State of the Legion
It has been six years since [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/kyuss-thaun.68068/]Emperor Kyuss Thaun[/surl] created the Imperial Legion, transforming the ragtag group of fighters that called themselves the Sacred Band of Ziost into an ordered and excellent military force. Soon the legion grew hundred times the size of the Sacred Band and opened up academies and training facilities on all Imperial worlds, supplying the Imperial war effort with a seeming endless stream of willing soldiers. For five years they had prepared..
-and lost the first two battles of the new war. They had [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/surrender-of-ithor.75426/#post-1374413]surrendered on Ithor[/surl] and deserted on their way to Bandomeer, leaving the remaining invasion force outnumbered and in an unwinnable battle. The Mandalorians laughed and tell stories of the cowardice of the Imperial Legion, while the Jedi Knights built prisons to hold the thousands that surrendered to them. It was a disgrace, resulting in the dismissal of [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/caduceus-rhade.72856/]Supreme Commander Caduceus Rhade[/surl] by the Emperor. With all seats in the military [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/sith-empire-ranks-and-organization.64238/#anchor_7]'Council of Five'[/surl] vacant, there was no natural successor to [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/sith-empire-ranks-and-organization.64238/#anchor_6]the highest rank in the Legion[/surl].
Always eager to empower themselves, several members of the [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/sith-empire-ranks-and-organization.64238/#post-1355022]Moff Council[/surl] tried to profit from this situation and attained military assets to claim them as their own. The former Grand Moff of the Core Worlds, the late [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/solomon-lok.73641/]Solomon Lok[/surl], managed to attain himself the title of general and [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-battle-of-ithor-a-blow-for-justice.75014/]personally defended Ithor[/surl]. His lack of military experience cost him his life, and the Empire an entire legion in an embarrassing defeat. Since then the Moffs have been reigned in, resulting in their military influence being completely stripped away and their function being limited to purely diplomatic efforts. Ofcourse, this wasn't the case for Legion Officers that were assigned to the position of Moff as their military expertise was proven and dependable.
But where the Empire's ground forces have been sorely lacking, so has its Navy grown in power and importance. Reports indicate that both [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/emperor-malon.71254/]Emperor Malon[/surl]'s personal [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/malons-warchest.71335/#post-1339906]Wraith Squadron[/surl] and [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/anya-sevchenko.74354/]Admiral Sevchenko[/surl]'s [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/inferno-squad-sign-ups-information.74522/]Inferno Squadron[/surl] are unopposed by other factions in their sheer might and numbers. All hope rests on Inferno Squadron and the attached 101st Division of [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/alexei-petrov.74184/]General Alexei Petrov[/surl] to change the tide of the war and allow the Imperial citizens to rest easy under the protection of the Legion.
