Crusader%20Class.jpg

Affiliation: N/A
Ownership: Kade Darkstalker
Intent: The ship is designed to be a personal prototype for Kade Darkstalker, as a way to get around and if need be provide heavier fire power for the factions he works with. It also serves the function as his mobile home, being that he doesn't seek to live in a single place and be locked to it. Given time he may release the new design and take on this old ship to a production company.
Model: Crusader VI Class Heavy Gunship
Name: Jade Shadow II
Dimensions: 90m x22m x18m
Class: Heavy Gunship
Crew:

Minimum: 1x Pilot

Optimal: 1x Pilot, 1x Co-pilot/Gunner, 2 Gunners
Complement: None
Armament:

2x XM-101 Plasma Cannons:

The heaviest energy weapon mounted to the vessel, these prototype Plasma weapons are a modification of the standard Plasma-tech found throughout the galaxy. These weapons fire a burst of superheated bolts of plasma at two second intervals making the weapons relatively ineffective against smaller, more nimble craft. The rate of fire is due to both charge time and cooling time between each shot, the barrel of the weapons being pushed back into a cryogenic cooling sleeve to cool the barrels. Shields tend to pose a problem against these heavy guns however armoured targets will get slagged. The Plasma weapons also sport a secondary fire mode where the plasma bolts are supercharged with Ions giving each blast the punch needed to disable shields and electrical systems. This however increases the charge time between each shot from two seconds to eight seconds. However being charged with Ions significantly reduces the armour penetrative capabilities of each blast. The guns finally have a 100 degree turning arc allowing them to fire on either higher or lower targets within a limited range of the ship.

3x V-24 Triplex Repeating Blaster Cannons:

Mounted in a turret beneath the cockpit these twin fire-linked triple barreled repeating Blaster cannons have a high rate of fire to take on starfighters and other small craft, they are equipped with rapid tracking targeting systems designed specifically for fast fighters. These guns are mounted in pairs located under the Cockpit as well as ventrally and dorsally on the vessel. Shields are relatively effective against these weapons however under a constant barrage from them they will eventually collapse. These guns are quite capable of providing covering or suppressive fire on ground based targets with precision deliverance if the targets are painted for targeting.

XL-22 'Warden' Point Defence System:

The Warden is a focused point defence laser system mounted as ball emitters designed to take down missiles, torpedoes and mines from range. The range from the laser emitters isn't all that impressive however due to their focused nature they are quite capable of taking down missiles and torpedoes launched from fighters with a single shot, whereas larger ordinance may take a couple of shots to disable or destroy. The Warden has pinpoint accuracy when engaged though has a very low rate of fire in comparison to similar systems seen mounted to Shrike Heavy Strike Fighters, the trade-off is that they don't suffer the accuracy decrease in long standing engagements and sport a longer range. The largest problem sported by the Warden system is that it has overheating issues when forced to operate for extended periods of time without a chance to cool off from each cycle. Once an emitter has hit its peak heat it will shut down temporarily to dissipate excess heat. The system is still experimental and custom built however and may be prone to flaws and errors.

Finally she features three unused hard points, two fore and one aft for torpedo or missile based weapons. None however are installed.

Equipment:

  • Dynamic Shield Array – S-26 Preserver DSA

The Dynamic shield array follows a similar system encountered by Kade during his time in the military. It features a hull conformative shield system comprised of multiple smaller generators scattered around the hull, rather than sporting a single large generator. Each emitter generates a shield grid which interlocks in with other grids to create a fully functional shield array, The shield as a whole is able to generate both Particle shield or Ray shields but not both at the same time, a fifteen second charge time when the shield is switched between the two modes. A secondary shield emitter sits next to the primary emitter so when the primary goes down the secondary one kicks in with a much weaker shield so the primary one can cool down and recharge. It is capable of redistributing energy from undamaged shield grids to damaged ones allowing it to withstand significant damage. The shield system requires considerable management to keep it functional and is maintenance heavy, dedicated AI and computer to operate and maintain as it is difficult to maintain in combat.

  • 6 x Escape Pods
These are mounted around the ship, one behind the cockpit, three mounted along the main hull and one in engineering.
  • MX-3 Quantum Compute
This computer is designed and used exclusively to maintain the Preserver Shield array during combat situations. It is protected heavily with Pyrowalls, quantum based encryption to keep any would be cyber-attacks out and prevent people from cracking the system.
  • Class 4 Droid Brain
The class four droid brain is used to maintain the rest of the ship's systems, acting as the effective AI controller that maintains the electronics, computers and internal devices of the ship. Capable to a degree of self learning with 'shackles' attached to it in the unlikely situation that it gets the idea to take control completely of the ship.
  • CEC Navi-Computer
  • Advanced Targeting Computer With Auto-targeting feature.
  • Electronic Counter Measures
  • Electronic Counter-Counter Measures
  • Infirmary fitted with Bacta Tank, 2-1B Medical droid and medical suit capable of treating four humanoids up to the size of Damarian Kushari or similarly large aliens. (Shistavanen, wookiees ect). For use in extreme emergencies the Infirmary is fitted with a Stasis Chamber and monitoring equipment.
  • Mechanics and Armoury Workshop
  • Refurbished Anq-51 Sensor Array and Computer system.
  • Repair and Maintenance Droids
These droids are purely repair and maintenance droids, astromechs, WED Treadwells and similar droids that have been taken and refurbished or rebuilt after being bought for cheap and given a new lease on life. Some have personality quirks from having never been memory wiped whilst others have had to have been put back to a clean slate due to the damage done to them or corrupted programming. (Kade has a thing for allowing Droids to keep their personalities. He thinks they perform their functions much better.)
Speed: Atmospheric Speed: 950 km/h

MGLT: 70
Hyperdrive Rating: 2 with a Backup Class 12

Manoeuvrability:
With its oversized engines the Jade Shadow is able to reach phenomenal speeds for its size and class, its manoeuvrability however suffers at the extreme speeds it can reach, at combat speed however it is able to turn very well, its powerful engines giving it a significant advantage in manoeuvres. The Preserver shield array being able to reshape itself slightly grants the ship a slight more aerodynamic feel when going through atmospheres, though not by much. In atmosphere she turns more like a brick than anything graceful, unless you think a whale attempting to do Ballet is graceful.

Description:
The Jade Shadow II is a marvel of technology where the super old is reused and built into the new, the hull was salvaged from an old battle wreckage and cleaned out, gutted and for the most part stripped bare. Where the superstructure and frame of the ship was laid bare it got studied, examined and then where needed sections replaced. The ship itself was rebuilt at an old shipyard at a station he inhabited for awhile, an abandoned outpost that held much of what he needed. Parts were salvaged from wrecks and scrapyards, bought through contracts though for the most part it was funded through the sale of a Stolen Ship (A Tartan Class Patrol Cruiser featured here). She was fitted with oversized engines of similar design and make to the original Crusader Class though with significant upgrades, including black market purchases and custom modifications.

She was fitted with an oversized Fusion reactor to provide the power requirements and then some for the ships vast array of equipment. It is noted that for an inexperienced pilot the ship would prove difficult to fly if they are not careful about the raw power of the engines as they can quickly sneak up on you. Her cargo bay is easily modifiable to fit a number of roles as needed, with a respectable 900 Tonnes cargo capacity and a large cargo bay to hold it all, it is certainly capable to perform well. Built into the cargo hold at the moment is a small vehicle bay, currently holding a rebuilt BARC Speeder and a Commonwealth PUMA, along with a small variety of salvaged tools specific to the Puma so it may fulfil a variety of roles. The ship as standard carries Six months of provisions on board though you can increase that significantly if you use the primary cargo space. Additionally the cargo hold features a variety of power sockets, couplings and the like that are not in use, enabling it to be used with little active modification, with the right equipment brought in.

It is sadly a prototype and as such prone to having random glitches pop up, random failures can occur however these tend to be very quickly fixed.

Plasma weapons will have to go, unfortunately. Jiang doesn't want any new Kushari/Makura-based creations made.
How many point-defense lasers are there?

It is capable of redistributing energy from undamaged shield grids to damaged ones allowing it to withstand significant damage.[/url]
What does this mean? If a section of emitters go down, does that mean instead of the entire shield failing across the ship, just the prow is unshielded or something, or do the other emitters just cover a wider area, but with a weaker effect?

Swear I changed that before I posted it. Edited the plasma weapons!

As for the shield array, think of it as a slightly overlapping grid system. When one side of the sip starts taking fire and is getting quite a pounding, the computer compensates for it by diverting additional power from the side that is not being assaulted to the side that is to help reinforce it. The side that the power is drawn from is weaker, but not unshielded.
