Nar Shaddaa - Corellian District
0315 Local Time

b5c17117ccc99cdfd38413e2205f1d2f.jpg

Nar Shaddaa never ceased to amaze Orys, especially in times like this. He, Vara, and Jacelle had all arrived just outside of their first step towards finding Lucius Quinn. The dive bars barely functional neon sign stood over them like an angry father looking down at his child "Caspar's Lunar Grotto". The entire Corellian district reeked of refuse but this building in particular made him want to plug his nose. Maybe it was all the scumbags inside, maybe there were dead bodies hidden nearby, who knew? Entering the building he observed his surroundings carefully. He thought Nightfall was shady, this place was the perfect spot if you wanted to get shot over a poker game. The bar was more populated than Nightfall, with most of the booths being occupied and not a single spot available at the bar itself. In all honesty the place was a shithole. The floorboards were scratched beyond repair, the bar was made of some kind of metal and had dents the size of a wookies fist, and many of the booths that were once covered in leather were reduced to their foam insides. To top it all off the walls had everything from blood stains to blaster marks scattered from the entrance to what Orys could only assume was the kitchen door. Imagine eating in a place like this...

A big, brolic Devaronian barred him and his companions from completely entering the building by placing a large red hand on Orys's pauldron. Tapping his claws against the durasteel plating he looked at Orys through his helmet with a sinister smile. The devaronian was missing a horn as well as his left eye. Much of the left side of his face was scarred beyond recognition, almost as if he was dragged a great distance behind a speeder on concrete. "Nice armor, shorty. Bet I could still take ya. I don't recognize you or your...friends so i'm gonna need any weapons you might have on your person". Orys was clearly armed, two blasters at his side and a rifle hidden in his duffel bag which made lying pointless. He reached his right hand into his pocket, digging around for a few moments before eventually procuring 75 credits and offering them to the man. "There's 25 each to look the other way. We won't cause any problems i'm just looking for some information". The bouncer thought for a moment, this was probably close to what he made in a single night. Sure enough he released his grip on Orys and took the money before walking the other way.

Fully entering the bar Orys continued his observation looking for any peculiar people that stood out. Only two really seemed to stick out among the large crowd. A scrawny human male sitting at the bar had ordered what looked to be 5 or 6 beers but hadn't touched one. His eyes were glued to his datapad and he was likely only ordering so the bartender didn't kick him out for taking up a seat. The other was a lone rodian male sitting at a booth intended for 4 or more. He was dressed like your average scoundrel but what stood out was his eyes kept glancing between the emergency exit and entrance. Either he was waiting to meet someone, or he was expecting trouble. Judging by the name tag pinned to his chest that read "Caspar", he must be the owner.

"Where do you guys want to start?" he asked his companions.

Vara Dramm followed behind Orys as they made their way to the next dive bar. It was getting late, and she had started to wonder if anything would come from this evening. Morning. Whatever one would classify the twilight hour before sunrise. Having spent her whole life on Nar Shaddaa, she knew that the time of day hardly mattered to the underworld. Seedier establishments never truly closed, and this new cantina was no different.

The slicer listened to her associate and the bouncer talk, feeling on the inside of her jacket as they did so. Her blaster was still there. Hopefully it wouldn't have to be used tonight, but given the work that they had just accepted, it's best to keep it on hand. The mission had sunk in a bit more since they were at Nightfall. It was just one man's life. An old man, who betrayed the wrong people. It's a story that repeats itself across the galaxy a dozen times a second, but Vara still felt hesitant. When the time came to take the man's life, Vara wouldn't be surprised if Orys or Jaçelle took the shot.

Vara used the bottom of her heel to extinguish the deathstick she smoked to the filter before heading inside. She glanced up at the towering Devaronian and then shifted her eyes forward again. Another thing people learn quickly on the moon is to not ask about scars, and the bouncer had plenty of them.

"Alright then," Vara said to her associates upon entering the establishment. She noticed it had a distinctly more grimy and unkempt appearance, even for Nar Shaddaa, it likely hadn't seen a proper cleaning since the days of the Empire. The cantina was still fairly crowded, despite it being so late into the evening. There was probably a gang affiliation she wasn't aware of that justified that nature. Tables were filled with groups of drinkers and sabacc players. Most people were having a good time, but there seemed to be a couple individuals that stood out. She looked to Orys and noticed he was looking in the direction of the same two individuals. "I'm going to the bar, maybe I can find something out over there." She grinned to the two before making her way in that direction.

The bouncer was more than happy to be handed those credits. Jaçelle was all too familiar with bribes. For those who didn't make enough to support themselves--let alone a family--money was worth bending the rules.

As she ducked through the door, Jaçelle could feel eyes on her. She could see nearly everyone in here, too. They were lucky the bouncer let them in with their weapons; everyone here looked like they were on the edge of throwing hands.

"Let's talk to the Rodian over there," suggested Jaçelle to Orys. She was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of people in here. He looked pretty comfortable to her. Plus, the Rodian looked a bit jumpy and she was a bit intimidating.

With Vara already heading in the direction of the bar, Orys proceeded with Jacelle. Orys was not even remotely racist or a xenophobe, however he did have a distaste for Rodians from past experiences, especially his time in prison. Making their way to the booth Caspar occupied, he firmly clutched the blaster sitting on his right hip white knuckling the grip. He didn't want things to escalate but the three of them were unknowns to pretty much everyone in this particular bar and were likely to draw attention if they started asking questions. The rodian was rather gaunt in appearance, his blue skin being sunken in especially around the face. His feet were spread out beneath the table and onto the other side of the booth, obviously not accepting visitors as of now.

"Excuse us" he said, pushing the rodians feet off of the booth and sitting down. He sat at the edge of the booth preventing Jacelle from entering as a hint to stand beside the rodian and block people from spying. She was a big girl after all. "I'm not accepting visitors right now. Get the kark outta my booth". A lippy one, and perhaps high too. Spice residue stained his fingers and face amber and the rodian seemed to have no shame about it. "I don't think I will Caspar. I'd greatly appreciate it if you pipe it down. I just have some questions to ask and i'll be on my way". The rodian scoffed, procuring a blaster from his hip and placing it on the table for Orys and Jacelle to see. "Who the kark do you think you are? You cant just walk into my establishment and demand I speak with you". Orys returned the favor, having already had his own blaster in his hand. He prodded the rodian's upper thigh near his crotch with the barrel of the blaster.

"You're making this a lot harder than it needs to be. Just answer what we ask and do what I say". Caspar let out a long sigh looking between Orys and Jacelle both, waiting for the first question.

As she made her way over to the cantina bar, Vara didn't have high hopes on this individual. They behaved strange, but for all she knew the man could of just been a spicer going through withdrawals and waiting for a dealer to arrive. Regardless, Vara didn't have many leads at this point and it seemed that the other two were going in their own direction to find information. Hopefully everyone would be able to be discreet with this without any rabble rousing.

Vara sat down at a stool at the bar, flagging the bartender for the cheapest alcoholic drink on the menu. When Vara felt it was safe, she'd glance at the fidgety man's datapad, trying to get an idea what he was doing on it, and why he was so hesitant to leave the bar.

With a fresh drink in hand, Vara took a sip and slid out her own datapad from her messenger bag. She glanced at the message boards she'd previously posted in, inquiring about the ranger. No results yet. Vara glanced over at the man beside her once more, getting a better view that he was on a messenger program. Conveniently one that was infamously insecure in the Slicer community.

The slicer set her drink down, and glanced back to her two companions she entered with, seeing they had taken an interest in the Rodian. Things seemed quiet still and she turned her attention back to her datapad, resting her head on her palm as she idly perused the cantina's holonet access. It was the typical low level security, but it'd still take a few minutes before she got any info out of it. In the mean time, she glanced up at the holonet broadcast. Of course it was broadcasting huttball. At least it would kill a couple minutes while she waited for her program to finish penetrating the building's holonet node.

Jaçelle got the memo and stood standing next to Orys and the Rodian with her hip cocked to the side and her arms resting on her hips. Curious eyes would have to make too much of an effort to look past her figure, so their conversation was shielded from the rest of the bar.

"We're looking for a former sector ranger," stated Jaçelle as she made eye contact with the alien.

The woman slipped her thumb onto her pistol as she questioned the Rodian. She was counting on the alien being intimidated by her size and Orys and hers weapons. In all honesty, Jaçelle was much more used to Zentripoli doing the talking in situations like these. He could talk anyone into anything; she was the bodyguard there to discourage violence against him.

"We've heard he's frequented this bar before," she continued, glancing at Orys. "Give us his name, if he comes here often, and where we might find him.." Jaçelle returned her gaze to the Rodian's and locked onto his eyes. "...or we can find out the hard way."

The rodian appeared much more intimidated by Jacelle than Orys, likely never seeing a woman as a large as herself. He began to fumble with his words and choke up as she spoke. As she threatened to get violent his silence was broken in the form of a faint but audible sob. "Please don't hurt me. I'm just a lonely scumbag trying to make a living like anyone else on this rock. I don't know nothing about no sector ranger I swear". At this point tears had begun to roll down the aliens face and onto the table. Orys had seen plenty of people beg for their life but not like this, I mean they hadn't even roughed him up yet. Orys used his free left hand to firmly pop the rodian on the side of his head, being careful to hide it while using Jacelle as a shield. "Stop whinging like a little girl. You conduct business on Nar Shaddaa for kark sake act like a damn man. You haven't seen anyone new around here? Perhaps someone that appeared recently? Anyone acting like a narc?"

The rodian gulped, taking a moment to think. "Well there is this one guy. Small guy, like me. Never saw him before a day in my life and I've been here for going on 6 years now. He just started coming in maybe 3 weeks ago? Looks real outta place when you compare him to the rest of these degenerates". He paused again, wiping his face dry with his shirt sleeve. "I'm not too good with faces so you'll have to forgive me if i'm vague. He's human, got brown hair that's graying, always wears shades, and reeks of cigarette smoke". Useful information but it still wasn't enough. "He ever mention where he might be staying? A name?" The rodian covered his face with his hands, shaking his head back and forth. "I dunno. I ain't talked to him too much just the occasional hello and goodbye. If i remember correctly I heard he and one of my bartenders talking and I overheard him say he was staying right around the corner. Guy was plastered, couldn't even walk straight. Had to make sure he wasn't gonna try to drive or something".

As the night progressed several of the occupied booths began to clear out. Many patrons left their garbage and refuse behind like animals with no decency. "Oh yeah yeah yeah. His name or at least what he said was his name, was Fitzgerald but to call him Fitz". There it was, the million dollar answer. Orys placed his blaster back in its holster at his hip, gently tapping on the table with his left hand as he did so. "You know Caspar you ain't so bad. Lets keep this between us though. If I find out you said a damn word.....I'm gonna let this lady here have her way with you, understood?" The rodian quickly nodded up and down holstering his own blaster. Getting up from the booth he adjusted himself, fixing his holster and utility belt. He spotted Vara messing with her datapad which likely meant she was doing some work of her own. He'd move to sit at another newly vacant table near the bar to observe without making it obvious they knew each other.

Vara was halfway through her drink by the time that her datapad's programming cracked the holonet node for the cantina. From here, it was a piece of cake. She accessed the loner's datapad through a 'readonly' process, so she did not have to worry about accidently editing anything or raising suspicion unless the man just happened to see her browsing his information.

After briefly skimming through the information on the man's messenger, she realized she was next to a paranoid man. But perhaps they had more reason to worry than they thought. The man beside her was definitely on the wrong side of the law. The reason why he seemed to be in the cantina is because he was spooked by some form of law enforcement. The Sector Ranger, Vara thought. The human man lived in a hotel a few blocks down and seemed to be afraid of the new tenant.

Another quick search revealed where exactly this hotel was. Based off the messages, this man lived in room 202. Sector Ranger seemed to be next door, so it was narrowed down to 201 or 203. She shrugged, hoping that her companions had found out additional information.

With this newfound information, Vara finished off her drink and tossed a couple credits on the counter as she stood up. She sent an encrypted message to her companions with the information that the Ranger's location was narrowed down. With her business concluded, she stood up and made her way towards the door, giving a very subtle nod to her conspirators indicating she had what she needed and for them to meet outside once their own business is concluded.

It appeared that her little attempt at intimidation was a rousing success! Jaçelle was very pleased with herself, but made sure not to display that to the world. Instead she listened as the Rodian spit out everything he knew, picking out words through his shaking voice. It seemed their man of interest was hardly special in appearance; a skinny build and graying brown hair wasn't much to go on, but they had his name. Jaçelle eyeballed Vara for a brief second. Maybe their slicer could work off what they'd gotten.

As Orys stood up, she straightened herself out and nodded to the Rodian, then moved to join Orys at the bar. Vara had stood up by then, so she followed her out the door.

"His name is Fitzgerald, and he's some scrawny aging human. Smokes. Drinks." Jaçelle stated this as soon as they were out of the bar. The woman looked down at Vara and raised a brow. "Did you find anything?" The question was inquisitive. Slicing was way out of her ability with technology, thus it intrigued her.

Orys had just received the ping on his datapad as Vara and Jacelle made their way to the door. He quickly skimmed over the message, allowing the women to exit the bar before him. Once outside he got up from his own seat and gathered his things, making his way towards them. "Good work guys. I hope you've still got some energy left in you. I really don't want to risk this guy getting wind of all this and skipping town so we're gonna have to head there tonight". He paused momentarily, removing a large smelly cigar from a case clipped to his waist. He removed his helmet, tucking it under his shoulder and began to wet the cap of the cigar with his mouth. "We'll discuss things further once we get to the hotel but I'm thinking Jacelle and I will take point while you, Vara cover our asses and make sure no brown noses get in our business".

He quickly plugged in the hotels name on his datapad, pulling up the closest directions. "Only a 10 minutes walk from here. Lets get moving". A silent buzz could be heard as Orys used his vibroblade to cut the cap of his cigar off. Lighting it with a lighter that was stashed on his person he began to head in the direction of the hotel, datapad in one hand, while puffing a cigar in his mouth.

The Crown Aegis Hotel eventually appeared in the distance, its large neon sign glaring at Orys from its durasteel chains. A nice looking place in a rough part of town, odd. Looking down at his datapad Orys noticed the time, 0400. Lucky for them a large sign beside the hotel said "Open 24/7". Waiting till dawn wasn't really an option at this point. As the trio neared the hotel they all got a better look at it and its surroundings. The hotel looked relatively new, strong foundation, freshly painted walls, newer signs, and even what looked like a pool in the back. Unfortunately this was also Nar Shaddaa and most people didn't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves. Trash littered the ground in front of the hotel and a couple of younger teens could be seen in a nearby alleyway tagging its exterior. Probably soon to be gangsters or just ruffians jealous of the five story building.

"Well we're here. I thought more about it on the walk and I think we're gonna stick with the original plan. Vara I don't know much about slicing and the like but if possible i'd appreciate if you could get eyes on the inside of the hotel. Maybe the hallway rooms 201, 202, and 203 are on? Jacelle you're with me. Seeing as we don't currently stay here I don't imagine whoever is at the desk is going to just let us in, especially at this time of night. We'll figure that out once we're inside though. Vara keep in touch via commlink if things get shady".

Orys spat his cigar out of his mouth, crushing it under his boot heel. There was still quite a bit left but based on the faces he was making while walking to the hotel it probably tasted like shit. Maybe it got too wet at some point? He entered the hotel carrying his duffel bag where his helmet was now stashed away. He momentarily paused at the door as he gripped its handle. There was blood speckled on it and relatively fresh too. It had started to coagulate but wasn't quite hard yet. He continued into the building, holding the door for Jacelle if she followed. He was raised with manners after all. The inside of the hotel was actually nicer than expected. Quasiwood hardwood floors, intact leather couches, potted plants, and even a granite counter top where the desk clerk sat.

The human lady behind the counter was older, probably in her early 60's. She had blonde hair and blue eyes hiding behind thick metal glasses. As Orys entered she glanced up at him from her book, holding something in her left hand though it was concealed by the counter. Considering the area it was probably a blaster, at least if she was smart that's what it was. "Can I help you? If you're looking for a room they start at 100 credits a night no exceptions". Straightforward. She definitely had a gun under there. "Tired of people trying to haggle huh?"

"Mostly the homeless, offering leftover food they gathered from my own dumpster. Degenerates. A younger me would have helped them out but when you get to be my age you realize we all have our place in this galaxy. The homeless serve as a reminder to work hard for what you want and not give handouts". Cold but fair. "Fair enough. You actually can help me. I'm looking for a friend of mine? Name is Fitzgerald, stays somewhere on the second floor". A smirk formed on the woman's face as she removed her glasses to look Orys in the face. "Your friend huh? He told you where the hotel was but not what room he was in? I can call him for you if you'd like, and we can find out if he's expecting two large and armed individuals".

Orys shook his head raising his hands so the woman could see them. "Oh that's not necessary. I'll step outside and call him so we can figure this out. Have a good night now". He began to turn around and make his way out the door he had just come through once again holding it for his companion. The lady behind the counter shouted to him, placing her blaster on the counter top. "We don't serve liars here mister. Come back and i'll put a hole in you". Now standing on the steps that lead into the hotel he looked to Jacelle, obviously frustrated. "Well onto plan b I suppose".

The walk to the hotel gave Vara a chance to finish the deathstick she had to snuff out earlier in the night. Her companions were the quiet type, and to be honest Vara enjoyed that. She wasn't much to indulge her personal information to people she was still warming up to anymore than she had to. She was honestly relieved to hear the plan. If the situation came to it, Vara wasn't afraid to use her blaster, but she assumed both of them were better shots and inherently had a much more intimidating presence.

"Be safe in there, buzz me if things get hot," Vara was certain that blasterfire or shouting would be enough of a signal, but she figured the sentiment was important. Vara nodded to the two before splitting off from the group, making her way to an alley at the side of the building. It'd give her the privacy she needed to get the work done.

Vara quickly noticed as she started to enter the alley that she wasn't alone. There was a small group of teenagers, probably some upstart or small swoop gang. She already had her datapad out by the time she realized they were there. One of the teenagers shouted out in Huttese, "Hey nice datapad you got there." Vara had spent enough time on Nar Shaddaa to know these types. Too young to commit to the life yet, probably just enjoying the thrill of loitering and the occasional theft.

Without saying a word, Vara adjusted her jacket, revealing the grip to her blaster that was normally concealed by the aforementioned jacket. The group murmured among each other then decided to walk away from the alley. They weren't looking for the kind of heat that Vara offered to escalate to.

With privacy again on her side, Vara found an old milk crate in the alley and sat down, beginning to browse through her datapad. Connecting to the hotel's camera systems was a piece of cake. It gave her an opportunity to see down the hallway of the second floor. It was desolate, as to be expected this time of night. She chirped into her commlink to the other two, "Second floor is all clear, least busy I've ever seen a place on this moon."

Jaçelle was surprised to see such a nice building amidst the dirt and squalor of Nar Shaddaa. It was the sort of place her family would have never been able to afford. Even now, Jaçelle would shy away from hotels like this. She felt...out of place. The blood stain on the door handle, though, was a reminder that this hotel was still in the slums. What had caused such a stain? Did a bloody hand grasp it or did it get splattered on?

The situation with the old lady went rather poorly. Orys had gone for the "old friend" approach. Jaçelle was sure she'd heard that a million times. And with her hidden hand, she wasn't surprised the lady was packing heat.

"And what's your plan B?" Jaçelle said this as she made her way out of the lady's sight, veering toward the alley where Vara was. She didn't enter though. Just as she said that, Vara's message came through. Jaçelle stopped with a thoughtful look on her face

"The second story's not too high up," she commented with a pointed look at Orys.

Orys looked upwards towards the top of the building as Vara and Jacelle mentioned the second floor. It wasn't that high, however he was wearing medium armor that weighed around 15 kilos not including his other gear. "Hmmmm. It is a possibility but I've never been an exceptionally good climber and the last thing we need is for one of us to fall. Even from that distance you'd likely be in a lot of pain and draw some attention". Suddenly a flood light kicked on from behind the hotel, illuminating a large dumpster that likely belonged to the woman inside. Orys moved to investigate, traversing around the building with a hand on his blaster. Once close enough he observed a middle aged man donning an employee uniform taking out the trash.

The employee had his back turned to Orys and Jacelle, furiously slinging overstuffed bags of garbage from a cart into the already crowded dumpster. While he wasn't one to be scared of conflict he didn't want to unnecessarily hurt someone who didn't do anything wrong. Unfortunately for the man, the door he came out of appeared to be locked and was only accessible via a key card he likely had on his person which made their options limited. Orys also noticed a small camera above the door that appeared to make slow sweeping motions of the backside of the hotel, spanning from the pool gate to where the man currently was.

Deep down he wanted to ask Vara to possibly hack into the camera to shut it off or freeze it looking away from the man, but being the impulsive and quick to act guy he was, he proceeded with his on the go plan. Patiently waiting for the camera to turn away from the man, he picked up a nearby brick and while crouching quickly accelerated forward towards the man. Once close enough he brought down the brick with force towards the back of the mans hair covered head, hopefully it would add some padding. The man let out a low groan as the brick cracked in half against the back of his head. Thankfully there was very little blood and he was out cold, it was definitely gonna hurt like hell tomorrow morning but he would be alright in the end.

Quickly rummaging through the mans pockets revealed a small key card. Orys rushed to the locked door, motioning for Jacelle to follow as he unlocked it. He quietly closed the door behind them, leaving it slightly cracked in case Vara needed to follow. "Ok we're in Vara. Just keep eyes on the second floor for anyone who fits the targets description". He and Jacelle were now in a storage room located at the very back of the hotel near the pool. He took a moment to catch his breath as he looked at a nearby floor plan that marked "HERE" at their current location. Lucky for them they were near the emergency staircase leading to the second floor and beyond.

The method of slicing Vara had used to access the cameras did only that at the moment. It was a discreetly invasive slice that allowed her to view the cameras, but not effect their recording ability or direction. That would require more work. As she flipped through the cams, she noticed something immediately out of the ordinary. Some employee was on the ground by the dumpster.

Vara sighed, suspecting this was the handy work of her companions. The slicer rummaged through her bag, pulling out a distinct data cylinder and plugging it into her datapad. Her datapad's screen froze for a split second as it analyzed the data being poured into it. This data was able to be transmitted from her system to the security system, hopefully allowing access to the controls of the cameras.

Vara held her breath for a moment, knowing this was a much more invasive slicing tactic, and hoped that the hotel's systems were insecure enough for her to force her way in without any bells or whistles. Another moment passed, and no alarms or alerts seemed to go off, indicating she was in without the system realizing she was an unauthorized user.

Using the remote access, Vara slightly adjusted the camera's scanning maneuver up slightly so that it put the view of the ground where the worker lay out of frame. She knew this would allow the system to appear to work as normal and someone who idly glanced at the system wouldn't notice anything wrong.

Vara took another drag of her deathstick and switched the focus back to the second floor that showed both of the potential rooms. "Think the Ranger is a womanizer?" The slicer asked jokingly to her partners in crime. She noticed one of the rooms had a necktie on it, indicating perhaps that there was company and the tenant wished to not be disturbed. "Room 203 looks like there's company staying the night. Can't see anything with Room 201. May be unoccupied?"

Jaçelle started up the emergency stairs, mustering up every quiet bone in her body to try and reduce the sound of her weight and armor going up the stairs. The short climb eventually revealed a door, which itself revealed an empty hallway. Rooms 203, 202, and 201 popped into her line of sight. Whether 201 or 203, 202 would hopefully serve to muffle any sound they would make. Jaçelle looked over at Orys, as if to ask "which one?"

As Orys and Jacelle climbed the stairs and neared the second floor, the smell of tobacco smoke and liquor grew stronger and stronger. Once they arrived he began to examine the hallway for any other clues. The hallway was lined with green carpet featuring a triangle shaped pattern of red. Spotless, they definitely took care of this place. What he and Jacelle noticed that Vara couldn't behind a camera was the low sound of music playing from 203. "That one" he replied to Jacelle as he slowly crept towards the door. As both of his feet came to a stop at the front of the door, a woman from inside could be heard giggling and the odor of smoke was almost overpowering. "Oh Fitz you crack me up" was heard from inside the room. He quietly tested the door to see if it was locked, gently jiggling the handle up and down. Unfortunately, it was. Plan B.

Orys loudly banged on the door with a closed fist using his left hand. As he did so he drew one of his blasters in his right hand put kept it pointed down so that the man couldn't see it if her were to look through the peephole. "Just follow my lead. Try not to rough him up too much, at least till we get what we need". After a few seconds of waiting the sound footsteps grew louder and louder as the man approached the door. "What the hell do you want? Don't you see the necktie?"

"Mr. Fitzgerald it's security, we've been asked to escort you downstairs as you're late on your payments". The mans voice grew louder and Orys could hear something drop in the background. "Late? What the hell is she talking about". This Fitzgerald guy definitely had a temper. He cracked the door leaving about a 6 inch opening allowing him to see Orys and Jacelle both. Orys quickly raised his pistol to the man's face and threw himself into the door forcing it open. Fitzgerald was caught off guard and thrown backwards flailing about, dropping the kitchen knife in his hand. "You son of a-". The mans words were cut short as Orys poked him in the face with his blaster. "Shut your mouth and don't say a word unless I tell you to or i'll paint this goddamn room red".

The woman in the room had curled into a ball in the corner, half naked. Seeing as she didn't bother to help the man and was barely clothed Orys figured she was a prostitute. A decent sum of credits were sprawled on the table nearby. "Grab it and go. Don't say anything to anyone. I know your face". The woman gathered her things and complied, sliding the credits off the table and into a designer bag. This likely wasn't her first troublesome encounter in her career and Orys hoped she would just take the money and put it behind her. As the woman ran out of the room, Orys quickly shut and locked the door behind her.

Vara kept an eye on the systems, looking to see if there were any potential witnesses as her companions approached the doorways. It was desolate, granted it was about an hour from sunrise, and not many on the Moon were up at this time. Thinking back, it was ideal that they went ahead and did it this early in the morning.

From the camera, Vara saw the two enter room 203 and a moment later, a woman ran out. She assumed this woman was the Ranger's 'guest'. She trusted that Orys and Jaçelle made the right choice, letting her go freely. Still, she shifted around the cameras, keeping an eye on her until she was away from the property's view. The slicer was familiar with those types, just another form of criminal on the Smuggler's Moon. Surely this wasn't their first encounter and knew it was better to keep their mouth shut.

Vara switched cameras back to the second floor hallway, the doors were closed now and she didn't have visual on what was happening. At this point, she sighed, trusting they would use their commlinks if something arose.

Jaçelle kept her pistol aimed at Fitz as Orys fiddled with the door, her eyes narrowed into slits. Gesturing with her gun, she had him sit on the bed. She then began to rifle through the room, trusting that Orys would keep an eye on him as she did.

She yanked out dresser drawers and took the back panel off the TV. She wasn't really looking for anything, but figured her searching would unsettle the ex-ranger.

Eventually, she found a datapad in the bottom drawer of a side table. Jaçelle held it up and turned it on. No password? Damn. This could be exactly what they needed.

"We're looking for someone," Jaçelle admitted to the ranger. "Care to help us out? It'd be a shame if the local forces...found you."

Orys turned from the door to see Jacelle rummaging through the man's belongings and instinctively trained his heavy blaster on the man to prevent any dumb ideas from popping up in his head. The ranger looked rather frail in appearance but Orys could tell by the thousand yard stare in his eyes that his mental fortitude only grew with age. Having been a sector ranger for 25+ years could do that to you. Orys looked over Jacelle's shoulder and at the datapad held in her hands as she turned the device on. A brief dive into some of the easily accessible files revealed that Mr. Fitzgerald hadn't actually retired but was undercover and attempting to gather Intel on local gangs and organizations. A risky endeavor indeed.

"She's right Fitz. If this information were to be shared with even a few people residing on this street you would't leave this rock alive. Gang affiliated or not people don't like the law snooping in their business. Especially your kind of law that knows no boundaries but what they set for themselves". The man scoffed while making himself comfortable on the bed. Orys immediately moved to throw the pillows and blankets on the ground in case he was hiding something underneath. "What do you idiot's want?".

"There's a snitch believed to be in your peoples custody. Goes by the name of Lucius Quinn". Orys paused a moment as he took the decor of the room in. Pictures of what looked like Fitz, his wife, and their two kids were framed and hung on several walls. A big red flag that Fitzgerald intended to take his time gathering information. Also a real piece of work to be having prostitutes over to pass the time when you got a wife and kids back home. He and Fitz locked eyes for a moment as Fitz noticed Orys observing the pictures of his family. "Don't think about it you sick bastard. They don't get involved. I don't know anything about a snitch or anyone named Lucius Quinn".

"Bullshit. You don't want the wife and kids involved? Tell us what we want to know". Orys had no real intention of harming anyone's children as he had two kids of his own. However he also knew any decent man would do anything to protect his own flesh and blood so he followed through with the power play. He approached a nearby picture while still training his gun on the man, using his other hand to lift the frame off of the wall. "Kids are cute. Must be from the mother's side".

"Go to hell, thug. If I tell you anything you'll probably kill me anyways".

"You gotta take risks in situations like these my friend. Don't you wanna see these pretty blue eyes again?" he asked holding the picture up. Orys offered a brief nod to Jacelle hinting at possibly roughing the man up so he'd speak or even further destroying the room. Maybe some personal belongings?
