DESCRIPTION

With their heavy reliance on the Republic for funds and equipment, the remnants of the Jedi Order used the resources at its disposal to develop ships of their own to aid in the war against the Sith Empire. Restricted by limited resources, the Mon Calamari shipwrights turned their back on the galactic trend towards larger ships and focused on creating a smaller, more maneuverable ship that could hold its own against the Sith behemoths. The result was the Defender-class star cruiser. Designed by refugees from the Mon Calamari system, produced by the CEC, the Defender was a cost effective solution to the Jedi's need to oppose the might of the imperial star destroyers.

Fast, heavily armed, and able to take a beating, the Defenders are meant to be used in small groups, outmaneuvering larger ships while bombarding them with heavy firepower from all sides. With two major hangers on both sides of the ship for deploying star-fighters, and a larger hanger below that can also house freighters and shuttles, the Defender can deploy and recall its complement at a much faster rate than most ships. This makes the Defender ideal for hit-and-run tactics, jumping into enemy territory, deploying its complement, inflicting a great deal of damage and escaping before the enemy has a chance to respond.

P.S. Defenders were meant to be for TV what the Avengers were for the big screen.

Ranks of the Jedi Order
[beebox4=90%]

Welcome to the Jedi faction! Now that you've decided to join (or even if you're still thinking of joining), it's important to know what the ranks are in the faction. Officially, we have four: the Initiates (unofficial rank), the Jedi Knights, the Jedi Council, and the Jedi Grand Master (the Grandmaster being the faction leader). The Grand Master and Jedi Masters constitute the Jedi Council, in charge of leading the Order. Unofficially, we also have the Initiate rank. Training is not required in the Jedi faction, so you are encouraged to start as a Jedi Knight. If you want, you can start as a Initiate. If you choose to do this and wish to go through training, however, it will be your responsibility to find someone to train your character, as training is not an official process within the faction.

When creating your character, regardless of whether you start as a Knight or an Initiate, keep in mind what the Jedi are. The path to becoming a Jedi is a lifelong journey. Learning and understanding are the pillars of a Jedi's life. Whether someone is an Initiate, Knight, Master, or even the Grand Master themselves, Jedi are always learning about the ways of the Force, the balance of the galaxy, and themselves.

For our faction, we are organized around the idea of fighting the Sith, as well as injustice throughout the galaxy. Though we are in name the Jedi Order, our ideals and goals are still those of the Jedi Army, a fighting force against the Dark Side. Our ranks, which are as follows, reflect that.

Initiate
(optional - you can start as a Jedi Knight)

Although not fully-fledged Jedi Knights in their own right, Jedi Initiates display a degree of maturity and strength becoming of any bastion of the Order. If willing and very carefully tested as to their fitness, stability and soundness, a grown Padawan can be permitted to fight as a soldier under the guidance of the Jedi Knights. Granted special permissions, lessened oversight and the right to engage Sith on the battlefield, Jedi Initiates are still frequently at the side of a more experienced Jedi to protect and guide them through the trials that all Jedi face during wartime. Due to the hardships common to battles, Jedi Initiates can often be Knighted in the field, bypassing the more traditional trials provided the struggled they've endured are considered to be either equal or superior to what the Trails would have brought against them. While this practise was once frowned upon by the Council, they now recognize that such promotions produce Knights with strength of will born through experience and hard-learned lessons and can be trusted to make a firm stand against the Dark Side.

REMINDER: The Initiate rank is optional and only recommended for advanced RPers. You may start as a Jedi Knight.

Jedi Knight

Forming the bulk of the Jedi Order are the fabled Jedi Knights. Scholars, scientists, sages, healers, historians, negotiators, diplomats, guardians, explorers—these are but a few of the many titles attributed to one that is deemed a Jedi Knight. The Jedi Knight is the image that comes to the mind of billions of the galaxy's inhabitants when they think of the word 'Jedi'.

They are powerful Force users who have completed their training and undergone several considerable trials to prove their skills, knowledge and dedication to the Light Side of the Force. The Jedi Knights are the most publicly recognized members of the Order, often assigned to distant and volatile worlds on peacekeeping missions. In that capacity, Jedi Knights serve as diplomats, protectors, scholars, archaeologists, and more in their time in the Army. With remarkable skills with the lightsaber and the Force alike, they are some of the most formidable warriors in the galaxy.

Jedi Knights are the protectors of justice and guardians of the innocent, aiming to defend the Republic and the Galaxy from the Sith invaders. This has led to the Knights becoming the public face of the Jedi Order rather than the Jedi Council. Once seen as outsiders by galactic agencies, such as the Senate and the Grand Army of the Republic, that is no longer the case. With campaigns ranging from healing worlds deeply scarred by the Dark Side, to liberating systems conquered by the Empire, to defending worlds not even their own, the Jedi Knights have sewn and established goodwill and a positive reputation of the Jedi Order across many worlds in nearly all regions of the galaxy. To a great many worlds, especially worlds far from the reach of the Republic, the Jedi Knights represent either the only force keeping Sith dominance at bay, or the only hope of freedom from Sith oppression.

Jedi Generals
[beebox4=90%]

[/beebox4]

Although the most famous Jedi Masters were often individuals of peace, some Jedi Masters became known as leaders in war, particularly during eras of Sith imperialization. These Jedi Masters became the foremost bastions against the galaxy becoming swallowed by the material forces of the Dark Side. In the Army of Light these Jedi Masters became known simply as the Jedi Generals, a rank held by a chosen few.

The Jedi Generals form the leadership of the Jedi army, having sworn to defend the Republic and the galaxy against the Sith invaders. Forsaking the traditional rank of Jedi Master, these Generals understand that, while the Jedi prefer non-violent paths, sometimes combat is inevitable, a belief that has been forged by millennia of wars with the Sith. Not willing to await the Sith to recover all their former strength and plunge the galaxy into a second millennium-long dark age, these Jedi have willingly sacrificed themselves to become the soldiers that their brethren would otherwise, eventually, be forced to become should the Sith return in full strength.They are highly experienced in strategy and warfare tactics, leading the fight against the Sith with unwavering resolve.

NOTE:While the rank of Master may be used for story purposes, General is the only title given to characters by the Jedi Leadership. The rank of Master will only be used by NPCs and the members of the Jedi Council. That does not mean that Jedi cannot self-appoint themselves with unofficial titles. A few titles that have occurred over the years, but are not officially recognized, include Blade Master, Barsen'thor, Lore Master, and Watch Master.

Jedi Council
[beebox4=90%]

[/beebox4]

Even after a lifetime of meditation, self-reflection, training and acquired wisdom, few Jedi ever reach the enlightenment and qualifications to become a venerated Jedi Master. Honored for their wisdom, respected for their strength and sought for their knowledge, Jedi Masters represent the best of what the Jedi Order embodies. Although the most famous Jedi Masters were often individuals of peace, some Jedi Masters became known as leaders in war, particularly during eras of Sith imperialization. These Jedi Masters became the foremost bastions against the galaxy becoming swallowed by the material forces of the Dark Side. In the Army of Light these Jedi Masters became known simply as the Jedi Generals, a rank that was ultimately discarded upon the reformation of the Jedi Council.

A collective formed from the wisest and most powerful Jedi Masters, the Jedi Council is the ruling body of the Jedi Order, governing the Order's affairs, principally on the spiritual level, but also encompassing the Jedi's actions politically and militarily. The Council acts as the spiritual and political leaders of Order. The Masters often take the lead in political dealings with other galactic powers, such as the Jedi Order's interactions with the remnants of the Galactic Republic. On the other hand they are also the leaders of the Jedi Order's military branch, and control where the Jedi Knights are deployed and garrisoned.

There were roughly five to six members of the Jedi Council at any given time, and while some possessed unique privileges, all were considered and treated as equals.

Jedi Grand Master
(faction leader)

The Jedi Grand Master is the spiritual leader of the Jedi Order, but is a leader as much as a follower. Whereas the Sith see their leaders as a supreme noble authority, the Jedi view the Grand Master as a high ranking authority that bows to one higher than themselves; in this case, they respect the authority of the Jedi Council and view the Will of the Force as higher than their own.

The Grand Master is the head of the Jedi Order as a whole, though as the Jedi are a theocracy and direct themselves as they interpret the Force's will, the Grand Master does not act as a dictator so much as the spiritual leader, the one most sensitively in tune with the will of the Force.
