An artist rendition of a Mustafarian phoenix carrying a phoenix egg

Thread Prefix: Fanon

Name: Mustafarian Phoenix

Biology: The Mustafarian Phoenix (or sometimes called a Mustafarian Firebird or Lavabird) are a very rare avian species of birds that is mostly distinguished by their ability to not only survive the extremely hot volcanic world of Mustafar, but also thrive in it.

They are covered in feathers. Their feather color spectrum ranges from yellows, oranges, to red and very rarely purple. The feathers glow in dark areas. They have black eyes. On their heads they have a crown of large feathers, which varies from phoenix to phoenix. They are also tend to be very large for most bird species. A baby phoenix has a wingspan of 160–183 cm, a length of 62–81 cm, while an full grown adult phoenix can be about the size of the average rancor.

The Musfarian phoenix are a a relativity long lived species compared to most wildlife in the galaxy, with them being able about 75 years of age, although they spend a lot of time hibernating in their lifetimes, with grown phoenix's only venturing outside their nests only to defend their territory or to hunt.

Breeding: A female phoenix breeds asexually by laying eggs, one at a time. They make their nests across Mustafar in either dark caves or high vantage points on the planet's surface. Reproduction is a rare for them.

Strengths: Relatively long lifespan, sharp talons and beak, Flight, Heat resistance

Weaknesses: The Mustafarian Phoenix is unable to survive in extremely low temperature environments like the planet Hoth, due to it's dependence on high temperatures of heat. Rain and water is also harmful to a phoenix. Prolonged exposure to rain can cause illness and if not taken care of and could cause death at it's worse stage. While contact with large amounts of water ranges from painful to lethal, to say nothing about drowning.

Diet: Carnivorous. Mustafar has no flora to speak of. Their normal diet includes the local Mustafarian locals as well as other local fauna such as Roggwart and Lava Fleas. A mother phoenix hunts while her young are at their nests They can go a long time without food and do not need to feed often.

Behavior/Temperament: While baby phoenix's are usually playful and docile. As a Mutafarian phoenix ages to an adolescent, it gets more aggressive and brings to grow it's predatory instincts. Full fledged adult phoenixes are very hostile and predatory to other life as well as territorial and protective. An adult phoenix can not be tamed, but it can be calmed down with an empathetic force connection. Baby phoenix's are able to be domesticated, but it's wise that a phoenix returns to Mustafar by it's adolescent years.

Communication: The phoenix communicates by chirping, singing, and screeching.

History: In the galaxy, the phoenix is regarded as legendary creatures with very rare sightings and is heavily associated as a symbol of rebirth and longevity. The phoenix is a symbol of many groups in the galaxy, big or small. The Mustafarian people regard them with awe and have many superstitions regarding them. They are considered game by the Mustafarians for their meat, but it is heavily regulated. They are very protective with the phoenixes against off-worlders. However in recent years there are a few amount of poachers who are willing to travel to Mustafar, brave it's harsh environment to kill a phoenix, and then sell it's glowing feathers and talons on the black market for a very high price, or keep them as a trophy.

Planet: Mustafar

Intent: To give Mustafar (a planet with really nothing of roleplaying value) at least some value and some life to it. Roleplays around this bird can revolve around poaching one and selling it's feathers and/or talons on the black market at very lucrative price (as well as all the consequences that come with all those actions), as well as preventing poaching and protecting these rare species. Babies can be obtained as pets. Force bonding with an adult could be considered a feat of strength. With how harsh the planet is it can add to the possibilities above, the local Mustafarian are revere them so they would be another potential obstacle standing betwee an enterprising player and a phoenix. Also to become a symbol of a rebellion late in the future.

Hi @Faster Than Light

First of all, great job on the write-up!

I would like to offer a few suggestions: 1) Please change the formatting so that all of the content is not cramped on the left side of the screen. It looks a bit awkward. 2) I would suggested nixing their ability to radiate heat. It doesn't make a whole lot of biological sense that a bird living on a molten world would want to raise its heat more. That would almost certainly kill it and make egg-laying/hatching nearly impossible.

Other than that, looks pretty good! Let me know if you have questions. When you've made edits, tag me, and I'll get this through approval.

@Malon
Cheers man. I nixed that ability and every reference to it. And if this formatting still doesn't work, I can try fixing it again.
