SATRAPY MARINE ARMOR

TYPE
Heavy.

COVERAGE
• Head: Front and back of the head and neck.
• Torso: Chest and abdomen.
• Back: Upper and lower back.
• Upper Arms: Front and back of upper arms, shoulders.
• Lower Arms: Hands and forearms.
• Upper Legs: Groin, front and back thighs.
• Lower Legs: Feet and calves, knees.

FUNCTIONS

Function 1: Environmental Filtration Box.
  • A belt or backpack-mounted device which filters environmental and/or weaponize toxins or similar hazards from the air, protecting the wearer; they can also provide up to 4 posting rounds of breathing time in a vacuum or other environment devoid of breathable gas even after filtration. These devices are heavy and bulky, however, and have a large, obvious, vulnerable hose connecting the filtration box to the wearer's helmet or breath mask.
Function 2: Vision Modes.
  • This Allows a Helmet HUD to cycle to low-light and thermal vision modes.
Function 3: Utility HUD
  • Reads atmosphere composition and detects toxins, has also 4x magnifier, rangefinder and compass.
Function 4: Environmental Underlayer
  • While it is not rated for extended exposure to extreme hazards, this underlayer (when incorporated into a full-body suit with an enclosed helmet) can protect the wearer's body from the effects of environmental and weaponized toxins and similar hazards indefinitely, unless torn or otherwise breached. It can also provide protection against a vacuum environment for up to 4 posting rounds, although you will still need a way to breathe. It is not effective against extreme heat or cold.
Function 5: Mag-Boots.
  • Magnetic boots contain electromagnets in the soles and allow for enhanced movement on ferrous surfaces in microgravity or steep gradients. This functionality must be turned on or off manually by a button or switch.

DESCRIPTION
Satrapy Marine Armor is the standard body armor/environmental gear worn by members of the Satrapy Marine Service, the elite frontline troops of the Satrapy of the Frontier Territories. Patterned loosely after the trench armor worn by ancient Tionese infantry in the era of Xim the Despot, it is designed to be sealed against toxic environments, incorporating a robust air scrubber system, radiation shielding and embedded kiirium armor segments to protect vital areas. It can also function as a temporary vac suit, allowing Satrapy Marines to perform boarding operations in space.

Although heavy, bulky and difficult for the average trooper to maneuver in, Satrapy Marine Armor is generally well made despite its archaic appearance, and SMS units are given special instruction on how to move effectively in it. The armor does have certain limitations, notably a lack of peripheral vision due to the two small vision lenses incorporated into the helmet; the hose connecting the integrated breath mask to the backpack-mounted filtration system is also an obvious target for snipers or close-in attacks, although again, SMS troopers are instructed in ways to guard against such attacks.

LEGALITY
Restricted. SMS battle armor is military issue in the Satrapy, and is therefore illegal for civilian use. Other worlds within the Stygian Reaches may place their own limitations in its use as well.

INTENT
To create standard battle armor used by elite troops of the Satrapy of the Frontier Territories.

RESTRICTIONS
Satrapy Marine Armor is only available for use by characters affiliated with the Satrapy of the Frontier Territories, specifically the Satrapy Marine Service. It is not available at all outside the Stygian Reaches unless specially imported.
