DESCRIPTION​

The Raider Class patrol boat is a high end systems defense craft developed by CEC for sale to Certain Core world defense forces, militaries, and law enforcement organizations tasked with defending their home systems. The Raider was designed from the ground up for the purpose of systems defense, and in this role it excels as a customs enforcement ship. The crafts most notable feature is an advanced, miniaturized light ion cannon- while it is ineffective against capital ships, the weapon is more than capable of disabling shields and causing serious electronic damage to most freighters and smaller craft trying to run from authorities. Once disabled and caught up to with the ships powerful engines, the Raider can use its forcible boarding tube to mate with nearly any standard ramp or air lock on most ships, or blast its own hole when no other is available. The passenger capacity is typically reserved for troopers or customs officers armed and equipped for forcible boarding, and in place of a standard cargo hold the Raider boasts 8 individual holding cells for captured smugglers and other criminals, and an evidence locker for holding confiscated goods.

The ion cannon makes the craft highly expensive, which tends make it a significant investment for many agencies. Due to this, it is very uncommon outside heavily populated or wealthy systems. The lack of a hyperdrive (due to its intended role) only slightly offsets these costs. Some navies and their larger carrier craft carry these ships in place of shuttles or landing craft for use in forced boarding actions.

Highly restricted due to their armament and role, and CEC sells only to legitimate government buyers.
