MONTITIA

A poverty stricken backwater, Montitia's primary industries are dust farming and slave catching. A world always on the brink of destitution, yet still tolerable enough to support a bloated population. Regular famines and consistent slave raids keep the populace in check, however, enough for the dust barons to retain some sense of control over the planet. In 51 ABY, Valgus Kromar, self styled Dust King of Montitia, launched an invasion of the Republic with twelve corvettes and a cruiser. This was, historians agree, the most significant thing to have ever happened relating to Montitia.

LEQUABIS

An arid world of deep, rocky crags and low, sweeping valleys, Lequabis is famed for its exotic crystals used in fusion reactors and high-power turbolasers. While it had teetered on the edge of the frontier for centuries Lequabis was always a well-developed colonial world. Despite its proud and independent spirit, the world was subdued by the Hand of the Emperor in a conquest that lasted only a month. Its native inhabitants, human tribes of startling variety, are some of the oldest settlers known to inhabit this region of the Outer Rim.

SHASFATH

The gateway to Wild Space, and beyond, the Unknown Regions, Shasfath is a world cloaked in mystery and rumor. Its lonely, snow-capped peaks are crowded by ancient ruins of unknown origin. People say they were built by sentient droids. They do not say who built the thinking machines. Still, their rusted skeletons can be found by the intrepid adventurer.

THE HAND OF THE EMPEROR

The Hand of the Emperor reaches out from beyond the grave. Though Palpatine died long ago his touch can still be felt on the galaxy at large and particularly within the Freestanding Subsectors. While Gallius Rax and Admiral Sloane organized the greatest exodus of imperials to the galactic west they were not the only to do so. Goran Horst, Admiral of the 85th Fleet, began the evacuation of the Har Worlds within a few months of Endor. The imperial garrisons, state-owned corporations, and important assets followed the 85th Fleet as it fled into the Freestanding Subsectors. While the Empire had no real presence in the region the escaping forces made their way to K'Takt, home to scattered imperial outposts and facilities.

While several decades were spent establishing a proper base of operations in orbit over K'Takt, following Emperor Palpatine's brief return and sudden demise at Exegol any hopes of reasserting the old Empire were dashed. It was in that same year that Admiral Horst founded the Hand of the Emperor. An organization to maintain the ideology of the New Order and restore security to the galactic south, it was the largest neo-imperial force after the destruction of the Final Order. Despite the concentrated power of an entire imperial fleet at one planet the Hand saw little success. Incompetence, ambition, and blind arrogance plagued the officer corps for decades as they slammed into the defenses of nearby worlds again and again. By 45 ABY the 85th Fleet was a shadow of its former glory and all agreed that a change was needed.

The decadent core world dynasties that had dominated the Hand of the Emperor were sidelined. Performance, not pedigree, would determine advancement, and training was focused on creating skilled officers and soldiers, not obedient political tools. This culminated in the Day of the Open Doors. Soldiers loyal to the most skilled and practiced officers conducted a purge. Men were dragged from their beds, shot in the hall, and their bodies spaced. By the end of the day the barracks doors sat open, their rooms empty. With the tacit support of Darth Morkin, the mysterious benefactor of the Hand of the Emperor, the new officer clique were unopposed.
