Republic Newsletter 1/16/2017
Hello everyone! As some of you may know, I have returned as Republic FL. For most of you however, this is probably the first you have ever heard of it, in which case:
First and foremost, I would like to name my incumbent AFLs. @Calixis has agreed to assist me, and I am excited to have his aid as he has some great ideas to help get the Republic moving forward, specifically in the GAR. As my second AFL, I have asked a friend of mine to assist, namely @Darasuum. While he is not a current member of the Republic, I feel he will also be able to help keep the faction moving forward with fresh ideas. The pair of them will be assisting me in dispensing with my duties as FL. If I am not around, please feel free to check with them on important matters/decisions. In the coming weeks, I will be conferring with them to ensure we are of the same mind on key issues.
Second, I know you all are probably wondering why I left as FL in the first place, but also why I have decided to come back. The answer to the first part is simple, as I was honest in my post when I first resigned. Simply put, I had real life pressures I had to take care of, and I felt I was being imbalanced in my responsibilities in real life. On top of that, I was burned out. It's no secret how frustrating pvp can be, and my attitude toward pvp was souring to the point where I was blatantly targeting friends of mine and assuming bad motives on their part, which was unfair to them. When I started doing that, it was my cue to leave. I didn't want that soured attitude to leak onto everyone else and further poison the Republic. Since we are on this topic, I would like to address something here and now. Under my leadership, all members of the Republic will be held accountable for their actions in a pvp, speaking on an ooc level. If you are rude or needlessly confrontational to those participating in the thread, that will not be tolerated. We cannot have this 'us' vs 'them' mentality when going into a pvp, regardless of what we may assume about those on the other side. This is an rp site wherein people go to so as to escape the pressures of life. When we begin to carry those frustrations to this place, something is wrong.
That being said, I would like everyone who is, or who is considering to become, a part of the Republic know that I will stand beside you if you feel as if someone you are participating in a thread with is being needlessly aggressive or confrontational. If you feel that way, please tell me or my AFLs. We should always head into a thread under the mindset of collaboration and having fun. It shouldn't be to engage in an ooc fest and spew insults at others. I feel I have a better grasp of what all of that means now, and that is why I have returned, at least in part. The Republic needs a strong leader, and I hope to facilitate. Now let's move on to the important part of this newsletter.
What is our next step as a faction? Our first priority as a faction at this stage is for us to discover who we have who is willing to be active in this faction, willing to participate and contribute. While myself and my AFLs will work hard to provide content and leadership, it is the members who make the difference in a faction. Without capable rpers, nothing we do will make a difference. It is with this thought in mind that I reach out to all on the site.
If you have ever thought about joining the Republic, and would like to help us make the faction cool and exciting while having fun along the way, please consider joining us now. Every member, no matter how experienced, helps. Along that same vein, some of the changes you can expect are as follows:
1. Expect changes to the Grand Army of the Republic. Many have shared the thought that the GAR is too cluttered and needs revisions to make it more palatable. That is one of the first things we will do once we hash out our membership base.
2. The Republic Senate will be revived. The senate used to be one of the most active aspects of the Republic faction. We plan on bringing it back with a vengeance, which means we need more senators.
3. More storylines. We plan on bringing about more storylines to make the Republic unique and engaging, along with trying to be competitive pvp wise. A lot of people tend to forget this, but the Republic was fairly successful pvp wise. We won 3 main faction battles, with the only loss being to Death Watch. That's gotta mean something, and with the right mentality, we can keep a strong record going while having fun and making friends along the way.
Now, I would like to ask something of all those within the Republic who wish to remain a part of the Republic. While it is not a requirement, I ask that all members get on skype and add me. My username is 'Fyre Mage'. My avatar is Robert Downy Jr., lol. Add me, and I will add you to the Republic faction chat. It is very important that we get people into that chat. Otherwise, members not there will feel like the Republic isn't doing anything when in actuality we are planning and discussing things on that chat.
With all of that being said, I would like to thank everyone who read this. It means a lot, and hopefully we can "Make the Republic Great Again!" Who knows, perhaps we can even build a wall and force the Mandalorians to pay for it.
