I was wondering: why do all Padawans start out with Form "Zero", which was not an actual combat form but an ethical principal, rather than Form I: Shii-Cho, the style which all Jedi are taught since their youngling days? Was this something decided in the last timeline or something?

Actually makes sense. I am now wondering the same. Thanks for pointing this out. I haven't noticed before, really.

Form Zero is the teachings of when a lightsaber is to be used. Form I is how to actually use that lightsaber.

Technically, padawans should know both in the Jedi Order.

You learn the theory behind something before going though practical applications.

Shut up Boli, I was thinking up a smartass way to say it.:CIsee:

So is it safe to assume that Padawans can have Form I?

They can know the basics, they can't have mastered it.

Naturally, that's what I meant. It takes years and years to master styles. I think Kit Fisto was one of the few who did master Shii-Cho, come to think of it...
