She hated being called to tend children.

She kept her head tall, her steps clipped on the duracrete beneath her. She wasn't rattled.

Her hands grasped the handle of her bag all the tighter. But her patience was stretched as thin as wire. She felt like she was about ready to snap, it ached in her neck and shivered down her spine. She ached to have something, someone, some emergency call her right now, or better yet to have something to obliterate the next two days from her memory. Just.. something until she was cool again.

That was when she felt it at the base of her spine, tremoring in the small of her back.

Someone was stalking her. And soon they would be on her back. She gritted her teeth, feeling like she could use a damned good drink right now. She really didn't want to deal with one more mugger right now.

Lori had never been on Coruscant before, so, this trip was a first for her and the ecumenopolis was certainly something else. It felt less like an actual city and more like a vast duracrete jungle, almost like if Ajan Kloss had been frozen and rebuilt with permacrete and durasteel. But, she wasn't there to gawk at the city around her, no, she was there because she had managed to track down a certain doctor that she thought just might be able to help her, and all that she wanted to do was to ask a few questions.

Following behind the woman through the streets of Coruscant she wondered how she'd actually ask her question, just waltz up and ask if she knew anything about Nightmares or recurring ones? No, she'd have to first just get a chance to talk to her.

Though that was currently the hard part, finding a good time to approach her, but so far any opportunity she might have had had been filled with other people, and she was pretty sure that the fact if someone was paying attention to them, might think that she was stalking the woman, which she totally wasn't, but, it might come off that way.

With her resting at the top of her head she picked up her pace slightly, she got closer to the woman until she was close enough to speak up to her. "Uh, Doctor." she spoke up and two quick steps later she spoke again, "Doctor Morata, do you have a moment, Ma'am? I have a few questions, and I was hoping you might be able to help, since, well.... you're a Doctor after all."

She really hoped this was Doctor Morata, and not someone who just happened to look a lot like her.

She gritted her teeth, stopping short and suddenly wheeling around to face the young voice that piped up behind her. She felt a hint of anger frisson in her chest, but immediately shoved it down, smoothing her features into a neutral expression at the young face before her.

So this was her stalker.

Her shoulders dropped minutely as she regarded the girl before her, amber eyes glittering in the ambient streetlight.

...What a pain.

She tilted her head wordlessly towards a cantina, then nodded. It was only when she spoke that the girl would hear the distinct rasp of her voice, her voice as toneless as she could manage.

"
Follow me."

As the Doctor turned around and glared down at her, the anger within her was hard not to sense, it was practically like getting your face blasted by a wave of heat. Swallowing back a quick hello, she instead opted to keep quiet and watch the woman. As she lowered her shoulders and relaxed a bit, it seemed like Lori wouldn't get stabbed, shot or yelled at for approaching her. Instead the Doctor nodded towards a nearby Cantina and told her, in a surprisingly toneless voice to follow her. Nodding she stepped up, slightly behind her to her right, she wasn't sure if she was lucky that she hadn't been shot, stabbed or cussed out in public, but she had some faith in the Doctors of the galaxy, after all, they weren't like they were in holos or stories.

There Doctors worked like they do now, but there were also those who worked closely with Criminal gangs, such as the Black Sun or Crimson Dawn, surely this wasn't something that actually happened, it was just fiction after all.

After a few moments she spoke up, breaking whatever silence may lay between them. "I... uh... know that this might have been... unorthodox. I-I mean, coming up to you like this, I w-wasn't sure how to get a hold of you so I uh... I'll just be quiet for a bit." she said and silenced herself.

She raised a white brow, giving the girl a sardonic stare.

"
No. Say what you came here for. Lucky you, I just left my latest patient." She wasn't going to apologize for her hostility; instead she came out to the bar to leave her order; one virgin cocktail for the kid, a couple fingers' whisky for herself, but bring out the bottle.

She had a feeling she'd need it.

With her order secured, she tilted her head and stalked to a corner booth, sliding in and gesturing for the girl to sit in with her. Chin propped by her curled fist, her deadpan expression unreadable.

"
What did you need me for?"

Lori nodded as she was told to to say what had brought her to the doctor, she tried to figure out a way to put it, but whenever she tried to speak up she just thought it sounded stupid and closed her mouth again, looking a bit puzzled and slightly worried at the same time as she mindlessly followed the doctor into the Cantina. Thankfully the establishment itself wasn't really crammed, probably because of the hour of the day, not everyone had gotten off work yet and those who were around didn't exactly look like they worked a whole lot.

She followed Ilana up to the bar and before she could even ask for a glass of water, the doctor got her a cocktail, thankfully, if she remembered it right, it wasn't one that contained any alcohol. Then they moved once more, following behind the doctor until they sat down in a booth and she asked what it was that she had tracked her down for.

Lori tilted her head back and forth a bit, this was the tough part of trying to explain it, it was something she even struggled to try and explain to herself, but she figured she might as well give it a try. "Well... I... just don't laugh, okay?" she said and took a breath. "I'm having these recurring... nightmares, I think they are, I'm not sure, exactly, but it's almost always the same thing, it's always the same place but occasionally it changes slightly."

She looked down into the liquid in her glass. "The most frequent one is one where I'm landing in a star ship on my old home world and when I get out of the ship the entire settlement is reeking in smoke and I start to struggle to breathe, I run into the settlement to try and find something, or someone, before I just wake up. Then it's like I can almost... smell... the smoke, I think, or at least feel the warmth of the ashes.

Then there's the another one where I am standing in the middle of the settlement, but instead of everything being smoke covered it's all ablaze, and in my hand I have my lights-.... stun baton."
she paused and looked up at the doctor. "I-I'm not asking you to decipher the dreams, I just want them... gone, neither meditation or exhaustion before I sleep seems to help, and I haven't told anyone else yet, I don't want to attract unnecessary attention."

As the girl spoke, the Doctor scrutinized her, eyes narrowed in contemplative thought. When her drink was placed on the table she took a sip, lips pursing slightly. There was a pleasant warmth, that soothed the ache in her throat and softened the edge of the anger that gnawed deep beneath her skin and bones; she could feel it almost as a physical thing, leaving a chilly calm in its' wake. She swallowed, then exhaled.

Dreams. Vivid ones, of repeating nature. Honestly, there was nothing special about it, and she briefly wondered what madness the girl was on. She seemed exhausted, emotionally wrung out... but there was more. Amber eyes glittered speculatively as the girl kept talking.

Dreams didn't just keep you awake. The galaxy was too rough to allow you to lose sleep over a simple nightmare. Which meant it was more than a simple nightmare... and that, perhaps, there was more to this story than the girl was willing to share. But when she mentioned meditation, her eyes flashed. Simple speculation became keen interest, and a finger curled on her chin as she bent as though to contemplate more deeply.

"
There are no drugs that can help with dreams." She stated this simply, taking another gulp. When she swallowed, she sighed, uncrossing her arms to prop her elbows on the table, giving her a direct, flat stare. "However, hypnosis has some credibility... how often do you wake feeling exhausted, every morning?" She tilted her head, fingers lacing together. "I need to know, if you want your... unique case... to improve."

The girl was young, yet seemed like she wasn't alone. Aloneness was like a universal marker; she seemed as unhardened as a newborn. But equally, she seemed to not be willing to burden those that she surrounded herself with... which could mean many things. One of which was she didn't wish to worry anyone. Or that her dreams were more than dreams... and she was so eager to understand what they were.

Finally, an interesting case to diagnose.
