Titles of

Achievement

Titles are different than ranks in that they are earned by character’s actions when they “take up the Mantle”, or go undercover as a Shadow Conclave agent, in threads. While none of the titles are exclusive and multiple people can earn multiple titles, only one can be worked towards in a single thread (ie, you can’t try getting multiple titles by fulfilling the requirements in just one thread). These threads also do not need to be in consecutive order.

There are two “levels” of each title: Adept and Master. Upon achieving two Master level titles, your character is eligible to either command a capital ship or own a safehouse.

Specter: Complete two threads without being detected by opposition. Note: there must be an actual opposition in the thread. You can still qualify even if your companions are seen.
Artful Dodger: Remain undetected for a total of five. You are unmatched in your stealth and a true friend of the shadows.

Assassin: Successfully kill two Marked targets.
Reaper: Complete five Oblation of Ash contracts. People tremble in fear at the sound of your name, and none shall escape your blade.

Chronicler: Secure highly valuable information or artifacts in two threads.
Curator: Obtain information and/or artifacts of importance in five successful threads. You are the shield that protects the galaxy from things too dangerous for it to know.

Pickpocket: Steal objects of worth in two threads.
Master Thief: Swipe valuable items in five threads. You are the master magician of making things disappear.

Evangelist: Recruit two new members into the faction.
Shepherd: Recruit five new members. You gather the lost and bring them into the fold, giving them purpose.

The Mantle

The Mk. IV Obscurus, or “The Mantle”, is a set of pre-packaged armour useable exclusively by Shadow Conclave members, created with ease of use and versatility in mind while allowing the Conclave to mass-produce it with minimal cost. The suit of armor is designed to be as customizable as possible, allowing the user to optimize the amount of protection and gear for the mission at hand.

The suit is primarily comprised of an Armourweave and Nomex bodyglove/flightsuit for basic protection. It also comes standard with an adjustable Armourweave hooded cloak interwoven with Scatterweave. The armour plates are made from Armorplast and are coated in Scatterweave. All three variants have armour plates protecting the front and back of the torso, with a flak-resistant vest underneath. The medium variant has added leg and arm plates, and the heavy version is upgraded with full body coverage.

Logically, the Light and Medium variants offer the highest mobility, whereas the Heavy configuration provides the most protection at the cost of movement. In addition, Force Users are unable to utilize the suit’s Functions.

Stats

Type: Medium Armor. Plates can be added or removed to make it Light or Heavy.

Heavy Blasters: 1 shot on plates (2 for Heavy variant).

Blasters: 2 shots on plates (3 for Heavy variant).

Vibroblades: 2 strikes on plates (3 for Heavy variant).

Lightsabers: Zero protection on standard issue.

Explosives: Shrapnel resistance on the torso. 30 seconds of gel-based flame resistance.

Functions

Function 1: Integrated Heads-up Display (All variants)
  • The Mantle’s HUD provides its user with an internal compass, temperature and environmental readouts, thermal and night vision optimization, and a built-in voice modulator. The wrist attachment can also be controlled via voice commands.
Function 2: Wrist Weapon Hardpoint (Medium/Heavy variants only)
  • The left or right wrist can be equipped with one of a wide variety of weapons and tools, including a wristblade, whipcord, flamethrower, foam sprayer, blaster, or missile launcher.
Function 3: Mobility Optimization (Medium/Heavy variants only)
  • The medium and heavy Mantle configurations are capable of being equipped with one method of greater mobility, including a jetpack, rocket boots, mag-boots, or repulsorboots.
Function 4: Open Function (Heavy variant only)
  • The Heavy configuration has one additional open Function slot. It could be used to add either more anti-vacuum protection or a secondary gauntlet hardpoint, with all the same options as the first.

The Deacon

Residing in a secluded alleyway in a corner of the Underworld of Denon is a reclusive man, clad entirely in dark robes and armour. His head is covered, and his armour is devoid of any insignia, save for a single ashen rose emblazoned on his cloak. At his side he carries a sheathed blade and blaster, but what would draw the eye of an onlooker is far more intriguing: a large, thick satchel, practically stuffed full with reams of parchment. Upon close observation, one would see that there are hundreds of copies of a single page, the letters within all hand-written in ink with the finest care. In a small compartment in the satchel are various tools: some feather quills, two compact inkwells (one filled with ink, and the other completely empty), and a small, razor-sharp knife.

Though from his voice, one would know that he is a fairly elderly man, but the Deacon must not be underestimated. Only the most senior and experienced assassins of the Shadow Conclave are selected for this honourable position; even the Reclusiarchs have the greatest respect for the Deacon. In truth, nobody knows how old the man actually is - all they know is that he has been there for as long as anyone can remember. Though the Deacon is highly skilled, in the event that he comes under attack, his directive is to flee, instead using his advanced training to ensure his escape to safety.

His task is fairly simple: to peddle the Oblations of Ash, the contracts the Conclave forms with outsiders to have its warriors seek out and slay a designated target. This duty is unique, in that it is the only position where a member of the Conclave is permitted to wear the insignia of the Ashen Rose on their Mantle, and thus reveal their presence and allegiance.

In the event that he is asked about acceptance into the Shadow Conclave, the Deacon will merely state that it is not his place to decide admittance, and then cease further discussion of the subject. If he happens to see a promising individual, he may potentially mention their name to the faction, but this is not commonly how members will be accepted.

If a person approaches him and requests to formally meet with a representative of the Shadow Conclave or wishes to send a message to the faction, the Deacon will relay this information on their behalf.

❖ ❖ ❖

Should someone wish to form a contract ICly, they will first have to find the Deacon in his abode on Denon. Then, they must provide the funds necessary, and sign the Oblation of Ash in their own blood. This does not necessarily need to be roleplayed out, but can be if so desired. To form a contract OOCly, please do so in this thread.

Factional Relations

Note: the only public knowledge about the Shadow Conclave is that they are secretive, dangerous, and effective, and that they have a strange blood-ritual regarding their contract system. Everything else must be based on assumptions and rumours unless proven otherwise.

Jedi Order - Unfavourable
While the Conclave has not had any extensive dealings with the Jedi, their capture of Shae Vis has put them on bad terms with her husband, General Corvo Vis.

Empire - Negative
The Empire’s domination over most of the galaxy makes it the Conclave’s primary target. The balance of power must be maintained.

Mandalorian Dominion - Neutral
Besides a single contract on one of its members, the Conclave has not dealt with the Dominion at this time.

Void Serpents - Neutral
As of now, the Shadow Conclave has not had any dealings with the Void Serpents.

Paladins of Mortis - Neutral
The Paladins and the Conclave have not interacted as of yet.

Kjlljk Protectorate - Neutral
This faction’s quick expansion has been noted, but there has been zero contact as of this time.

GALAF - Neutral
GALAF’s ties to the Accord and the Republic remnants has been noted, but zero contact has been made yet.

Guardian - Neutral
Guardian’s connection to the old Republic has also been noted, but no contact has been attempted.

❖ ❖ ❖
Reshekki/Myrkr - Very Good
The Conclave has established a very good working relationship with the Reshekki. Because of this, they have a much greater access to Scatterweave than usual.

Muun/The Banking Clans/Mygeeto - Good
In order to set up a Monastery-fortress on Mygeeto, the Conclave has built a solid relationship with its inhabitants.

Key Locations

None of the Conclave’s safehouses or listening posts have the coordinates to any of the other key locations or to the faction’s fleet. Every NPC that inhabits these locations is considered owned by the Shadow Conclave.

Fortress-Monasteries

Secure, fortified, and hidden, Fortress-monasteries are large bunkers that can house the faction’s active agents at any given time. Several hundred staff also reside in these locations.

The Iron Temple

Myrkr

The Iron Temple is the official home base of the Shadow Conclave apart from the Majula. When its members require a place to call home besides the faction’s roaming fleet, this is where they gather. It boasts a vast library, beautiful interior architecture, a sizeable hangar bay, and enough room to comfortably house most of the faction’s members. The Temple is expertly hidden deep in the jungles of Myrkr, and is built very securely, capable of defending against a sustained assault for an extended period of time with its thick, reinforced walls and hidden array of heavy laser and ion cannons. It contains a Vault at its center.

The Cauldron

Mygeeto

One of the Conclave’s most secure locations, the Cauldron is buried deep below the icy surface of Mygeeto. Its walls are doubly thick to defend against both sustained assault and the icy cold atmosphere of the planet, and lining its ramparts is an array of heavy laser and ion cannons. It has a sizeable hangar bay and is very spacious. The Cauldron has a Vault at its core.

Safehouses

Smaller but better-hidden, these establishments provide Conclave operatives a safe location to rest and stock up on necessary supplies.

The Cradle

Serenno

Underneath Duke Shiro Blagden’s personal, private estate is a very small safehouse reserved for Shadow Conclave members. The location has limited hangar space, and is only to be used as a short pit-stop.

Listening Posts

These fortifications are the smallest of them all, but provide the Conclave with a steady stream of information from the surrounding sectors of space.

The Black Garden

The Moons of Iego

The Black Garden is one of the smaller safehouses owned by the Conclave, as its purpose is to observe. It is a secret listening post operated by a small number of staff, their duty to lay low and watch the corner of space they are stationed in.

The main reason for its name is due to the high number of Ashen Roses that grow on the moons of Iego, which the Conclave harvests frequently to use in its contract and death rituals.

The Fleet

Serving as the Shadow Conclave’s mobile base of operations, the Fleet is constantly on the move, travelling to where it is needed most in the galaxy.

tumblr_mj9q3jDEBK1r5ajivo1_1280.jpg

The Majula

Yhorm-class Light Carrier

The Conclave’s primary base besides the Iron Temple, the Majula has a sizeable hangar bay and a large number of living quarters, able to comfortably house the faction’s active members. The ship does not ever stay in one location for long, and it usually maintains orbit nearby asteroid fields and other uninhabited, low-traffic locales.

While the Majula does have the locations to all the Conclave’s bases logged, it has protocols to destroy this evidence should the ship be compromised. It also has a Vault on board.

Settlements

The Conclave also has a large civilian population, most of which live in these city-like closed communities. The largest of these are situated on Hoth, Mimban, and Obroa-skai; these three locations also each house one of the three Shards of Vhoro.

me-andromeda-background-3.jpg

Vaults

The Shadow Conclave keeps all its top-secret information, artifacts, and other items of importance in three separate high-security locations called Vaults. These three Vaults are constructed in such a way that they each only contain a third of the total sensitive information held by the faction. Should one of the Vaults suddenly be lost, the other two can reconstruct the missing data from built-in redundancies.

These Vaults have specific criteria that must be met to be accessed. Only the Reclusiarch can gain access on his own. Otherwise, it can only be opened by two high-ranking Pontiffs or Apostles, and they must request permission to do so. Each Vault uses a powerful genetic scanner to affirm the identity of the person accessing it. In addition, only those permitted access into the Vaults are allowed to know that they exist.

Each Vault is built extremely thick, with layers upon layers of starship-grade armour plating and EMP-resistant materials. Should the Vault be breached forcibly or without access granted, it will instantly delete all digital data and simultaneously detonate multiple Baradium bombs inside the vault to destroy any physical data and artifacts.

The Vein

In order to keep their communications network entirely secure, the Conclave has created a complex encryption system that runs beneath regular comms buoys that run across the galaxy, referring to it as ‘the Vein’.

A number of locations previously owned by the Conclave remain scattered across the galaxy, previously under the faction’s wing but now lost through the passing of time since their previous golden age.

Ranking Hierarchy

tumblr_o7308pgrwd1uufoudo1_500.jpg

Reclusiarch

The Reclusiarch is the leader of the Shadow Conclave, the one who is in charge of the faction’s movement and actions. Though every Reclusiarch must listen to the council of those beneath them, they have the ultimate final say in important decisions.

The position of Reclusiarch is one of great responsibility, as it symbolically represents the culmination of military strategist, wise advocate, and ritual exemplar. Such a position demands being beyond reproach or taint - otherwise, they bring shame upon both themselves and the Conclave as a whole.

tumblr_nzbankYtSm1r426wco1_500.jpg

Pontiff

Pontiffs are the military leaders of the Shadow Conclave, overseeing the faction’s tactical maneuvers and serving as primary strategic advisors to the Reclusiarch in matters of war and conflict.

Disciples earn this position through prowess in combat and unswerving loyalty to the faction and its goals.

2dd2225ced4dfc57e8fbe55eeda6561b.jpg

Apostle

While they technically hold the same degree of authority as the Pontiffs, Apostles provide more of a conciliatory role, acting as sage advisors and upholders of the faction’s traditions.

Apostles are elected when the member has shown not only loyalty to the faction, but also great knowledge and wisdom.

tumblr_nxxasbBZov1skf43ko1_500.jpg

Disciple

The Disciples are the mainstays of the Shadow Conclave, making up the majority of the faction’s membership. Whenever a skilled individual is accepted into the faction, they are automatically given this rank, and all Neophytes graduate to this position when their training is complete.

While not holding as much authority as Pontiff or Apostle, the Disciples are not to be underestimated - they are highly capable and extremely deadly, with potential in each of them to become something far greater.

cyber_ninja_by_shanku.jpg

Neophyte

Neophytes are the lowest rank in the order below Disciples, and are only sent out on very basic and non-critical missions. They are Disciples-in-training - all people that grow up in the Conclave’s residences go through this rank. However, not every Neophyte is young, as this position is determined by skill, not age.

For OOC reasons, this rank is for experienced RPers who do not mind playing their character with a lower skill level. Keep in mind, however, that your character will likely be barred from some missions.

Rituals and Culture

Rituals

Last Rites

When an agent has slain a Marked target, it is their duty to set alight an Ashen Rose and lay it on (or near) the deceased, thus claiming the kill for the Shadow Conclave.

❖ ❖ ❖

Admittance Ceremony

Whenever a new member is accepted into the Conclave, they are brought to the ritual shrine that exists in every safehouse called the “Sanctuary”. In the center of the room is a coiled sword thrust into an unlit bonfire. After the new member(s) have sworn allegiance, the bonfire is then lit.

❖ ❖ ❖

Culture

To be expanded upon.

Ashen Roses

f8d5778f07feaa8e23d9d4cc2f57e09f.jpg

The Ashen Rose is a very common variety of flower. Though it was originally native to the moons of Iego, it can be found across the galaxy in all but the most harsh climates due to its natural tenacity.

A not very well-known feature of the Ashen Rose is what happens when it catches on fire. Instead of burning away rapidly like a normal plant would, the petals instead contain the heat, creating a beautiful singed ember effect that lasts for 1-2 hours. However, the flower dies in this process.

roseash2.jpg

In addition, the petals cannot be used for any kind of flame-retardant material, and they do nothing to stop fire from spreading.
