Dude, you do realize you're an ensign, right? If you joined the STC, you'd be a TIE pilot, not a demolition and heavy weapon specialist.

Um, yeah, it does. Ground troopers are army, starting with private. Ensigns are navy, as are the ranks of captain, commodore, admiral, etc. ; ergo, they operate in space, not planetside.
