I thought KOTOR was brilliant, both games. I know most favor the first but I favor neither more than the other. It all came full square in the end. The character development was stellar (I like this word, "stellar") and it kind of set the stage for the character development to follow in future BioWare games (I know KOTOR 2 was Obsidian but still it had good chars). Dragon Age, Mass Effect--great char (I like this word, "char") development. And the humor! KOTOR had its fair share of humor amid the dark and dreary scope of its darkness and its dreariness, I think.

I hope they do KOTOR III and name it after me. If not, I will make my own KOTOR and call it "Knights of the Old Reporter", a game by Heston-Indigo. In it, you take control of Heston-Indigo, a reporter for the Death Star Times, who seeks to uncover a conspiracy to destroy the galaxy, using a toothbrush (to do the reporting; not to actually destroy the galaxy), and also to uncover a Twi'lek's bosom. Hm.

Personally, I find KOTOR and KOTOR 2 equals in different capacity. They are both great stories, though they present different types of experiences and viewpoints. While KOTOR 1 is much more.... I don't want to say simple (As younger me flipped out over the 'Revan Twist' even though looking back now some of Vrook's comments are the story equivalent of a huge neon sign over your head xD) but much more traditional I think. While KOTOR 2 dealt with a LOT of interesting nuances we never really considered in Star Wars, such as GO-TO at one point basically telling you that after all the wars and stuff, people couldn't really tell the jedi and Sith apart and really all they cared about/needed was some Force-centered religious organization around to instill SOME sort of order in the galaxy at the time. Which, by comparison to 99% of other Star Wars media, is a complete heel-turn of thought. (Jedi=Good, Sith=Bad)

I do have to add in, about Dragon Age very quickly, I absolutely LOVED Origins. As much as I love both KOTOR games. I also enjoyed Mass Effect, albeit to a lesser extent. Now it's a rather commonly accepted opinion at DA 2 is the worst of the series, and while not necessarily a bad game on it's own, I do want to express a bit of... shell shock perhaps? I had over a mechanic that changed between DAO and DA 2. The convo wheel. Now, as previously stated, I enjoy Mass Effect a LOT. However, I HATE having the conversation wheel now in Dragon Age games. Hell between DA 2 and DAI I can't tell you how many times the VERY brief snippets or gists each section gives you on the convo wheel were insufficient and while the gist text made the response sound one way, the character reacted a completely different way from what I expected after it was selected. Meanwhile, I don't at all mind the convo wheel in ME. Which I have come to recognize as I bit of the aforementioned shell-shock over them switching from a completely laid-out, voiceless text of what exactly my character was saying, to a voiced, sometimes-misinterpreted convo wheel. Where, without the little symbols telling you this is "Grrrr" "Hahaha" or "Awww" there honestly seems to be a crap-shoot with your character's emotions with each response.

Anyways! For all of you mentioning Obsidian! They have a new cRPG out called Tyranny and if you have not heard of it yet I would suggest looking it up. Cheers all!
