"I am afraid that I do not really know how to do anything with the Force, no one has ever shown me. I did not even know I could jump like that until just now. But I will try," he nodded his head.

Turning to look at one of the chairs lining the room, he reached out him thoughts, felt as if he was grasping the chair, and pulled towards him, willing the chair to be at his feet. For a moment nothing happened, but then the chair shuddered and fell over, towards him. Encouraged, Tarvik pulled harder, and the chair began, at first, to drag itself across the floor, but soon it lifted from the floor, and seemed to levitate towards him, coming to a gentle rest on it's side at his feet. Determined to continue this, Tarvik then tried to push the chair, his mind thrusting it away, and sure enough, the chair leapt into the air, flying across the room.

"I was... easier the second time," he told his master, hoping this was normal. He stopped for a moment to consider her question. "I want to defend people, I want to save people from violence and harm."

((I am so sorry about the absence))

:: For supposedly not knowing anything, you're off to a great start, :: she said, nodding in approval. :: Defending people.. I see, solving problems in a non-violent way as long as possible, right? Though there will be times you will have to get violent, but it is admirable to want to hone the period before that. I see. You do realize what you must know to do so, correct? You must learn negotiation, a very draining thing in this bureaucratic galaxy, and you also must learn how to defend yourself without harming the opponent for as long as possible. This is a lot harder than being a soldier. Do you have that kind of patience? :: she asked, watching his facial expressions carefully.

((No worries, I'm not in a hurry))

Tarvik bowed his head in acknowledgement of his master's praise. He listened to her, and knew that she was preparing him for what could be, to many, quite a shock. He had heard tell of the difficulties of diplomacy, of the intracacies of negotiating, and yet he still knew that he wanted to pursue it. He had to admit though, at least to himself, that he hoped he would have call to learn and use a lightsaber. Not that he had any wish for violence, but he just found the weapon and it's use so pleasant and artful.

"I understand. I cannot claim to have the patience, I don't know if anyone can without having attempted it. But I do know I will try my best, and I will commit myself to it."

:: I know you will, Tarvik, I know you will. You seem like the intense, committed type, :: she smiled approvingly at him, happy that he was willing to take on this hard facet of life. :: And don't worry, that doesn't mean you won't get to train with the battlemaster, :: she said as she began to think. She wasn't quite sure what to do next, so she tried to just try whatever came to her head next... which was nothing. :: Um... what would you like to star with? And that includes lightsaber building, if you want. You're call. ::

Tarvik hardly had to consider the question before he knew what he wanted. "I would like to construct my own lightsaber."

He was curious just how mystical and in depth the creation of lightsaber was. He had never seen one before, and as far as he knew only the Jedi and the Sith had them, let alone used them, so there was obviously something secretive or arcane in their construction. Idly he wondered how the different colours were created.

:: All right. Besides being technical, this is going to be a test in concentration and other skills, but I believe you to be up to it, :: she smiled as she went over in her mind how to go about this. :: Hm. Have you a crystal? ::

Until that moment, Tarvik honestly didn't know that lightsabers used crystals, so he simply shook his head. Wondering if the crystals affected the colour of the lightsaber's blade, Tarvik asked, "What determines what colour a Jedi's lightsaber is? I have heard that red is the hue of the Sith, do different Jedi have different colours?"

She took on a quick sheepish expression at her oversight before she clarified, :: Sorry, I forgot you didn't know. Um, a lightsaber has at least two crystals in it: the primary crystal and the focusing crystal. There can be more, but that is the least. The most efficient have three, two focusing and one primary, as it makes it a bit more fine and sturdy - if one gets a bit out of line, the other makes up for it - as well as making it a bit more energy efficient. It is also the minimum base for waterproof lightsabers. The primary crystal is what gives the lightsaber its color. Generally, it is stereotyped that Jedi have green and blue lightsabers, and the Sith have red. While Jedi can have red, and Sith can have blue or green, that is what is generalized. In reality, whatever color you like can be the base for your lightsaber, though some of the more orthodox here might look at you funny if you chose red. Just a warning, :: she grinned at him before crossing her arms relaxedly. ::So, do you have any crystals? If you do, I'll have to look over them to see if they are suitable for a lightsaber, or, you can research and figure it out for yourself. Your call on that. ::

Tarvik listened intently, finding an intense interest in such simple things. He caught his fascination with the weapon, and realized that it was more than just idle conversation and polite interest, he had a genuine affection for the lightsaber. He wondered if that was unhealthy.

"I have no crystals, but I can find some if you wish."

She shook he head, :: No, we are going to find some. That will be our first mission together. Okay, what color would you like? That helps to decide where to go, :: she asked, tentatively.
