The dueling rooms in the temple were mostly empty due to the non-lethal nature and the failed connection that this kind of duel has with a being that revels in the Dark Side of the Force. Nevertheless Valdir had grown weary of fighting his fellow acolytes and because he perceived himself worthy of a promotion he had challenged a Crusader rank Sith. Normally not a clever thing, but as the Crusader herself had no authority to promote him the informality of it all allowed Valdir to take the safe route of a non-lethal match.
After all, he wasn’t going to die here on Ziost before he even had the chance of training under his new master or doing honor to his tribe by becoming a fully fledged Sith. Needless to say: He was excited for this measure of skill and eagerly awaited his opponent.
