So I am heading out in a couple of hours to the midnight showing GMT of EP7 like the geek I am and am pretty stocked. As I will be getting in at like 3:30 in the morning I thought I would get the majority of my post done now ready to edit after I viewed it and I wanted to see what everyone else's thoughts where as well.

Of Course Spoilers.

Countdown: 3 Hours 42 Minutes!

Loved it, epic star fighter stuff which is always a plus and I loved Finn and Rei. I loved the humour that was scattered throughout too, the little bits that happened in between important events really helped me to warm up to the characters. The only thing I can say that I kind of didn't like about it was the plot structure was pretty much the same as episode IV, which isn't exactly a bad thing but it probably could have been a bit more original (JJ was probably just playing it safe, and I don't blame him he had a massive job to do and he did it well.)

@Marf, well I'm waiting until after Christmas as well.

I don't want none of that opening day madness. I'm a fan, just not enough of one to elbow my way through a crowd of Stormtroopers and Kylo Rens to see it.

Just got back from the movie theater. I seem to be in the minority but I was pretty disappointed. I'm tired but tomorrow I'll make a post with an actual analysis of all the things I found problematic.

The only explanation that suits how I felt is the clouds opening up and the sounds of an angel choir singing ringing through my ears. I love Episode 7 so much

I have to say... I really enjoyed this film. I had some issues, and it was clear they were on a time limit in some spots, but JJ and Disney made what I think is the best Star Wars film since "Return of the Jedi".

Loved the movie. Just got out. It wasn't perfect but none of the movies are. You need a novel to really dive into the story like we might like. I think it was fantastic in any case. Not cheesy, not CGI overdone, and good characters.

I saw it last night, and I have to say it was brilliant. I'll do a full review in a spoiler tab in a bit here.

Well, here goes - firstly of course:

SPOILERS

Having watched the film yesterday, in a cinema packed with people with braids, lightsabers, and a female Han Solo - the hype was palpable in the cinema, and naturally there was a polite English silence when the 'Star Wars' opening crawl played. One person clapped, and was hushed with speed.

Overall it was very good film, but as far as a Good Star Wars film goes, I cannot rank it until I have seen the rest of the trilogy. There where some good points, and some bad, so I am going to break them down for people.

New Characters
All-in-all the new characters I liked, it is a great cast for future movie. However I am currently disappointed with Captain Phasma, who didn't really do anything in that film bar walking. Kylo Ren of course was a fantastic villain, and I liked him a great deal - and look forward to seeing where the story goes with him.

Old Characters
Han Solo has long been one of my favorite characters, and when I take the Orig Trig on its own, he is the best in my eyes. And, Harrison Ford doesn't let us down in this film either, easily putting on the best performance of his career. The fact he was 'back to what he was good at', aka: Smuggling, made for one of the best scenes in the film, that to me felt like I was watching a thread on here.

The scene on the ship was fantastic, and so Han Solo! Two groups having tracked him down, and then him being saved by sheer luck!

Princess Liea suddenly got bad-ass.

Story Line
On reflection it was basically 'A New Hope' but with inflatable bread. I liked it sure, but when they said 'We can hit the thermal port' a bit of me died. I mean, really? We have done this before people! Still, it is a tried and tested formula, and it worked so.....get over it Norbs!

It was a good story, the but with a lot of lose ends that need to be tied off in the next two films, so I reserve judgement til then.

Han Solo
I actually let out a whimper of 'No!' when he died. We could see it coming a mile-off but part of me was thinking 'He always gets out of things like this!'. There was an audible intake of breath, and I could see people flinching when it happened, and whilst I was (and still am) devastated that he died, it was a fantastic way for him to go.

Theory Time!
Now, throughout the film I was looking for hints, and I love trying to make ideas of why people are, and what may happen next. So I thought I would share some here:

Snoke, who is he?: There are several options here, new character, or Darth Plageous. I was him to be DP, and it makes sense to me for him to be! I know I will be dissappointed however, and it will be a unique character.

Rey Skywalker?: Don't deny it, you thought it was well, Rey is totally Lukes Daughter.

Calrissian: This is my inner fan-fic guy speaking, but I would love for Fin to be Landos kid. 'We are altering the deal, pray I do not alter it any further' from Ep V could work here, Vader tacking Landos kid as payment for something!

All in all, good film, and I am watching it again this weekend. Loved the new ships, and Storm-Troopers just got awesome!

8/10, higher rating dependent on the next two films.

I just saw it and I loved it. I don't think anything I have to say is spoiler-worthy, but I'll put it in spoiler tags just in case. And hell, maybe I will say some spoiler stuff just to make the tags worthy of being there.

My one complaint is that the movie was very safe. That said, I completely understand why it was safe, since no one wants to be known as the director that fucked up Star Wars. I think my favourite thing was how Kylo Ren was portrayed. The simple act of having him remove his mask suddenly transformed him from a faceless, evil monster into an actual person. I loved everything about how he was handled.

Everything else? I really liked it, but I don't really want to say too much until the others are out and I can view the trilogy as a complete story. Saying too much now just feels like judging an incomplete story. I do hope this movie was more of a "See? I can make a good Star Wars movie" kind of thing and the others won't be so safe, though.
