Mandalorian Tournament

As promised, we are here with another announcement concerning the upcoming Hutt Cartel-sponsored tournament, which will begin tomorrow morning, November 16. Please understand that the following announcement is very content heavy. READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY.

Contestants & Matchups
First and foremost, the following eight entrants have been randomly selected as official participants in the tournament:

Congratulations warriors! We have also selected the initial matches at random. The first round can be seen on the tournament bracket below:

This tournament will be held in three stages:

Stage 1 – Trial of Teams:
  • The first stage will consist of two teams of two fighting each other. Mandalorians need to learn how to work together if they expect to be on the front lines with each other. In this, two 2v2s will occur with a two-week time limit. Loadouts and matchups will be randomized. Emphasis is to see who leans heavily on teammates, who is a liability in a fight, and who works well together. Those left standing will advance to the next round. If more than two people are left standing, the War Council will decide who fought the hardest and reward them with advancement to the next round.

For this fight, the people matched up with each other will be on a team against the other two people. For example, Tanx and Sumas will fight Dax and Crystal.
Stage 2 – Trial of Skill:
  • The second stage will consist of two one-on-one fights. Mandalorians need to learn how to hold their own in single combat as well as they can in team combat. A Mandalorian who can’t defend themselves is useless in the crusade. In this, two 1v1s will occur with a one-week time limit with the potential to extend it if necessary. Loadouts will be randomized. Matchups will pit fighters against winners from the other fight from the first round in order to avoid teammates dueling one-another. Again, if a fighter is not rendered incapable of fighting, the War Council will decide who won the duel.
Stage 3 – The Battle Circle:
  • The battle circle is an ancient and honored tradition of skill between fighters. The final two warriors who make it to this round will be tested on their skill in combat in adherence with the Old Ways. Warriors will be given a generic suit of beskar’gam of their choosing (light/medium/heavy) as well as a single beskad. This fight will have a one-week time limit and will be fought until one fighter can no longer fight back. If, at the end, there are no losers, the War Council will decide who won the tournament.

Arenas
As previously stated, the tournament will include random arenas selected across Mandalorian space. The following are those arenas and their specifications:

Aquaris – Water: Situated on the water planet Aquaris in the Expansion Region, this arena consists of several floating square platforms surrounded entirely by water. Each platform varies in size and can be anywhere from 5 meters by 5 meters to 15 meters by 15 meters. Some are rectangular, but all are generally square in shape. Each platform is connected by a bridge of approximately two meters across, but the bridges are unstable and slippery, just like the rest of the platforms. Gentle waves make it difficult to maintain proper balance on each platform. Falling in the water doesn’t forfeit the fight, but it can be difficult to recover once your opponent has that advantage over you.
Umbara – Dark Forest: Situated in the fabled forests on the Expansion Region world of Umbara, this perilous arena is unique for its perpetual near-darkness. Thick trees are scattered about the arena, with dangerous roots lining the ground and making it hazardous to run around blindly. Thick underbrush conceals some of these roots, but there is a relatively clear area in the center of the arena. The tradeoff for fighting in the center, though, is that it’s far, far darker and thus harder to see. The edges of the arena have mysterious fungal growths that emit a small radius of light – enough to generally have pretty good vision of the immediate area for a few meters, but the root undergrowth is far denser here.
Dxun – Jungle: A threatening arena on the Inner Rim jungle moon of Dxun filled with tall trees, thick underbrush, and ropy hanging vines. There are a few meters in between each tree, and vines hang from the thick foliage throughout the entirety of the arena. The arena is dimly lit, and the sounds of apex predators can be heard in the distance. Cutting the arena in half diagonally from one corner to another is a rushing river seven meters wide. In the middle of the river is a narrow rope bridge, and halfway between that and the arena corners of the river are flat boulders of various sizes dotting across the surface, close enough together to use as a hopping bridge. Vines hang over the river. Halfway between the river and the dry corners of the arena are clusters of tree platforms.
Ambria – Sand: An arena on the Inner Rim planet Ambria filled with sandy dunes. The loose sand ripples and rises into dunes several feet tall, scattered throughout. In the center of the arena is a ruin like structure made of square stone blocks. It does not however resemble a building, but rather a large and tall platform with handholds along its length and height. The platform seems to be built randomly, with squares missing from the base and the top, creating a geometric, inconsistent battleground. Similar structures are placed near the four corners of the arena, but are narrower and taller, resembling unstable towers. It’s difficult to have solid footing as one climbs the dunes, so be careful not to trip or sink too deep!
Nar Shaddaa – Urban: An urban arena on the Outer Rim world of Nar Shaddaa, the floor and outer walls of this arena is covered in a crackling stun field, which will instantly knock anyone who touches it unconscious. Floating above the stun field are repulsorlift platforms. Once the warriors are on the platforms, the field engages, turning these platforms into the only safe place. There are three layers to these platforms with a single large 8m x 8m platform in the center of each level. On the sides of these center platforms are smaller 3m x 3m platforms that move up, down, and laterally between levels. There are four such moving platforms in total, all starting at different points and levels and moving throughout the arena the entire fight. The only way to reach a level above or below is to hop on one of these platforms and ride it up, down, or across the level. At the lowest level, the center platform is 1m above the stun field. At the highest level, the center platform is 3m from the stun field. Each edge of the center platforms is 5m from the stun fields on the sides. On each platform, center or moving, is a random geometric piece of cover, generally boxy in nature, that varies in size. It can be anywhere from a few-centimeters-high tripping hazard to a meter-more-more piece of cover and concealment.
Contruum 6 – Snow/Ice: A ice-and-snow covered arena on the harsh Outer Rim world of Contruum. Snow falls quickly from the sky during the perpetual blizzard, the powdery stuff building up into snowbanks. In the center of the arena is a small hill, underneath which lays a small cave. A large icy pillar stands in the center of the cave from top to bottom, around which several small ice pillars are scattered. Icy stalagmites and stalactites are also scattered inside the cave. Packed snow trenches run in between snowbanks, winding through most of the arena. Around the edge of the arena is a layer of ice covering freezing water, the ice only an inch or two thick. Be warned, though: exposure to the biting winds outside the cave can impair a Mandalorian’s fighting ability. The wind speed is high, the snow is blinding, and the temperatures are frigid.

Load-outs
Weapon and armor loadouts will also be selected (along with the arena) at random at the beginning of each match. This means that, if you are fighting, you will not be using your character's personal weapons and armor.

Tournament Rules
The tournament's rules are really very simple:

1. Killing is NOT allowed. This tournament is death-disabled. Maiming or serious injury can occur, however, and death may be an option if you feel that this is pertinent to your character’s story.
2. To defeat your opponent, you must render them incapable of fighting. The first person to be rendered incapable of fighting will be declared the loser and the winner will advance to the next round. If nobody is in such a state by the end of the fight, it will go to a judge's decision. The War Council and I are the judges.
3. There is a 48-hour posting limit. If you miss this limit and fail to apply for an extension, you will be skipped. I'm aware that this makes rounds 2 and 3 a time crunch. Learn to respond quickly in PvPs now and it'll make things easier in the future for you. Introductory posts must be made within 48 hours of the OP. Work out the time blocks with your opposition afterwards if it's split.
4. No toxic OOCs. This is a low stakes, faction wide event meant to bond us as warriors and test out our skill in combat. If you can't conduct yourself properly in the OOC, I don't care how well you do IC. The War Council and I will be scrutinizing both IC and OOC threads very heavily for civil discourse. Follow the new PvP meta and quit worrying over minutiae. Make PvP fun again.

Other Activities
As mentioned in the previous announcement, this is a faction wide event; that means that, even if you're not fighting, you are all welcome to do threads related to the Mandalorian tournament. These threads must be Open, but will be death-disabled, and can include gambling (i.e., betting on the matches), spectating, bar scenes in and around the event, etc. Yes, you can have your bar fights, scuffles, and whatever (no bombs, please), but the entire event will be death-disabled unless a player gives their consent for their character to die.

Event Rewards
The winner of the tournament will be given a piece of AT of their choosing, a unique title for their character, and a unique medal for their character. Get hyped!

Those who fight in the threads can use their fights to apply for Mandalorian mission rewards and Jaig eyes.

Those who take part in the event, whether you are a fighter or someone in an Open thread, will be able to submit their completed threads to me after the event is over and, upon review, will be able to receive a 10 credit bonus for participation. You can make as many socials as you want, but there will be no double-dipping participation rewards!

Everyone congratulate our chosen fighters and may the best Mandalorian win!
