Supposedly the one who trains Kylo Ren, though that's just speculation at this point. I'm hoping he's an alien character though if we're being honest. Need way more non-humans furr sure.

I wonder who Del Toro is playing?
Likely option: someone from the Knights of Ren.

My totally out there/almost certainly not true theory: the original Knight of Ren - Ezra Bridger.

That would be quite a crazy scenario, in the latter case who do you think Snoke would be, if not the original Knight?

IMO, where Snoke came from is set up in the novel Aftermath. That novel, if you haven't read it, is based around an emergency summit on Akiva between the surviving Imperial fleet commanders and a bunch of other big wigs from the Empire. They're trying to figure out what to do about the New Republic and how to save the Empire. One of the people there is a dark side historian who was an advisor to the Emperor. He wasn't a dark sider himself, but he did know a lot about it. He tells the commanders how the Emperor sent scientists and explorers out of the galaxy to try to find the source of the dark side. The Emperor believed that this source of the dark side, which he believed was extra-galactic, was where his own power came from.

The novel doesn't follow up on that, and in the context of the novel it's just something this guy mentions, but to me that seems like a big piece of info to drop without any intention of following up on it in any way. So I think Snoke is whatever they found at the source of the dark side, and that he's someone who has been watching and waiting for his chance to reveal himself. It allows Snoke to have seen all of the events of the films, and possibly even decades, centuries, or millennia before them too, while giving a good explanation of why he wasn't involved in any of it.

I love how they only give you a clip that looks exactly, if not the same, as the footage in Episode VII. Builds suspense.

I have a feeling that Episode VIII is going to open up on that scene again, and continue right where Episode VII left off. Which accounts for the fact that the scene was clearly reshot by Rian Johnson. That's a cool way to open a Star Wars movie. Never been done before.

That would be a good idea considering how fast episode VII ended, but it would be, er, breaking tradition? All the other movies have gaps in them, and so do the seasons in TCW and Rebels. It would be good for the story, but it might cause some people to, dislike the movie.

When I saw that Del Toro was casted I had to double check that Adam Driver was still cast as well. I feel like if they were going to make an aged Kylo, Del Toro could fit. He resembles Driver pretty decently.

I know next to nothing about actors, but it would be really funny if Del Toro's character was not a bad guy because everyone thinks he will be. That would be like, in your face you thought we were going to give you another villain nope.

If people dislike the movie because of that then their opinions should quite frankly be totally ignored. Just because something breaks with tradition doesn't make it bad.

Episode VIII could begin right where VII ended, but they could always do some time skips as both Kylo and Rey are trained. They don't have to be massive gaps, as it really didn't take Yoda long to teach Luke how to move rocks and such.

Del Toro I like, the others I don't know who they are.

And @Brandon Rhea about your theory on Snoke. If he found the source of the Dark side, did that make him a FU? Or did he just find it and still is not FS? But he know a whole bunch about the Dark Side of the force.

If Ezra turns out to be the first Knight of Ren, I guess rebels has a lot of character development and story to do between now and when we find out!

At the moment it just feels like a lot of stalling!

Snoke? My theory is that Snoke is from the source of the dark side, not that he found it. So presumably he'd be a Force user.

Oh, okay now I understand. So this adviser or scientist guy found Snoke when he went looking for the Darkside?

Or am I still wrong?

I have no idea who would have found him. Probably the research teams the Emperor sent out.

Smoke has to be a Force user because I'm pretty sure he said something about an awakening in the Force, and if he wasn't Force sensitive he wouldn't know about the awakening.
