DESCRIPTION
The Dagger-class starfighter was a combat spacecraft manufactured by Republic Sienar Systems, the predecessor to the Sienar Fleet Systems. A direct ancestor to the infamous TIE/LN starfighter, also of Sienar design, the Dagger was a cheap, readily available ship prior to and during the Clone Wars. Though it was discontinued by Sienar in the Imperial era to make way for TIE production, the Dagger is amazingly still produced under license by a number of Outer Rim shipwrights in the present day, making it one of the oldest starfighter types still in regular use. In the present day, they can mainly be found in the hands of backrocket planetary militias, private security forces and pirates.

The Dagger is a tri-foil design, incorporating a central cockpit surrounded by 3 blade-like stabilizers. The ship is armed with 3 light laser cannons, and unlike much of the later TIE line, is equipped with a class 2 hyperdrive as standard. Like the TIE, however, the Dagger lacks any kind of shielding, or even a life support system, with pilots being forced to wear a sealed environmental suit in space. Daggers are nimble, but they are not quite as maneuverable as TIEs owing to inferior inertial compensators.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Daggers are starfighters, if poor ones, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To create a standard starfighter.
