Command Structure
The Marines follow a system that resembles the Republic Army, but features distinct differences in rank and unit sizes. The following list spells out all Corps rankings corresponding with commands and qualifications:

Command Council


Marine Corps Commandant
The overall commander of all Corps operations. The Commandant serves as a adviser to the Chancellor and generally holds the rank of General.


Marine Corps Vice Commandant
The direct liaison of the Commandant’s leadership, the Vice Commandant has qualifications be take over as Commandant if necessary and usually briefs ranking officers on classified operations. He serves as a direct advisor to the Commandant and holds equal authority with the Chief of Staff. Vice Commandants usually posses the rank of General or Colonel.


Sabermaster of the Order
The Sabermaster holds the rank of General or Colonel and posses equal authority with the Vice Commandant, qualified to step up to either role if necessary. Any Jedi who're either in trouble or recomended for promotion will be run by him first. Councils the Commandant on tactics against Bogan or other such Force sensitive enemies.

Officers


General
A General is a member of the command council of Commandant, Vice Commandant, or Chief of Staff. The rank of General is only possessed by the best and brightest of all Marine Corps officers, and is highly coveted among it’s member as being highly exclusive and respected.


Colonel
Colonels command battalions of 500 Marines, consisting of five companies. Among the battalion, each company commander serves as a staff officer to the Colonel, serving in such positions as tactical, logistical, etc. officers, with one Major as his executive officer.


Major
A Major is the commander of one company of around 100 Marines, who serves as the executive officer of a battalion under a Colonel.


Captain
Captains serve as company commanders under a Colonel, leading a unit of around 100 men. They also serve on a Colonel’s command staff with a position as tactical, operations, logistics, or intelligence officer. Captains have passed through Officer Candidate training and typically have around 5-15 years of Corps experience.


Lieutenant
A Lieutenant is a fresh Corps officer straight from Officer Candidate school, who command a platoon of 50 men and sometimes additionally are assigned as company executive officer. Lieutenants are advised by a platoon sergeants who aids them in their understanding of the workings of the Corps.

Enlisted


Sergeant Major
Sergeant Majors have over 10 years of experience in the Corps, and serve as enlisted advisers to battalion commanders.


Gunnery Sergeant
Gunnery Sergeants serve as company and platoon sergeants depending on their seniority. They advise new officers on the workings of the Corps, and handle the inspection and discipline of troops under their charge. They usually hold operation command over as many squads as their company or platoon commander designates to them.


Staff Sergeant
Staff Sergeants often serve as platoon sergeants, and squad leaders. This is as far as most Marines can expect to get in the Corps with a fairly successful enlisted career.


Sergeant
Sergeants serve as squad leaders and, less often, double as platoon sergeants. Sergeants have a decent number of years in the Corps, and are able to guide younger members through the ropes.




Corporal
Corporals are junior non-commissioned officers, who normally lead fireteams or in some cases squads.


Private 1st Class
Private 1st Classes are Marines who have just recently graduated from boot camp and are serving as normal soldiers, sometimes designating into different fields depending on their occupational specialty.

Marine recruits going through boot camp.
