hurting you." he smirked

Cain was unsure about that statement. First of all what was a 'Jesus'? Even from all the obscene words he has heard his mother say that expression never came up once; and his mother had said alot of things. Also, how would this new padawan be able to hurt him? "I'd love to see you try. Ever hear of the Kanja Club?" Cain stopped himself before he continued. This mission wasn't going to work if he was wanting to gut his partner every two minutes. Cain sighed, this was going to be a long day, but at least the little guy was willing to stand up to him; not many padawans would do that. Well, he did come from Nar Shaddaa.... "Never mind. It's nothing against you, just have to make sure everyone knows. Guess you can see why no one will take me as their padawan."

Keita smiled, at the look of confusion on Cain's face as he said Jesus, many people on Nar Shaddar used it and that was how people picked it up. They used it often when debating with someone. Keita looked visibly confused when Cain mentioned the Kanja Club, what the hell was that. "The Kanja club, sounds like a fighting place which is my type of place, show me it at some point." He felt bad as Cain explained why he perhaps never had a master. "You'll get a master at some point. No offence was taken, I was just playing around.There is the entrance to the slums! Over there!" He pointed down to an eb=entrance at an alleyway.

Cain saw where was pointing and turned the speeder towards the spot. He didn't tell Keita that Konja club smuggled spice on Corellia, but he had no reason to let him know. "Did they do the lightsaber safety course with you? You said you've been here two weeks right? A misaligned auxileray cortex could get you killed." Cain hide back a smirk as he had completely made the course up, but once again, he had no reason to tell the new padawan the truth.

"Hmph don't play me for a fool Cain, I know how training works and I know they don't have a course for that. I read up on all of these things when I first joined. I think they thought I was going to kill another Padawan during training the other day so don't question my ability to fight." As Cain neared the stop, Keita quickly jumped out the side, making a tiny bounce as he landed at the entrance. "You first, you can show me how it is done" he smirked waiting for him to take the lead.

Cain shrugged the comment off, slightly disappointed he couldn't trick the younger padawan. Seeing that they arrived, Cain powered down the speeder. "If you insist."
The half human drew his cylinder shaped weapon as he left the vehicle. He kept his finger on the activation switch as he approached a small gathering of thuggish indivduals. He didn't care for the sudelty, if they didnt run he'd just maim them.
