CREDITS: 1,000 credits

STRENGTH: 6/10. Slightly above average for a male of Mar's age and fitness-level, but nothing special.
DEXTERITY: 7/10. Earlich is light on his feet and it shows in the dare-devilish stunts he uses to outmaneuver would-be victims and pursuers. His lithe frame and swift hands give him a naturally affinity for slight-of-hand and for using weapons.
CONSTITUTION: 6/10. Mar is hardy due to his rough-living; if he was not, he would not have survived long in his profession.
INTELLIGENCE: 8/10. As an architect, he is well-versed in geometry, trigonometry, and physics. He is also highly educated in social sciences, meaning that there are few areas of discussion he cannot speak upon with authority. What portion of this information has become lost to disuse has been replaced with “street wise” from his edgy form of life, making him a very cunning and formidable individual.
WISDOM: 1/10. Mar is not naïve by any stretch of the term, but he is utterly devoid of any sense of acceptable societal norms. Having substituted them for a sick and convoluted concept of justice, Earlich will do virtually whatever he pleases, regardless of how advisable his actions might be.
CHARISMA: (6)2/10. Mar is moderately-attractive and witty, but his finer traits are marred (pun intended, ha-ha) by his twisted philosophies, melancholy disposition, and insulting nature. He doesn't allow this to infiltrate business deals, of course, but outside of that he is highly unlikable.

SKILLS:
Duros Astronavigation – As a Duros, Mar is very familiar with piloting and traveling through space.
Fault-finder: Earlich Mar can see faults and flaws in virtually anything, and this skill can be used in a variety of ways, be it in interrogation or in battle.
Pistols – They are Mar's favorite type weapon simply because they are fast, concealable, and they have style. That being said, he gets quite a bit of practice with them.

FORCE SENSITIVE:
No.

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS:
None.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Strengths:
Duros Astronavigation: Duros are naturally adept when it comes to space-travel, and Earlich Mar is no exception.

Weaknesses:
Perhaps his greatest weakness is his lack of particular strengths or specialties.

GEAR: (I intend to provide more information concerning his gear as his character is developed.
-DE-10 Inspired Blaster Pistol.
-Two MM9 “Dumb” Wrist Rockets (launched from weapons gauntlet).
-Slug Rifle
View attachment 238
-Weapons Gauntlet (Capacity: Up to 1 Wrist Rocket/Dart at a time.)
-Life support package/hose

SHIP:
Black Gavel _ Similar to a Deepwater-Class Light Freighter
- 1 Dual Laser Cannon
- 2 Crew (Minimum of 1)
- Up to 5 Passengers
- Up to 90 Metric Tons of Cargo

PETS:
1 Ysalamiri (Named 'Izzed' after his dead son.)

PERSONALITY:
Earlich Mar is a horrible and twisted individual, corrupted by his rationalizing of the morbid events that stole his life from him. A megalomaniac and a major hazard to anyone within twenty feet of him, Mar is the epitome of a broken mind. Only the promise of future profits keeps in check the psychotic desire to pronounce judgment upon the guilty world around him.

Earlich is a surprisingly good actor, for to speak with him in ordinary conversation, one might struggle to see that there was anything wrong with the man. Arrogant, yes. A little cruel, yes. But a madman? Probably not. Nevertheless, the truth is only a little way beneath the surface, and when it shows itself, it is terrible to behold.

Mar manages to overlook the faults of his close associates simply for the sake of convenience, meaning that his close relationships are quite fine and beneficial. Others, however, rarely escape his judgment; he is an expert fault-finder and uses this skill to dissect people's minds and to find hypocrisies of all sorts. In a sense, he does this to confirm his theory that everyone is guilty of wrongdoing, and thus far he has yet to be proven wrong.

When Mar is not doing business and has interaction with others, his words are almost poisonous; to hear him speak is disgusting and vile. He makes one's insides churn, so bitter is he towards all others. Horrible and twisted analogies are often incorporated into his speech, and he will often mock or insult the person to whom he is speaking in whatever way best suits him.

BIOGRAPHY: (An interview)

Log Entry 1: *A raspy, multi-layered voice drawls from a tape recorder* “Yeah, I'm Hud Mar. First name? Earlich. How do I spell it? E-A-R-L-I-C-H... I beg your pardon? Yes, I know that spells 'Ear-Lich', you bottom-dweller! It's pronounced 'Ehrlick'. Eh? Not much bette...One more remark like that and I'll shove m'fist down your throat. So, you said you wanted to interview me? What about?...My life? Ha! You'll be the first to care.

“Well what can I say. I've always had to choose between bad options and worse options. Take my original profession, for example. I was a chief architect, actually. What I said went, and I was glad for it simply because I was easily the most competent being in my department. The others were not as stellar; their work was sloppy and their artistic appreciation lacking. That gave me two bad options. I could either let my subordinates get on with their work the way they saw fit and make our customers unhappy, or I could point out the flaws in the work and make my subordinates unhappy. Of course, if I wanted to keep my job then I needed to keep our customers happy, so naturally I harped on those beneath me to alter their methods. I subsequently rose in the company and they didn't like me for it. Still, they respected my position as judge over their work and thus quarrels were kept to a minimum.

“But yes, I worked with a space-based manufacturing company. As a Duros, I felt more comfortable in space anyhow, as did my wife and my son. My wife? Her name was Yrna. She was absolutely...absolutely...radiant. I can't honestly think of a better word to describe the poor woman. Our marriage was the one obviously good choice I was ever able to make. We were married when I was twenty-six. She was twenty-four at the time, and she continued to dazzle me for the rest of our marriage. She bore me a son two years later. He was much like m'lady, really. Izzed, we called him. In your tongue it loosely means 'entertaining', and he was so! Hahaha! 'Couldn't look at the boy without smiling! Hehe! Ah... poor lad. What's that? Why were they 'poor', you ask? They're dead, God rest their souls.

“I suppose you'll be wanting to know how it happened, eh? You bloodsucking muckraker...well, I was given two bad options. I could leave my family behind and move away to finish my work, or I could bring them with me and inconvenience them with my space-based career. I didn't wish to leave my wife and child behind, so naturally I brought them with me. It wasn't ideal, but again, it was the more profitable of two evils. I shouldn't say it like that; things weren't all as bad as I make them out to be. We had a flat in the station that constituted my place of work, and it was sizable enough for the three of us. It was a good life, and Yrna and I did everything that society told us we should be doing.

“It was all robbed from me when my boy was nearly one-and-a-half years old, or rather, about 1.2 years into my architectural career. My station was commissioned to do a building project on Dathomir, so we relocated there. Shortly after our arrival at Dathomir, the station was attacked by brigands and Bogan Dark Jedi. A Jedi relief force was sent, but they were quickly butchered and sent packing. My wife...she.......she was shot, along with my child. I barely escaped with my life.

“W-what? No, you don't understand! What was I supposed to do? Die there defending them? Believe me, I tried to save them, but they were dead long before I could do anything. So go ahead, judge me! Call me a cad for not defending their rotting cadavers! *Moody silence* There wasn't a right thing left to do. Perhaps I oughtn't have fled, but I am certain I shouldn't have stayed. The point is that my world had ended. Everything I had lived for up to that point perished on that cursed station. So I went into business of 'odd jobs', and I've worked as a bounty hunter for the past four years or so.

“That's when I developed most of my life-philosophies, really. What were they, you ask? Well, look at things from my perspective. Everything I had been told was right and proper was trashed in the fifteen minutes escaping that deathtrap of a space station. Society was hurled to the winds. The Jedi, with their talk of the 'Force' being the supreme good and ultimate power, should have won that day, but they didn't. They got their hinds handed to them! If they were truly right and mighty to aid us, they would have won the battle and saved my darling Yrna! They would have protected my helpless child instead of saving their own skins! So the Jedi are hypocrites, and everything they stand for is meaningless.

“And the Bogans? They are equally wrong; they brought about my calamity. Their perception of the 'Force' is as twisted as any. Witches and blasphemers the lot of them! I'd kill them all if I had the chance! So you see, there was nothing left from which to choose that I believed to be righteous; for everyone is equally wrong. That's how I got into the bounty-hunting trade; if every choice we make is wrong, then I may as well make the choices that profit me most.

What's this I hear? You say I'm twisted? You would accuse me of treachery? You think I've deluded myself into thinking I'm above the law? Let me tell ye' something. I AM THE LAW! The law is supposed to protect us, and when it ceased to protect me, I ceased to obey! I am my own protector now! I am the enforcer, the judge, and the standard by which all are judged! I'll take on any case because everyone's guilty!”
(To be continued.)

skimmed it a little bit but unless this is for the next timeline there are no Sith in our current (Replace Sith with Dark Jedi)

Your ending made me think of judge dredd (including sylvester stallones voice saying it :P)

Maybe someone else who doesnt skim it can give you a few more finer points

Ooh, good eye on the Sith thing; I totally would have missed that. And yeah, I thought of Stallone when I was writing it, honestly, but the two were unrelated and I did not have any intention of emulating the man when I wrote this guy up. Thanks for the input; I appreciate it immensely.

Just wondering, you state "Mar is the epitome of a broken mind" - so I first gathered him to be totally nuts, then you go on to say "But a madman? Probably not", so is he criminally insane or just a complete a-hole? I like how you describe his skewed perspective on life and how he is teetering on the verge of sociopathic and psycho. I'm assuming that he's like this because of the traumatic experience of losing his wife and kid? But, while it's a tragedy, and it affects people in a multitude of ways - not everyone who loses loved ones automatically turns psychotic. You discuss his changing views of philosophy etc. he despises the Jedi and Sith alike, but this doesn't explain his "broken mind". The psychology behind his personality could be fleshed out a little more :) and then tied in nicely with his life-philosophies. Obviously you want to keep an air of mystery about him, you don't have to rant about his past too much - this can emerge during the rp writing process. But generally characters aren't just nuts because they're just nuts. He's got a chip on his shoulder concerning justice because his family was killed, but I think if you develop and play with this idea a bit more you can come up with an excellent explanation for why he's sorta losing his mind? Is he losing his mind? Again, not sure if you intended him to be insane or just a cruel bastard.
All in all I really like the sound of this character :) he's fatally flawed but manages to make his own way in the galaxy. I'd suggest keeping him for the new timeline rather than wasting him on the current one, you won't have enough time to do him any justice.

@Miranda: Thank you so much for the advice! I really appreciate your taking the time to search the character so thoroughly. In answer to one of your questions, the "...but a madman? Probably not." bit was in reference to his capability to hide his strangeness to some degree. As with many people, one might not suspect him of being capable of craziness just by talking to him. Perhaps I didn't word that quite carefully enough in the paragraph, so I'll take another look at it.

@Trellheim: Thanks for the confirmation. A second opinion is always helpful.

I'll be sure to flesh him out a bit more based upon your advice. Thanks again!
