EQUIPMENT

DESCRIPTION
The Starrunner-class transport is a model of transport which was once manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Considered archaic in the present day, the Starrunner shares a design lineage with the CR90 corvette, but is considerably smaller and much less heavily armed. Though quite old, Starrunners can still be found in some parts of the Galaxy, although they have been out of production by CEC since the Galactic Civil War. Several smaller starship manufacturers continue to produce ships and components under license for regional markets, however.

The Starrunner, compared to modern freighters, is nothing special. Operating by a crew of 2 and able to carry 6 additional passengers, it has a cargo capacity of 75 tons and is 31 meters in length. Performance is comparable to later CEC models, with a top speed of 50 MGLT and a class 2 hyperdrive. Armament consists of 2 fixed medium laser cannons, with a medium deflector screen generator for defense. Though not as modular as the later CEC models, the Starrunner was considered to be exceptionally easy to modify for its time, and continues to be well regarded on the aftermarket scene.

Starrunners, notably, are well equipped to carry external loads, with brackets and hard-points on their upper hull. They remain a popular choice for shipping bulky, awkwardly shaped cargo.

Despite their by now considerable age, the durability, reliability and versatility of the Starrunner has kept it in production and service all the way to the present day in some parts of the Galaxy. Although it has mostly disappeared from main hyperlanes, the type can still be found in backrocket sectors and systems.

LEGALITY
Legal. Light freighters such as the Starrunner are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard civilian transport.
