Character Bio [ABANDONED]
(This was previously a work in progress, however further effort towards this "version" of her backstory has been ceased. I suppose I should've structured her biography before making the mistake of writing aimlessly. Anyways, you can consider this a "rough draft.")
Terrian was born as the "love child" of Theodore Caesarius, a Sith who had gained infamy due to his merciless actions in combat, and Juno Morningstar, a peerless diplomat and well-respected aristocrat of sometimes questionable morality. Some may describe Terrian's youth as "easy," even going as far as saying it was "carefree." Despite the baseless nature of those claims, made solely on account of her parents' position within The Empire, they weren't completely devoid of truth. She did, in fact, benefit greatly from the privilege that came with her parents' occupations. However, it was her "abnormal" domestic situation that made her childhood so difficult. After all, what backstory is complete without at least a hint of tragedy?
Terrian's father, Theodore, was cruel and would often abuse her physically as well as emotionally, and when he wasn't tormenting his daughter he'd do one of two things; remind her that she'd always be a failure in his eyes, regardless of the great lengths she took to desperately try to please him, or muster whatever mercy he still had left in his seemingly shrivelled up heart, pretending that she didn't even exist. Although it was never clear whether it was mercy that compelled him to cease his assault every now and then, or if it was simple boredom. His efforts had eventually led to results that "pleased" him, those being the countless nights Unfinished-chan spent crying herself to sleep, contemplating ways she could alleviate the resentment he held towards her. As the years went by without any signs of her situation improving she eventually gave up, submitting to his senseless hatred, remaining docile as he chastised her time and time again. He had always hoped for a Force-sensitive child that he could raise as his apprentice, passing his legacy on to them once they came of age, but instead of his ideal Sith child, he ended up with a wonderfully disappointing daughter. Terrian didn't want to admit it, but unless she miraculously gained the ability to use the Force, there was nothing she could have done to satisfy him.
Terrian's mother, Juno, on the other hand, was the most "nurturing" woman you could find in The Empire. She provided much needed maternal care and wisdom in times of distress, perfectly balancing her attentions with just the right amount of Imperial ruthlessness and motherly affection. However consoling and supporting Terrian wasn't the only thing she did as a mother, albeit she was amazing at it nonetheless, she also educated her to the best of her own abilities. Instead of focusing on the skills that Terrian didn't and would almost certainly never have, she did her best to develop the talents that her daughter already possessed. It was through her mother's guidance that Terrian developed her natural gifts into a refined skill set that included a variety of things such as subterfuge, the art of manipulation, psychoanalysis, social intelligence, superficial charm, and more of the like. Whether the training actually helped or simply strengthened some possibly sociopathic tendencies- presumably unbeknownst to Juno -is still up for debate. Either way, it's undeniable that her improved skills would help her later in life.
Though it cost Terrian a normal, healthy childhood, her experience with parents that were polar opposites made her into a considerably well-rounded individual, fully capable of functioning normally. With the exception of a "minor" case of emotional damage, she was to have a perfect life. She'd become a diplomat, following her mother's example, surpass her peers, and finally make her father proud by earning the title of Grand Moff.
Or at least, that's how it should have been...
After all she'd been through, that's what she deserved.
In her late teens, midst preparing to attend a small social event held by a few minor government officials, Unfinished-chan received news of a tragedy that shook both her and the rest of The Empire: most of The Moff Council had been murdered on Korriban. Her mother, the only person who truly mattered to her, was most likely dead. Unfinished-chan was convinced that it was all just some bad dream and that she'd return to reality at any moment, but she quickly realized that was not the case once regained consciousness shortly after blacking out. Party guests gathered around to witness as she was overtaken with delirium, her eyes wide with fear as her mind became cloudy, she couldn't help but feel trapped in a state of complete denial. It was barely more than a day later that she was informed of the state of her mother, over twenty-four hours of trying to convince herself that everything was going to be okay, only to be met by a pair of officers who each wore a grim expression as they spoke. Her once bright, enduring smile faded, her heart pounded as if it were about to burst from her chest, and the color drained from her already light skin. That was the moment that changed her- no, replaced her. Unfinished-chan would never truly be the same person ever again, her old self had died with her mother.
In the face of her mother's murder, as well as her own subsequent "rebirth," there was still a silver lining to the whole endeavor. Shortly after Theodore gained knowledge of his so-called "beloved's" fate, he arranged for a meeting to take place between him and his daughter, whom of which was quite reluctant to respond. However, in the end, she didn't have a say in the matter. Despite his past offenses, no matter how heinous, he was still her father, and she was still his obedient, well-mannered daughter. She was just thankful that he stopped beating her around the age of fifteen, at that point he apparently felt she was "too old to discipline in such a manner," but Unfinished-chan had aways just assumed he got bored after she'd gotten so used to it that she no longer wept. However, if that were truly the case then he wouldn't have continued to strike her as a punishment, although firm backhand still stings whether it makes you cry or not.
A week later Unfinished-chan found herself approaching a table where a man who had only a single good memory attached to him sat, that memory being when he took her to see an opera performance for her tenth birthday, an activity that she continued to indulge in. The person she both despised and respected, whom she spent years trying to impress to no avail, Theodore Caesarius, her father. As she took her seat Unfinished-chan began to feel as though something wasn't right. There was a lack of hostility in the air, no look of disdain in his eyes, and hands weren't clenched into fists as they rested upon the table. His calm stature was quite off-putting to her, but what made her worry even more was when she'd noticed that he was examining her just as much as she was doing the same to him. Unfinished-chan prepared for the worse as his lips parted, but was instead met with something she never would've expected, "I sense that the weakling you once were has perished and that you have been born anew. Come here child, I wish to see my daughter." He spoke with a booming voice echoed throughout the room, waiting as Unfinished-chan made her way over to her father, who then continued to speak, "You are no Sith, and will forever be weaker because of it, but I will sculpt you into a vessel of all but equal worth...even if it breaks you."
It was at this point of writing my character's biography that I realized how long-winded this whole thing became, so instead of continuing this pretentious nightmare I began to work on a summarized version of her backstory.
(Interesting observation: You can see instances where I left the placeholder name "Unfinished-chan" in some of the later paragraphs. I'd stopped working on this version while in the middle of editing in the name I'd finally decided to give her, "Terrian." Although, as of writing this, I think I may change it as I develop her further. The name may not fit as well once I flesh out her personality a bit more.)
The "summarized version" should be found below, however, I'll keep the unfinished, "comprehensive" version around as a reference.
