It was pretty cool, though I have no idea what the story is here.

meh.

I'm a big fan of the SWTOR origin story, but lost interest in this game after KOTFE. The trailer was good though.

It was pretty cool, though I have no idea what the story is here.
Basically the older woman is the mother and the girl is the daughter who is very powerful in the Force. The dude with the beard is the father, who is actually possessed by the former Sith Emperor. Mother tries to run away with daughter, but she goes back to her father instead and grows up to be an OP death god just like him.

That duel with the lightsaber pike is so kickass.

Senya's duel with the guardsmen was excellent: her saber hilt extending and retracting was a cool touch that made the fight really unique. Also loved the lighting in that scene. As a cinematic, I'd expect nothing less from The Old Republic.

However, I have mixed feelings about how Knights of the Fallen Empire turned out and I'm not really expecting Knights of the Eternal Throne to fix those flaws. Namely, how the player's choices have a limited impact on the progression of the story. I thought getting points with the Republic soldier in Chapter 1 was going to change how I can deal with him later. And that much was correct when I found him later for two conversation options. Except he never, ever appeared again in the two play throughs I've done of the story, though both were admittedly leaning light sided (one pure light and one gray but good-intentioned). I've never seen the Imperial soldier that accompanied the Republic soldier from what I scoured, but likely trying to gain points with the Imp is also moot for the same reason. Even the chapter that has more than a few resemblances to Luke's training in Dagobah, and presented some spiritual/philosophical choices that affect how you construct your weapon for the final battle, ultimately didn't mean anything for your character: it only hinted what I can only presume will be a future plot point that is unavoidable. I was able to complete the final chapter without even needing that story-specific weapon with the exact same results as using it (tried it in the aforementioned two play throughs). There are many more instances in KotFE where your choice meant nothing.

There are some details cause significant changes, such as your relationship with Koth Vortana leading to a revised cliffhanging conclusion to KotFE (which really only affected the details and not the actual progression of the grand plot), but there is hardly any illusion of choice overall. The only noticeable difference is if you're a nice person or if you're an asshole, which causes the main characters around you to remember your past actions and respond to your dialogue accordingly. Knights of the Fallen Empire started out strong for the initial 9 chapters and fell off really hard. I wouldn't be surprised if KotET follows that same pattern.

Where KotET can easily improve, though, is making the gameplay actually fun. It's really saddening for me that I found the conversations and cutscenes more enjoyable than actually playing the game. The actual combat in between the cutscene dialogue was incredibly boring, including the boss fights. The final confrontation of KotFE was the only fight that was fun to play.

If Bioware stopped making Star Wars video games today and focused on a movie or tv show...the world would be a better place.

Right so....I know nothing about this, the game was repetitive when I tried it and the art design was too Pixar for my tastes, although SOME stories here and there had interesting touches.

Forgetting the fact that NOTHING in this looked like the Star Wars I know, that fight choreography with the lightsaber (and even the touches to the lightsaber itself), I really fucking liked, simply because of how tactical, believable and realistic the flow of the fight was. Nothing about it was repetitive, it was dynamic and it made sense and was fueled very clearly, by emotion.

Which is more than I can say for most.

I'm at chapter 10 of KOTFE and I really miss my old crew. Looking forward to reuniting with the wife (Vette) and I've already given 2V-R8 a cold glare because he was being a bitch behind my back, but where are the others? Apparently KOTET doesn't bring the missing companions back, which sucks. I wann know what happened to Jaesa, Malavai, Pierce etc.

Still at least Devilakks gets his wifey back.

KOTET doesn't bring back any new companions, but there are some companions that do come back in KOTFE's Alliance Alert mission set, like Pierce.
