Disclaimer: Please note that in addition to the Role-Playing Rules, it is important to get acquainted with the following rules and guidelines if you intend to submit custom content: Technology Rules, Lore Guidelines, Planet Guidelines and Species Guidelines. Furthermore, if you want to submit character plots and participate in factional plots or site events, you should read the Plot Guidelines.

Subsection A: Role-playing will be the main activity of the site.

Subsection B: Show respect to everyone in the role-play. Members, moderators and administrators should all be shown the same level of respect by everyone. Just because someone has a higher title than you, it does not mean they are better than anyone else.

Subsection C: When it comes to subjects that could be controversial such as torture, rape, pedophilia and excessive gore, please steer clear of it. You can have torture and gore and such, but it must be kept to a minimum and it cannot be graphic in any way. However, you may not portray rape and pedophilia in any form. Please use common sense.

Subsection D: Posting Out of Character (OOC) messages in a role-play thread should be kept to an absolute minimum. Please take advantage of and utilize the Story OOC board.

Subsection E: If your character dies in the RP, it cannot be brought back under any circumstances. Dead characters are to remain dead. However, usage of Force ghosts/Sith Spirits does require approval from an administrator. Character death though is permanent. While certain characters may continue under special circumstances as Force Ghosts, this is still considered a state of death. Cheating death after being killed via any means (including but not limited to Resurrection, Reanimation, Cloning and Possession) is strictly prohibited.

Subsection F: The administrative staff reserves the right to lay out appropriate consequences they see fit for the breaking the Role-Playing or Site Rules. Members who continue to violate the Role-Playing Rules will be issued a warning as their first offense. If members have been previously issued a warning, an infraction (point) will be issued against their account. Members obtaining one (1) infractions will be issued an one (1) day ban from the site. Members obtaining two (2) infractions will be banned for one (1) month. Members who obtain three (3) infractions will be permanently banned. Members violating the rules listed in the Terms of Service will result in an infraction without warning.

Subsection F.1: Members may submit an appeal to the staff in order have their oldest warning or infraction removed from their account (one at a time) if able to demonstrate appropriate behavior on the site for four (4) consecutive months without further warnings, infractions, bans, or other poor behavior choices. Please note, just because an appeal is made, it does not mean it will be automatically granted.

Subsection G: If there is an issue in a thread, attempt to resolve the matter with the other party. If the dispute is unable to be resolved, contact an administrator by using the report post function on the post relating to the dispute. Please note, staff members hold the right to reject a report if believed to be a non-issue or can be resolved between members.
Subsection G.1: However, in combat if a post is an obvious case of auto-hit, the case can go directly to reports instead of requiring an OOC to resolve.
Subsection H: Advertisements to other sites, regardless of content, are not allowed.

Subsection I: Members sock-puppeting accounts in order to bypass bans, circumvent the four (4) character rule, or for any other forms of malicious intent, will be permanently banned from the website.

Subsection J: Signatures and Avatars cannot contain any profanity censored by the site and cannot contain any picture or texts that violates the TOS.

Subsection A: Writers are limited to four characters at one time; this limit transcends accounts.

Subsection B: Your characters are not God, they are not immortal, they are not invincible, and they are not perfect. They are mortal beings and bad things can and will happen to them. A character cannot dodge every attack, make every attack hit an opponent, and cannot instantly kill people. Please avoid creating Mary Sues and/or Gary Stus; having weaknesses gives characters…character.

Subsection C: The use of character sub-accounts is mandatory. Sub-accounts can be created by filling the form found here. After login into your newly created sub-account, you must enter your OOC username, a link to your OOC account and pick a faction here before being able to post in the RP forums. Please note, that it can take up to ten minutes for your character account to be set up and ready to use. If you are encountering any issue creating a character sub-account, please notify an administrator.

Subsection C.1: Sub-accounts are to be used in character exclusively. Character profiles can only be posted by OOC accounts.
Subsection C.2: Any abuse of sub-accounts will be sanctioned with an infraction point.

Subsection D: When making the profile for your character, be sure to make it detailed. When posting a profile, it cannot say "Coming Soon" or be a "Work-In-Progress (WIP)". It must have at least 2 paragraphs per section with a minimum of 50 words each. Writing that said character in which there isn’t a backstory is not excusable: everyone has a backstory. You may find the profile template here and if you still have questions, feel free to consult any members on the site.
Subsection D.1: Please note that when making your character, it needs to be in the correct timeline. Our current timeline is around seven thousand years before Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Please read this thread for more information.
Subsection D.2: Please also note that when creating your character’s name, canon last names are not allowed without admin approval.

Subsection E: Your character cannot start with a large amount of weapons and armor. They must earn them through time, within reason.
Subsection E.1: Independent characters cannot start RPing in possession of a lightsaber, even if they have associated with a Force-based faction or organization in the past. It must be earned through time in RPs.
Subsection F: Lightsaber resistant materials are allowed in this timeline for use in weapons such as vibroswords - however, full-body armor made of these materials is not allowed. Significant areas of the body must still be made of more mundane materials. Pure Cortosis is not allowed. Also note that Beskar is no longer canon and cannot be used. Please see the Technology Rules for more information.

Subsection G: All kinds of ships, weapons, armor, and or droids, providing they are reasonable, are welcome. However, it must follow the SWRP Technology Rules.

Subsection H: An individual character may be in only one faction, regardless if they are in a Faction or an Organization. They cannot be enrolled in an Organization and a Main Faction at the same time.

Subsection H1: Characters joining a Main Faction must start at the default rank for that faction.

Subsection I: If a character dies and that character owned vast amount of assets, a new character cannot have those assets transferred to them without approval from the character profile moderators.

Subsection J: No one may possess a Superweapon, unless approved by an administrator, of any kind which includes, but is not limited to, Death Stars, Superlasers (unless they are some sort of ground based Ion Canon), Sun Crushers, Galaxy Guns, Darksabers, etc. Large scale explosives may be used on vessels.

Subsection K: You may only have a character at a council rank or above in ONE faction. For example, if you have a character on the Sith Council, you may NOT have a Jedi character on the Jedi Council or Hutt Council. For the case of Indie factions, you may have a character that is involved in assistant leadership/second in command, but you may NOT have a character that is a Faction Leader and also have a different character on a Main Faction council.

Subsection A: Credits are automatically earned by posting with your character sub-account(s). Every 100 words equals 1 credit. In order to advance to level 2, a character must achieve 500 credits (50,000 words). Level 3 will require 1250 credits (125,000 words). Level 4, the highest level, is 2750 credits (275,000 words). These credits are cumulative.

Subsection B: Willingness to engage in PvP and plot completion will be rewarded with bonus credits.

Subsection C: In the event of character death, a player may request 50% of the total credits earned by the dead character to be transferred to another of that same player's characters.

Subsection D: It should also be noted that the staff will not tolerate any post fluffing to unreasonably boost word count. Fluffing includes copying and pasting to hide extra unnecessary words within a post, adding or quoting entire IC verbal conversations from previous posts into current posts and more. Staff will take the time to review posts, so this will be caught. Members caught doing this will earn a warning, and any action taken afterward will result in infractions and bans.

Subsection E: As they reach higher level, characters will gain more influence and fame within their respective factions and thorough the galaxy. This can either be negated or amplified by the actions of specific characters in the RP.

Subsection F: Ranks and levels are distinct. Levels are gained strictly based on the amount of credits a character has and and are primarily an Out of Character determination of how strong a character is in the Force, how well known they are throughout the galaxy, their skill and mastery in their chosen areas and their eligibility to hold a rank/title within their faction. Ranks are based on plots and are determined by staff. In order to be eligible for a certain rank, a character must meet the minimum level for the rank and complete plots. Plots can begin before achieving the required amount of credits to expedite the process. Members will be required to complete major plots in order to prove they are committed to higher ranks and have an impact on the story.

Subsection A: The Force is the greatest power in the galaxy. This will never be questioned.

Subsection B: Force users, however, are not superhuman, do not have immense control over the Force, nor are they invincible. If someone uses Force Powers against you, take appropriate hits to keep things fair. The Force does have its limits as it does consume energy and takes concentration to use, with the amount of concentration and energy depending on the potency of use. For example, a Force push on an individual won't take as much energy as someone using the Force to throw a starfighter; digging into someone's mind is going to take more focus and time than pulling a person's legs out from underneath them; using the Force to sense bolts when one cannot see is going to take less energy and focus than healing wounds; etc.

Subsection C: You cannot use a Force Power that will cause massive destruction to a wide radius, cause massive property damage or kill hundreds or more people, even if they are all NPCs, unless you receive permission from the administration.

Subsection D: When using a Force Power in a role-play, you must make it detailed. “He used Force Push” is not an acceptable description. The Force is used as an extension of one's will, not invoked by an incantation.

Subsection E: You are not permitted to use Force Powers against a non-Force user if the non-Force user is unable to counter that attack. However, almost all of the powers can be used against non-Force users.

Subsection F: You cannot use force-sense or similar precognitive abilities to sense, detect, and/or avoid an incoming attack to the point of infallibility. Even a Jedi's senses are prone to failure, and sense intent rather than action.

Subsection G:Use the Guide to Force Powers to properly use the Force as viewed on the site.

Subsection H: Lightsaber combat takes years to master. Lightsaber combat has its limits. Not every attack, blaster or otherwise, can be blocked. Certain attack methods, such as sonic or flames, are not stopped by a lightsaber. While anyone can use a lightsaber, it takes proficiency in the Force to block and deflect blaster and/or stun bolts effectively. Lightsaber's magnetic fields are attracted to each other, and bind on contact, preventing their blades from sliding along each other without great effort.

Subsection A: The default parameters for main faction combat (i.e. skirmishes, duels, battles, ambushes, etc.) consist of a three (3) week (for 1v1 combat) or four (4) weeks (for 2v2 or more) time period from start of thread to end of thread (sign-ups do not affect this time limit). In the event of an ambush or skirmish occurring mid-way through a thread, the time limit begins at the onset of combat. Unofficial battles may extend time periods if rest of party agrees.
Subsection A.1: Battles are to have a pre-determined absolute deadline date - that is, a date at which the battle will conclude regardless of posting activity or content of the thread. If a thread meets this deadline before the battle is concluded, then the battle is to be reported to the staff via the 'report post' feature for a ruling. An administrator will then rule on the outcome of the battle on either a clear victor or draw with details on the escaping or losing parties. Participants are expected to strive to finish the thread on their own before the end of the 3 or 4 week time period.
Subsection A.2: While players may state their equipment in the opening posts of a thread to account for changes or additions to what's on a profile, the character profile is the main point of reference for what the character may use in combat. This means a player may utilize anything posted on their character profile in a thread within reason (no abruptly pulling out vehicles or personal ships).

Subsection B: Combatants are expected to post their opening posts within 72 hours of the battle being first posted.

Subsection C: In a 1v1 battle, participants have up to 48 hours from the last poster's post to post a response; if a member has an issue with the last post, the participant is to notify the administrator or event host in case of time issues, though it is up to the administrator or event host to grant an extra time for examination/clarification or not. A gentlemen's agreement for additional time in main faction battles or missions is not permitted.

Subsection D: All members are expected to post in battles quickly and efficiently. In a 1v1 or 2v2 fight, each team is expected to post within 48 hours. For fights with more than 4 combatants, each side is expected to post within 72 hours. Teams should, whenever possible, post in team blocks. Failure to post in that timeframe will result in your round being considered a "pass" regardless of whether the enemy team has posted.

Subsection D.1: If requested edits by an administrator is not completed within 24 hours of notification, the post in question will be considered null, and treated the same as if there was no post. Auto-hit rules come in effect.

Subsection E: Any attack must be able to be countered unless the situation prevents it OR you have approached the end of a duel. You cannot simply walk into a thread and kill someone instantly. Everyone should be given the chance to defend themselves. Whether or not they are able to think of a defense is up to their own imagination.
Subsection E.1: You may not post things such as “and he shot his opponent in the head” because that gives your opponent virtually no chance of survival and you would be controlling another character. The best way to say something like this is to say that “he shot towards his opponent's head” or "he shot at his opponent's head", as that outlines the intent of an action, rather than dictate it. This is an important distinction and should be adhered to at all times in combat.
Subsection E.2 A character may not post an attack in their first post in a thread. They must wait until at least that character's second post in the thread to attack another character or initiate PvP that is not part of a pre-prepared espionage plot.
Subsection E.3 If something is unclear, you are expected to clarify with your opponent before posting. You may NOT exploit vagueness to your benefit.

Subsection F: In duels, if an opponent completely ignores an attack in his/her counter reply, that attack is an automatic hit. If clarification is needed for an attack, it's up to the players to contact their opponent and clarify an attack. Do not make assumptions and exploit vagueness. Writers are permitted and encouraged to inquire about details regarding a thread. This includes, but is not limited to, participants, location of the thread, explanations for sections of a post, etc. Waiting for an explanation, as long as documented and within reason, does not violate posting time limits.
Subsection F.1: Raif Rule: If an opponent has a catastrophic real life event that prevents them from returning to the site and posting for an extended amount of time, then the hit will not be lethal, however the character may be captured and have an opportunity to have others mount a rescue attempt.
Subsection F.2: If early enough in a thread, a member is unable to continue, then the event host may find a replacement for that character.

Subsection G: Once a participant posts, the previous post can not be addressed for changes. For example, if meta-gaming is believed to have occurred in Post 1 and the opponent posts Post 2, the opponent has solidified the actions in Post 1 and cannot argue Post 1. This only applies to opposition. If a teammate of the poster of Post 1 posts Post 2, it does not exempt Post 1 from review. Any and all posts can be reviewed at the discretion of the administrators.

Subsection H: In any Main Battle, an objective can not be completed if PvP is not initiated. (Ie. if the objective is to blow up a building, you must still defeat the PCs in the opposing faction before you can do so. There is absolutely NO bypassing PvP to complete an objective and escape).

Subsection I: Unofficial main faction combat or non-faction combat may use the standard, or use any parameters by their choice. Unofficial battles (i.e. combat initiated between members) can set up different time limits, or have no time limit, if all parties agree. Still, unless parameters are changed and announced, unofficial battles hold the default setting. Unofficial battles, as long as agreed upon by all parties, can be changed at any point of the thread's execution. The staff reserve the right to revoke any member-imposed rules under extenuating circumstances.

Subsection J: All NPCs are inferior to PCs. An NPC is only to have equivalent skill to a rank-and-file soldier or average trained Force user. NPCs used as obstacles in a mission may be allowed to have a higher strength to make the mission harder, but only for that mission. Use of NPCs in combat is governed on a case-by-case basis.

Subsection J.1: NPC or setting-related defensive emplacements are not to be used to outright overcome a PC Character. While such defenses may be used to provide a challenge to a PC, creating invulnerable locations (such as an unassailable fortress, an unapproachable planet, a flawlessly defended person or location to the extent that one can be killed by simply attempting to attack it) are strictly forbidden.
Subsection J.2: Rules regarding godmodding and metagaming still apply to NPCs. NPCs will not dive in front of your character to save their life from a fatal blow, they will not ignore all other combatants to target a single PC at your command, they will not conveniently walk in front of your character to save your life, you may not materialize them out of thin air, and you may not have civilians spontaneously jump up to your defense. This is not an all-inclusive list, but abuse of NPCs will be harshly dealt with.
Subsection J.3: NPCs cannot be manufactured at a moment's notice. They must be previously established as present in the thread before being used. Keep in mind your characters role and rank within the faction as well and what you are capable of commanding. You may not run off with faction assets without permission from faction leadership.

Subsection K: Keep in mind an individual's stamina and ammunition. There is not an infinite amount of blaster bolts, fuel, and grenades. One's stamina, in normal combative capabilities and usage of the Force, drains over time, especially if one is exerting their body in strenuous activities; same with concentration and focus.

Subsection L: All OPEN threads are death-disabled unless explicitly stated otherwise; the exception is if there is a PvP tag used. If combat is initiated, death-disabled remains in effect unless all participants agree to a change of status to death-enabled. A character in a non-PvP-tagged OPEN thread can only be captured if the to-be captured character's writer gives approval. All non-OPEN threads, combat or otherwise, are death-enabled unless explicitly stated otherwise. The same goes for capture and maim. If your character is killed in a battle between factions or a fight with other characters, you cannot claim that you were Role-Playing a hologram, clone, illusion, apparition or robot unless that was specified before the commencement of the fight. You must inform your opponent of those circumstances prior to beginning the fight and they must agree with them. If they do not, then you must fight as your character.

Subsection L.1: Members who PC's die in battle or skirmishes may finish threads that were started before the character's death date. Members may not post new threads in order to use the deceased character.

Subsection M: Space Battles hold the same parameters as ground battles. Furthermore, technological advantages/disadvantages will not be placed into consideration during the onset of the battle or a review, if the battles reaches the time limit. Instead, battles will focus on strategic and tactical maneuvers and the advantages and disadvantages that stem from each action.

Subsection N: OOC deception will not be tolerated. Lying about circumstances in a thread OOCly will result in consequences. Deception still requires IC reasons. A character or writer cannot be targeted solely for OOC reasons. Exceptions to OOC deception are located in SECTION VII.

Subsection N.1: In addition, killing, attacking or plotting against another character or group must be justifiable in-character. Out of character disagreements or issues are not be be used as in-character justification for attacking a character or member in the RP. Unjustifiable actions of this nature will be voided.

Subsection O: No edits can be made to a character profile AFTER combat has begun in the thread the character is in. An example is adding in weapons and armor after combat is already taking place/first post of combat. This is a very serious breach of rules and will result in a warning first time with serious repercussions like PvP bans or temporary site bans for any repeated offenses.

Subsection P: No one can completely destroy or cause massive destruction on a planet via weapons, unless approved by an administrator. The extent of the damage caused to a planet, generally by orbital bombardment, would be the destruction of someone’s facility or the destruction of a city. Occasional shelling of civilian population centers is allowed, so long as it is cleared by the Staff.

Subsection A: If you wish to create your own PC Organization, you must role-play it’s creation, recruitment of other player characters, acquirement of assets and any other gain in the form of plots. The Organization Leader character must be Level 2 or greater for the PC Organization to be considered for approval. The creation of a PC Organization requires a completed and reviewed plot detailing the creation of the organization.
Subsection A.1: PC Organizations require an approved written submission detailing the intent, purposes, beliefs, assets, etc., of the organization before they can be role-played as an organization. All changes require re-approval. Click this link to review the PC Organization submission guidelines.
Subsection A.2: A Player can only lead one (1) PC Organization.
Subsection A.3: A PC Organization is required to have five (5) members signed-up/committed in character. These members are to remain active.

Subsection B: PC Organizations have a large amount of freedom in where they can exist. PC Organizations can exist either inside of a Main Faction or NPC Organization as a subgroup, or entirely independent of a faction.

Subsection C: PC Organizations start with only the assets of the Player Characters that join. All assets must be gained in threads and plots, which are to be submitted, reviewed and approved before gained assets can be used.

Subsection C.1: The use of PC Organization assets by members of the organization must be approved by the Organization leader and/or the Administration as part of an approved plot.

Subsection D: PC Organizations cannot start with fleets or militaries. Fleets and militaries require an approved, completed, and reviewed plot acquiring such assets. This also applies to any forces that are sold by an organization to someone else. If an organization wants to sell forces to someone else, either the organization or the customer has to request the forces being sold. Fleets and militaries can be retroactively rejected or denied by an administrator.
Subsection D.1: Organization fleets and militaries should be limited to very small numbers and gradually built up over time. You may request more troops when you complete a plot that would gain the organization such assets. Once this has happened, please send a request to the Administration. Keep in mind that your armies and fleets should reflect the size of your Organization.

Subsection E: If you wish to create an NPC Organization, you are required to submit a write-up detailing the intent, purposes, beliefs, assets, etc., of the organization before they can be role-played as an organization. NPC Organizations are not owned by the submitting author, and can be edited by Administration if needed. Click this link to review the NPC Organization submission guidelines
Subsection E.1: NPC Organizations require an approved written submission. All changes require re-approval.
Subsection E.2: An NPC Organization are not required to have members to be approved.

Subsection F: NPC Organizations may start with assets reasonable to the size and type of organization.
Subsection F.1: The use of NPC Organization assets by members of the organization must be approved by the Administration as part of an approved plot.

Subsection G: NPC Organizations may start with fleets and/or militaries reasonable to the size and type of organization. If an Organization wants to sell forces to someone else, either the organization or the customer has to request the forces being sold. Fleets and militaries can be retroactively rejected or denied by an administrator.
Subsection G.1: Organization fleets and militaries should be limited to a reasonable amount for the size and type of organization. You may request more troops when you complete a plot that would gain the organization such assets. Once this has happened, please send a request to the Administration. Keep in mind that armies and fleets should reflect the size and type of the Organization.

Subsection A: Espionage, for the purpose of these rules, is defined as any action undertaken wherein OOC deception or surprise attack is a key end or means of the plot. Such actions include, but are not limited to, spying, assassination, intelligence gathering, bombings, or ambushes.

Subsection B: Before an espionage operation begins, and in order to ensure effective oversight, the person performing the espionage must submit an espionage plot to the Administration in order to ensure effective oversight. These plots will follow the same submission guidelines as standard plots and will be held in confidence by the Administration.

Subsection C: The faction leader (if applicable) of the faction being spied on need not be informed that their faction has a spy in it, nor need they be informed of who the spy is.

Subsection D: Players who are engaged in espionage are not required to tell other players that they are engaged in espionage, even if asked.

Subsection E: Preparation for attacks, assassinations, intelligence gathering, etc. must take place in OPEN/PVP tagged threads, must involve no less than six total posts (OP and 5 replies), and must take place in over a period of no less than 48 hours to allow opportunities for response. The final prep thread before the execution thread happens must be open for a period of 72 hours.

Subsection F: Preparation threads may occur simultaneously, but each PC may only be in one preparation thread per plot at a time. Each thread a PC is participating in must be completed before that PC may join another prep thread.

Subsection G: OPEN threads do not require advertisement as espionage preparation threads. Exchange of information may take place in ASK threads, but no preparation for execution of an attack may take place.

Subsection H: In the aftermath of the espionage operation, the Administration may request links to any and all preparation work performed prior to the execution of the espionage operation.

Subsection I: OOC information may not be used ICly to uncover an individual who is performing espionage or defecting. For example, in the aftermath of an espionage operation, a character is burned when the deceit is discovered ICly.

Subsection J: The Administration retains the right to negate threads and remove spy privileges in the event that site rules are broken. It is not the role of Administration to "babysit" and ensure that plotters have read these rules. Failure to read and follow these rules falls exclusively on the shoulders of the plot executor and failure to comply will result in nullification of the plot.
