Beep! Beep! Beep!
Lieutenant Commander (select) Kola Morado was violently jerked into wakefulness by the alarm on his bedside table going off. The Tarasin looked with bleary eyes towards the chrono...and panicked!
"Frakk! How long have I been sleeping through my alarm!"
The reptilian humanoid shot out of bed and put on his flight-suit in record time. On it were his name tag, his pilot's wings, and the insignia for a Lieutenant in the Republic navy. Though Kola had been selected for promotion to Lieutenant Commander, it had not been made official just yet. In fact, one of the last things standing between him and his new rank was the training simulator scheduled to begin in...7 minutes!
Kola's skin flashed red as he sprinted through the halls, showing up in the Sim Room with seconds to spare. Breathing heavily, the cheeky lizard flashed a jaunty salute to the senior officers he knew were watching behind the mirrors of the elevated observation chamber. There's nothing like arriving in style, right?
Ambling over towards the flight simulator, Kola noticed he hadn't finished fastening the clasps on his left boot, and subtly rectified his mistake as his climbed into the pod.
Settling into the flight seat, he had to wriggle for a moment until he could find a comfortable spot for his tail. These seats never fit well for species with tails, but they were mostly designed for humans so what could you do? Dismissing this trivial thought, he flicked the proper toggles to bring the simulator to life.
As the junior officer pulled his flight helmet onto his head, the female robotic voice of the computer came to him through the speakers, announcing his name and the program he was about to begin.

"And a good morning to you too, beautiful! What have you got for me today?"
Kola rested his gloved hands on the controls and waited for the screens around him to come to life...
