Reuben Lace looked as the foolish senator of Castell debated with the Kushari representative. It was foolish, but expected because everyone one of them wanted the best for their planet's safety. He began thinking about more important matters that would propel the outcome of the war in their favor. He began to talk one more time.

"I understand your concerns senator of Castell," Reuben said as his voice rang through the halls, "but we have more pressing matters at hand. With the respect of the Alliance and the Senate, the planet of Naboo votes in favor of a no contest between Castell and the Kushari Federation. Doing so would allow the Alliance to welcome the Federation with open arms. Also after the vote I would like to open a ballot for a military draft on a Yay or Nay basis. All males between the ages of 21 human years and 45 human years will be conscripted into the Army or Navy; Women would be exempt from mandatory enlistment."

Reuben knew that it would save time for the no contest vote because it would be a majority rules vote. Since the majority of the Senate already voted in favor of the alliance, it would be official.

It was only briefly, a mere stitch in time, but Valafar's composure slipped. His eyes narrowed and the corner of mouth pulled down into a half-frown. He couldn't even imagine conscription on such a basis. The Galactic Alliance was composed of hundreds of planets, each roughly the size of Coruscant. Which means they would conscript a billion people per planet. How could they enforce such a rule with that in mind? Valafar shook his head. To top it off, the daft motion that a huge conscripted army of soldiers were better than a small army of motivated, well-trained volunteers was outrageous to him.

"The matter of a draft is inconsequential at this time. As such, voting on it shall be dropped. If the Senator of Naboo would like to know why, he may grace me with a visit at a later time." He flicked his wrist dismissively.

"Now, if there are no further matters to be brought before congress, we will return to the matter of the Kushari."

Valafar had been watching the polls on the screen of his console closely. In the end, they had more than a simple majority voting to accept the Kushari. Far beyond requirements. The Chief inwardly smiled. This was one of the only bright spots of his day. The Kushari would make a fine ally to the Galactic Alliance, in times of war or times of peace.

After a pause he said, "It pleases me to announce that we have sufficient votes to aquiesce to the Kushari's request for inditement into the Galactic Alliance. I would like to be the first to officially welcome Lord Admiral Kun and the Kushari people into the Galactic Alliance." His smile was that of a politician.

Mirshen looked up and over at Reuban as he spoke of a draft. Was he mad that would make their army sure larger but the war hadn't even started yet. There was no need for a draft when you had no enemy. With a look at the other Senators Mirshen spoke looking at the Gungan.... funny he thought the Empire had killed them all when they refused to bow down. Mirshen was about to speak but was cut off by Valafar's speech, he could live with that. Mirshen looked at Valafar and nodded as he clapped, he was glad they had come to welcome the people. Slowly his pod went back to the wall and Mirshen sat down looking at the zeltrons with him. He didn't know if anything else would be discussed but well he was interested in seeing what happened.

Fa sat there looking at the chief. Whilst she was a little upset that she was unable to debate the matter further a decision had been made. She applauded conservatively with the other senators. It appeared as if this meeting had come to an end unless someone had something to say about the Empire that is

Jun sighed quietly in relief. It was done - the Kushari Federation was now a part of the Galactic Alliance. There was paperwork to be done and fine details to be hammered out, but that would be left to the lawmakers of the Alliance and the Councilors of the Federation. It was not his concern.

The feline turned to his Lieutenant and gently clasped his shoulder. "Return to the Serenity and take a courier ship to the homeworld. Inform them that we're now a part of the Alliance. I'll send a detailed report as soon as I can... Though that may not be necessary if we can get holonet access in UKF space."

His Lieutenant nodded. "Aye-aye, sir," the young Kushari replied. The Naval officer about-faced and left the pod via the small gantry it was affixed to, and made his way back to the Congressional building's docking bays to return to the Kushari delegation's corvette, which was docked planetside due to its relatively small size.

Once he was gone, Jun smiled thinly. It was a good day - the Kushari would be a part of a grand alliance of worlds, and would have all the technology they had ever dreamed of. However, it came with a cost; war was upon the galaxy, and it was all too likely that the people of the Federation would be called upon to serve in the armies of the Alliance. He knew his people well, though; they wouldn't back down from a good fight, not when the enemy's leadership was as wicked as the Sith.

Jotham joyously applauded. The Kushari, had been accepted into the Galactic Alliance, just as he'd hoped. It was him that was the first to meet them and he felt glad that something substantial had occurred because of that. However, there were other issues on the agenda.

War, something that still had yet to happen though it seemed ever closer. Even conscription had been proposed. At least that proposal had been shot down. However, it did seem that something would happen unless the Alliance had the diplomatic skill to either shunt the Sith onto attacking another target, or into attacking themselves. Distinct possibilities for the Sith. But that would still require incredible tact from the Alliance, something he wasn't sure they had.

Senator Tharis Voxxyn, a tall blue skinned Twi'lek in his early forties, applauded with the others, smiling slightly. Ryloth was far to the galactic south, away from the core and the empire in the lawless outer rim. The issues facing them usually involved pirates, smuggling, slavery, Hutts, or ambitious politicians like himself.

The Alliance was a useful conglomerate surely, but the Sith Empire would likely also be capable of supporting such bureaucracy, should it succeed in finally ending the galactic dualism of the past millennium. The trick was to side with the winners. Tharis had laughed to himself at the Jedi's earnest and worried exposition. The Jedi were so focused on light and dark, right and wrong, just like the Sith.

Both faction's held simplistic views, both sought to guide the direction of the galaxy, the methods alone were different. The Jedi had already resigned themselves to war and the Galactic Alliance followed the leading of their precious protectors like banthas. War was inevitable because both the Jedi and Sith believed it to be so. If war broke out, it would be a conflict of Jedi versus Sith, bickering over their archaic and ancient religion as they had for all of recorded history. Tharis smiled at the thought, momentarily entertained by the notion. Whoever came out victorious in such a conflict would become the new dominant force in the galaxy, all Tharis had to do was ensure that Ryloth, and to a larger extent, himself would profit by it.

Once admiral Jun had spoken, Tharis leaned over to his left and whispered to his his aide, an attractive red skinned female Twi'lek. He requested information on the Kushari, everything that was known, or could be quickly found out. He didn't expect much, but he had his sources.

Ryloth itself was a pit of criminals, the surrounding systems comprised of the same. RyllCorp, a corporation controlled by Tharis' family for a century, had dealings with many of these individuals and could generate a large supply of information if required. Tharis used this resource to his advantage often.

Already they were speaking of defense forces and were allowing the Kushari to slip into the Alliance untested, following the lead of their Chief of State as usual. Tharis pulled his electrum trimmed datapad from his black robes and scanned the information transferred to it by his aid as she worked her small terminal. The Kushari were a warlike people, that much was certain. After all, their emissary was himself a naval officer. The Alliance would undoubtedly utilize the Kushari as weapon against the Empire, liberally spilling the blood of a race that was willing to give to prove itself to the Alliance. For once Tharis felt the Congress had acted wisely. He did however, resolve to gather as much information as he could on the newly admitted Federation. Knowledge was power and if he knew the Kushari as they knew themselves he would be more readily equipped to form political alliances, or use the knowledge against them as the situation called for.
