Working for the Syndicate definitely had its perks. There was a lot of information that floated up and down the grapevine that most people would never get their hands on. Sure, a lot of it was bogus or useless or otherwise unimportant, but every once in awhile you hit a vein of gold and the grapevine changed from a criminal's game of telephone into a potential money printing machine.

Or at least, that was the intention with the current nugget of information Kholvar had plucked for himself. Word on the street was some group of dipshits calling themselves the Red Crescent were operating out of Kadavo. poaching slaves from Syndicate markets and trying to peddle them on their own. From the sounds of it the little group was doing alright for themselves. Ironic that success is what caught attention - had they simply been small time failures barely scraping by, it was likely they wouldn't be all ending up dead.

Kholvar had the intention of taking over their entire operation by whatever means necessary. To reach that end, the aspiring slaver brought with him several friends: but made a point to involve other Syndicate members as little as possible. Luckily, his contacts within the SE were more than willing to aid him in this endeavor. Truth be told, he didn't really trust them either, but at least the odds of a couple of cultists stabbing him in the back for a business venture seemed quite remote.

As the ship descended through the somewhat turbulent atmosphere of Kadavo, Kholvar left the final wayfaring to his astromech and went to speak with his compatriots before they landed. Grabbing his blaster, the massive Trianii tucked it away. It was the only tool he'd need to rid their destination of the scum that currently infested it.

"These morons will likely fight tooth and nail to keep us away from their cash cow," Kholvar said idly, meeting up with Ender and Ana as the ship landed and the landing ramp descended. "I've no interest in peace talks or negotiations. If they don't surrender immediately, kill them. Don't harm the slaves, you'd essentially be burning credits if you do."

Given that their ship was clearly not marked with Red Crescent insignias, the small arms blaster fire started towards their position almost the moment Kholvar began to make his way down the ramp. "Oh, and if you see one you like, do let me know. I'll give you a discount." Pulling out his blaster, Kholvar started to return fire, making his way out of the ship, his eyes scanning around for somewhere to take cover.

This was where the fun begins.

Ana sat quietly in the ship throughout its travels, not really conversing with the massive feline to whom it belonged on her own volition. She agreed to do this out of good will and a desire to increase her network of connections, and her training under Talak necessitated that she branch out a little to see the worst the galaxy had to offer. She wasn’t rude by any means, and she spoke to him when he wanted the conversation, otherwise she kept to herself in isolation in order to focus on the dark side corruption within her. Today’s foray involved taking down and taking over a band of slavers who had gotten quite a name for themselves thanks to their success. Kholvar, her companion, wanted their operation for himself, and the cultists within the Sith Eternal were willing to facilitate this endeavor. It never hurt to have someone indebted to you, and slaves were a valuable commodity in the galaxy.

She felt the ship rock from turbulence as they entered the atmosphere, rousing her from her meditations. She gathered her belongings, ensuring this Kholvar never caught sight of her lightsaber, nor had any inclination that she was, in fact, a Force user. Instead, she presented herself as an avid, yet unusual, fan of forbidden lore, the occult, specifically in the Sith of old, and mercenary work to make some extra credits. She didn’t wear any conspicuous black cloaks, preferring instead slim-fitting, lighter-toned leather and cotton adventurer’s outfits. She looked every bit the normal, unassuming human.

Her vibroblade swayed gently with her hips as she walked out to meet with Kholvar, and the blaster felt awkward in its holster. She didn’t expect to actually use the thing, but it kept up appearances. Her vibroknife sat in its sheath on her thigh opposite the sword, just in case. She might look under-armored – in fact, she had no armor save for the pieces that guarded her modesty – but the Force would provide her with the tools she needed to survive.

”I wouldn’t dream of harming the merchandise,” she cooed, smiling wryly, ”Though I’ll be sure to keep an eye on any of them that catch my fancy.” The sounds of small arms fire impacting the ship were evident as they landed, and Kholvar rushed off right away, drawing most of the blaster fire. It was hard to miss something so massive. While he did so, Ana trailed behind him, keeping her weapons holstered for now.

There were a great deal of slavers firing at them from all manners of positions. High, low, in cover, in the open – it was a veritable shooting gallery. Luckily, the area they landed was replete with shipping containers and other pieces of cover and concealment, so it went both ways. With the Force pooling at her feet, she leapt and dove behind a piece of cover some ways away with some minor assistance, rolling behind it as shots whizzed past her. ”I didn’t expect such a warm welcome!” she shouted over the din of battle at Kholvar. This was technically her first engagement where people were firing at her, so it was hard to not be both excited and terrified.

Cover had been easy enough to find. Spotting a stack of durasteel crates that was able to hide even his own considerable bulk, Kholvar made a dead sprint towards it so he got better get his bearings.

The heat had come essentially the moment they touched down, which was to be expected. *It looked like there were about ten slavers, mostly Zygerrian and Quarren. It was hard to say how many more were inside. Oh well, it wasn't putting in a hard day's work in Kholvar's book unless you ended the day soaked in blood.

Peaking out from cover, Kholvar popped off two shots at the closest slavers to him. The bolts found their mark, hitting two Zygerrian's square in the chest, stopping them dead in their tracks. *Unfortunately, one of the other slavers was able to hone in on a shot with rifle and hit Kholvar's DL-44 before he was able to get his weapon back behind cover. The shot sent his weapon flying and totally slagged.

With his only ranged weapon now a molten mess of useless nonsense, Kholvar pulled out his vibroknife and cracked his neck. Guess he was going to have to do this the hard way.

Ana kept her head ducked low as she crouched behind her cover. Bolts whistled by overhead or slammed into the one thing keeping her from being killed while she devised a plan. She couldn’t allow this Kholvar to see her openly use the Force, nor could she use her lightsaber, even if both would have made this encounter a walk in the park. No, instead she had to resort to brutality that was up close and personal, and she hated what that entailed. As she sat there in cover listening to the battle, she focused inward, yanking that dark beast out from its hiding spot.

Hate and anger boiled to the surface of her psyche, and within moments, she was back to that cold, callous individual from Kashyyyk and Tatooine. She furrowed her brow and hesitated, listening to the rhythmic drumming of bolt-on-durasteel, waiting for the perfect moment. When there was but a moment of pause in the fire, she sprang into action and vaulted over her cover, vibrosword humming in her hand.

What Kholvar would see is a 5’0 woman charging directly into the line of fire with impressive – though not wholly preternatural – speed. She stepped deftly to the side as a bolt came streaking towards her, kicked off one of the crates, and jumped up on a large shipping container with a slaver atop it. As she closed with one of her opponents, she rammed the vibrosword past his sternum and buried it deep inside him. He gasped, coughed up blood, and collapsed backwards as she pushed him down and pulled her blade out.

His buddy beside him, having recovered from the shock of how quickly his friend had died, *raised his blaster rifle at Ana, and fired. She could barely react in time to the bolt and twisted her body such that it would hit her in the shoulder. The bolt seared into her skin and spun her around, forcing her to take several steps backwards. Shipping containers weren’t very spacious, and her fumbling steps after being shot sent her over the edge of the box.

Ana crashed to the ground between two such containers, dropping her vibrosword a few feet away and landing hard. She groaned and looked at the wound in her shoulder, feeling the warmth of blood seeping from it. Great. At least she was out of sight for the moment.
