Vergesso____________________THEME____________________Ask/Invite

Things were moving fast.

The Colossus had done nothing but stumble for years now.

How much longer before it fell over?

Andrena didn't know, but she certainly wanted to find out.

Preferably from a safe distance sipping mai tai's on a beach somewhere, but ehh. The view from the bridge from the view of a Star Destroyer would do, as would the view from her own ship. There was probably a profound, deep, quote available that said something on the subject which would sound smart, but fuck if Andrena knew one. All she knew was that the Kolto game was back. The Rebels had scored a big victory there, and aside from the nice ships that Manaan made, it also made a lot of the healing drug. Andrena knew that from personal experience. She also knew how picky the Selkath could be about parting with it to legitimate traders who just didn't happen to have the right documentation for the transportation of it. Not as picky as systems that wanted it, but the irony was still delightful in that she was now doing exactly what she had been, only this time no one was going to arrest.

Well unless she wandered into Imperial Space but, short of snorting a gallon of lead based spice, that wouldn't be happening anytime soon. Instead her destination was Vergesso. The Fox Squirrel moved deftly between the tightly packed asteroid belt, relying one part on the navidata transmitted, one part on her own astoundingly awesome piloting skills, and nine million parts luck. Asteroids tended to be predictable in their behavior, but if they were always predictable in their behavior they wouldn't be dangerous. It only took one moving differently than the sensor data said it should to ruin your day. Maybe it wasn't actually as dense as it seemed, maybe it had a volatile material, maybe any number of things. Vegesso more than others tended to be in state of flux as well. Finding the base there without the base helping you do so was so hard that a Corellian didn't even need to know the odds to know it was next to impossible.

Fortunately the base had told Andrena.

Or she hoped.

If they suspected something was wrong they could easily feed her coordinates that lead to a more volatile portion of the field where the rocks would make sure that the Fox Squirrel didn't last long enough to even send a transmission with the fake location.

Or they could lay a few ships in ambush and blast her into dust.

Or simple user error could doom her.

Really the possibilities were endless, but that was hardly reassuring in this instance.

Fortunately the cleverly nicknamed "rock" came into view. Andrena might not have known it was Vergesso Base if she hadn't made the run before, it didn't exactly turn the lights on and start shooting out fireworks when someone approached. Instead it remained pretty much dead on the outside, not even giving out landing instructions. If you forgot what you were supposed to do you were SOL.

Approaching the VAB was almost as tricky as every other bit of navigation in the field. Adjusting pitch, yaw, blah blah blah, avoiding tiny bits of rock that bumping or getting stuck to the hull and throwing you have just a hair. It was all very time consuming, and required great amounts of concentration. Andrena wondered if this was how they did things all the time in the days of yore, and whether or not those people had complained about how kids these days got it easy with the tractor beam.

As the Fox Squirrel touched down in the base itself after a few nerve racking minutes, the subterfuge continued. There was an atmosphere sure, and the little force field that magically kept space out so she could actually get out of the ship. However, there were no lights, no signs of maintenance personnel, no team of Rebels rushing towards the ship to start inspecting it for tracking devices.

This was the most interesting part of the whole thing, and for anyone trying to get aboard Vergesso. You weren't instantly stopped, and padded down, and all that fun. You were observed for about a half an hour. If you didn't follow directions, and tried to get out of the ship before that half hour was up...well that magical force field which kept space out would suddenly vanish, and you'd be learning first hand why they called space a vacuum.

Sitting there, Andrena went over the datapad signed with a mysterious rainbow colored M. She could tell from the way that "Operation Hydra" was written that whoever the hell the important Rebel person was, they were very annoyed at someone. It almost seem like this quiet rage, like she was pissed off at someone not doing something almost.

Andrena personally didn't like it.

It all just seemed...wrong.

It wasn't that she was some goody two shoes Jedi who paid lip service to the idea of helping people, and then just sorta hung around in a plush temple where their allies, and innocents, and even Sith, hell even Mandalorians were doing more to take the Imperium down.

But on the other hand, it was exactly that which made it seem like a good idea. Trillions were dying, and fighting for their freedom, was she really going to sit int he cockpit of her ship arguing the finer points of morality in her mind?

Wasn't doing every to end the war sooner, by bringing more forces to bear down on the Imperium, by any means necessary...

Wasn't that the right thing to do?

Damn the drivel that made the Jedi so indecisive, just act.

End the bloodshed.

End the fighting.

Keep the priorities straight.

That's what Andrena told herself every time she read the datapad and had her doubts. She just found another way to put them aside. There wasn't much point in doubting things at this juncture. Elrood was already in the crosshairs, ships were already being assembled for both acts, and supplies were already being routed to them as they were here.

About the only good thing the doubt was for, was for killing time. As soon as the thirty minute mark hit, the hangar flooded with personnel. Well maybe not flooded, but a pair of Rebels to start inspecting the ship for any bugs, a pair of rebels to do the maintenance stuff, and a couple loading droids headed up into the ship. Which meant that it was time for her to head down.

"Weapons, weapons, weapons, where are the weapons," She muttered to herself as she entered the The Rock proper.

The base....well it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaasn't the most impressive in the Rebellion that Andrena had seen.

Of course impressive, and Rebel base, didn't exactly go together. The idea was to not spend a lot of money on the secret bases that would probably get discovered by some incredibly far fetched, and unlikely to work, plot. Like tracing Rebel attacks on a map like a school child and deciding they must all come from the system you just happen to run your hand over. It meant a lot of busts before you got the real thing, but every once in a while someone got lucky.

On the other hand, Vergesso had one thing going for it that most of the other Rebel bases didn't.

Several things actually, things that were called cantinas when they were purpose built for it on Tatooine, and bars here on Vergesso. Either way, they brought you booze.

If this were a bar on a well populated world the kind term for it would be dead. It was dimly lit, a fan for the life support system circulating air lazily, and a Wookiee bartender. There were a few patrons, a couple playing a holoboard game and playing so fast that they'd probably sat at the bar and played each other every day for the last decade. There was a fat Selkath sitting on a stool at the end of the bar who looked like he'd been sitting there for years. There was also someone who looked like...well the words that came to Andrena's mind were chicken farmer, but was that ridiculous. Not that it mattered, the point was that by the standards of a supposedly abandoned rock in an asteroid belt, that no one could locate very easily, the bar was pretty well populated. So forgetting the weapons momentarily, Andrena pulled a barstool, and ordered something strong and green.

And then she gave a little toast.

"Hail hydra," She said with a little salute, and downed the drink. She wondered what would happen if anyone ever found out exactly what it was they were about to do. False flags kinda sucked like that, probably why they weren't done all that often. But that would be someone else's problem, probably the rainbow M persons.

Hers was just getting it done, but that seemed bad enough.

So she decided to get drunk .
