Magos Otahn may be a Guardian of the Eternal, but he was still a Numerologist. The force worked through numbers, he believed, and there was truth to reading them. As such he maintained a small Fortune Tellers Shop in Theed, the capital of his homeworld, Naboo. It had all the curtains and plasma balls one would expect, and his uncommon opening of it usually drew a stir.

Judging those who came through not only allowed him to practice his art, but it let him read the force signatures of those who came through, potentially finding new recruits for the Sith Eternal.

He lit his incense and set the door to open. A holoprojector out front advertised him as "Free", something that always helped attract new clients. He really didn't do this for the money. The location just above the starport also helped. He declined in his seat, and waited to see what sort of characters would enter into his sanctum.

This was Ember's first time on Naboo. It was an interesting place, very green. Her own homeworld of Coruscant was all metal and buildings. Ember couldn't help but be impressed by the beauty of the city, and the surrounding greenery. She had stopped on a bridge overlooking a river. Theed is just a small rest stop while she went about her other business. Everyone once in a while, she needed to get out of her ship and just walk around.

Ember started walking back towards the starport, mentally planning her next destination. Maybe she'd go somewhere dry, like Tatooine. Seeing those suns set would certainly be beautiful.

Ember suddenly stopped in front of a small shop. She felt, something, but she wasn't sure exactly what it was. 'A fortune-teller?' Ember thought, confused as to why this shop gave her that strange feeling. 'It not like I have anywhere else to be and it's free, might as well check it out.' Ember did a quick check of her lightsaber, ensuring that it was well hidden.

Walking inside, Ember saw a male Gungan relaxing in a chair. "Hey there!" Ember said in a cheery voice. "Is this the place for a free fortune?" Ember said, smiling at the man. Ember took in the incense around her, as she waited for her response.

It did not take long for his first client, to arrive, and what an interesting client she was! Strong in the Force for sure, strong but under control. A Jedi or some other trained user? He smiled as a human woman entered into his shop. He replied to her greeting, "Welcome, welcome! Yes, this most certainly is the place! Brother Force has a plan in mind for all of us, and I am quite good at translating it. Sit, sit, stay a while!" He warmly motioned toward the stool across from his. He pulled an archaic abacus across the table and reset the beads. "Now, have you heard of Chandrillan Numerology? It's my specialty. As I said before Brother Force loves hiding meanings behind names and dates and values. All we have to do is look for them. To begin, why don't we calculate your birth name, as it hides much significance."

'What a strange man this is' Ember thought. Her curiosity spiked at the mention of Brother Force. 'Perhaps this is what I felt, maybe the force wants me here.' Ember smiled politely and took the stool across from the Gungan.

Ember hadn't heard of Chandrillain Numberolgoy before, but that didn't matter. She was curious about this supposed hidden meaning behind her birth name. 'Did he just say birth name?' She thought, alarmed. Ember was sure this man didn't know her birth name, how could he?

Concern on her face, Ember tilted her head, asking "I gave up my birth name long ago, it holds no value or meaning to me now. I choose Ember Blaze for myself, perhaps that has some hidden meaning?" Ember was concerned, and excited, about what 'Brother Force', had in store for her.

Magos was surprised to hear that this woman has abandoned her birth name, but it was not his first time hearing such a statement. He never understood why someone would abandon something so precious, unless the Force willed it. To chose one's own name was a display of power, and he respected that. "Sincerest apologies, I meant no offense by my asking." He really didn't. "I must say, to chose one's own name, and leave behind that of there very identity is a bold move, one of power. Your chosen name will do fine, assuming it is truly your truest name. Correct if I miss the spelling."

Beginning at the top of the abacus he pulled beads across for each letter in the name 'Ember Blaze'. He gently hummed and old Gungan chant as he pulled the counters along. Upon finishing, he looked up and told warmly told her what he had ascertained. "Thirty-Six, the value of your name is Thirty-Six. I was right to think Brother Force has you wrapped around his finger. Or maybe you have him wrapped around yours. It could be either, and both usually present the same." He paused a moment for a potential reply before continuing.

'A power move? I've been called cowardly for changing my name, insulted and belittled for it. But a power move? Just who is this Gungan?' Ember thought, increasingly confused.

"Thirty-six? That's a good number right?" Ember said to the man. "What does Brother Force have in store for me?" Ember was increasingly curious, perhaps this fortune teller could help her find the goal she had been looking for.

He continued. "36 is 27's younger sister, not that that likely means much to you. And yes, it is a very good number. Just as to be expected it is a number of power, power reached through intellect. Your mind will be your strength. You will have your way, so long as you trust your mind, not your base impulses. However, it has a more sorrowful side. The three within it is a sign of impulsiveness, and the six is a sign of regret. At some point in your life, be it past or present or future, you will commit a grave act without thinking. This will spurn you toward the intellectual power I mentioned before. You shall be a sage, if you follow the will of Brother Force."

He reached out a four fingered hand and set it on the very edge of her sleeve. Pyschometric images flashed before him simultaneously: Sitting in a pilots chair, laying on a ship head floor, stuffed in a closet, baked in desert heat, damp with sweat, tumbled in a sonic washer, lit by a sabers yellow glow. He was right, a Jedi. Poor soul, he thought, trapped in an unnatural force tradition. How he would like to explain the natural way to her, but he knew that would reveal the Sith Eternal.

He just as quickly pulled the hand off, careful to never actually touch her arm in the process. Magos grabbed the incense stick, and flipped it around into it's Sandy base, extinguishing it. He hoped to make it clear that he was no longer reading numbers. He looked at her and said in the same warm tone, "Jedi, no? Could tell the moment you got to the front door. In another life I'd be on the first ship to Ajan Kloss, but know that you are not the only force tradition in the Galaxy. Brother Force has many children, many disciples, many traditions, and I too am one of his. Keep your eyes open and learn from all views, dogma is a dangerous thing." Magos walked over to a kettle and flicked it on. "Now, Master Jedi, can I interest you in Gurja Root Tea? Business is slow today, but it's the Queen and her court who pay my bills."

Ember sat and listened to the Gungan fortune teller. She had never been one to believe in such things before becoming a Jedi, and now she was much more open to it. This Gungan was good, he guessed a few things correctly. Ember did act impulsively, and she was still full of regret.

The man stretched out his arm and touched her sleeve. She felt that something again, but she was still unable to place it. After he pulled away and stood, he said something that made her previous feelings make sense. He was not Jedi, but he followed some force tradition. 'I wonder if I can get any more information from him about his tradition.' She thought, thinking back to the man she encountered on Coruscant.

"Thank you for your words, I will keep my eyes open, and learn from others." Ember said, standing up and bowing. She placed a few cred sticks on the table, intending them for the man. "Perhaps instead of tea, you could tell me more about your own force tradition. You are not the first I have met that followed a different path. I wonder if you followed the same path as the one I met, or another altogether?" Ember politely said. She stood behind her chair, waiting for the Gungan's next move. 'Maybe I'll ask for some of that tea if this goes well, it smells delicious.' she thought, eyeing the tea.

Magos, thought for a bit on how to keep the Cult of the Eternal hidden, while still opening Ember's eyes to the true nature of the Force. He turned back to her and told what he hoped was a white lie, "Im a bit of a special case," he chuckled a bit, "I began my studies alongside the Dagoyan Order of Bardotta. Their people and mine have a long history together. I traveled there as a young man, as soon as I realised I was force sensitive. They thought me the art of Pyschometry, and this reality of Brother Force: there is no duality, no equal light and dark, only the Force." That was a very Xendorian way of describing the Force, but it might be applied to the Dagoyan too.

He flicked of the kettle and poured tea into two cups, knowing full well that the woman would inevitably ask for some. "I have since returned home and now I use my talents to help any who need me, and to advise the Queen of this world. I hope I have done so for you. Now, why don't you tell me a bit about Ajan Kloss, I've never been there before. My Bardottan friends are no friends of the Jedi, but I'm sure I could learn something from your Order. " This part was not a lie, he genuinely respected, and pitied, the Jedi. He took a long sip of the tea, letting it's warm, bitter flavor wash over his mouth and warm his throat. He slid the over cup towards her. Most humans, or at least Naboo, were not found of the drinks taste, he hoped a Jedi would be more refined.

"I will admit, I've been starting to believe that you are right, there is only the Force. What I learned as a Jedi is fairly basic, at its core. We are to strive for balance in all aspects of our lives." Ember said. She knew she got one step closer to uncovering who these other factions of the Force are. She had a name. "Ajan Kloss is a beautiful planet, it brought me peace and I will always be grateful to the Jedi for that. Perhaps you may one day find your way there." Ember said a small grin on her face.

Ember took the tea, saying "Thank you for this, it smells delicious." She took a sip of the warm tea, savoring its bitter flavors. Continuing, Ember said "I met someone in my travels that had a different view of the Force than my own. I believe our differences stemmed from our approaches to handling problems, but our goals were similar. Since then, I have not been able to shake the feeling that my views on the Force, the Light Side, is simply just one aspect of the Force. If we, as Jedi, are supposed to strive for balance, shouldn't we strive for balance in the force as well?"

She took another sip of her tea, deciding to pause for the Gungan to respond. Ember sat, waiting, feeling in the Force for answers, for the truth of the Force.

Magos inwardly smiled. Maybe this poor soul wasn't as much of a lost soul as he thought. He still would not reveal the Cult of the Eternal, but he hoped to continue down this path of discussion. He knew where to go with this.

"Absolutely, though I disagree with your way of viewing that balance. My problem with the Jedi and their 'Light Side' is this: it is ... unnatural. You seek to access Brother Force by emptying oneself of emotions. You call those who use their passions to call upon him 'Dark Siders' and view them as intrinsically evil. We are *not* droids." He paused here to take a sip of tea and telekinetically flip the kettle back on. "It is our very emotions that make us sentient. They drive us to do good. When you see a child in a burning building, or watch a thug shake down a poor widow, it is your emotions that call upon your action. We must have compassion for the people of the Galaxy, not cold detachment. We must defend the weak, and love them." He felt a familiar yellow warmth in his eyes. "If my philosophy makes me some sort of evil doer by embracing my feelings than slap me in binders and drag me away! Love is the way to goodness, not repression!"

He realised he went a bit to far. He stood up and walked to the kettle and poured more tea in his mug. Without looking back: "Forgive me Master Jedi, what place does a limping fortune teller have to question your path. Your way has defender the Galaxy for millennia, while I am merely a Dagoyan drop out." He wished he could speak openly, to bring her into the freeing Shadow of the Eternal. But he couldn't. All he could do was plant seeds of compassion. He turned back to her, "I do hope I haven't offended you, Master Jedi. But please take heed of my earlier warning, do not let your dogma enslave you. Brother Force is more than a simple duality. I know the risks of my path, I hope you can find those on yours." He sat back down, waiting for a reaction from his new friend.

Ember listened intently as the Gungan in front of her discuss the Jedi. 'Emptying our selves of emotions?' Ember thought. She knew the Jedi of Old followed such teachings, but she was not trained that way. She waited for the Gungan to finish speaking, nodding along as he called himself a limping fortune teller and repeated his warnings.

She watched him for a few moments as she contemplated what to say next. "When I was trained as a Jedi, we were not taught to rid ourselves of our emotions." 'Emotion, yet peace.' "Our emotions are not sins or something to be rid of. We are trained to embrace our emotions, but we must also strive to not let them control us or our actions." Ember said, wondering who he heard about the Jedi from.

Continuing her train of thought, Ember said "It is the same with passion. I was not taught to fear it or hide from it. I learned that, as a Jedi, I must be able to govern my passions, and not allow those passions to govern me." 'Passion, yet Serenity.' "In the end, it is about balance. Jedi still feel emotions, and still have passions. We just do not let them dictate our actions." Ember said, eying the man curiously.

"I am starting to suspect that you are not merely a limping fortune teller as you so claim. But, I shall heed your warning all the same. If you could indulge me, where did you hear about the Jedi?" she asked of the man. Ember was not sure she would get a truthful response, but she knew she had to try. Ember took another sip of her drink and waited.

Magos felt the passion burn out from him. He sighed. He knew he had lost the upper hand. He had rarely spoken to a Jedi, as his Cult was want to avoid them. Many of his fellow Guardians still spoke of the Jedi in terms of "Jedi of Old' and his studies almost exclusively dealt with them. He looked back at her. "You are right about that, Master Jedi, I am more than just a limping fortune teller," he slid his leg a bit under the table, feeling the reassuring weight of his saber, deeply tucked in his robes. "I know most of my knowledge of your Order from ancient texts and histories," Magos continued, "And I have been taught with something of a biased view." He thought for a moment of trepidation, on whether now was time to confide in this woman. Her words rang true in his ears, and it scared him.

He looked up at her and used the force to close the blinds. He would not reveal the Cult, but this woman spoke wisdom and he needed to learn from her. He began with slight trepidation, "I know, you know that the Dagoyan Order bit was a lie. Forgive me for it. And forgive me too for misjudging your philosophy. But I know for a fact that Brother Force brought you to my shop for a reason foretold in the date." He reached into his robes and pulled out his light saber. The unlit, curved hilt shone warmly in the dim rooms artificial light. "Master Jedi, as I said before, Brother Force has many children, many disciples and I am one of them. Mine Order is secret, and I will tell you no more of it, not even its name, for we would be unable to do our good works if we lost the mask of anonymity. But the passionate serenity you speak of? I am intrigued. I ... want to learn more of it." He shuttered a bit and drank a sip of his tea.

The feeling of controlled fire came to his senses. This Ember Blaze claimed she could tamper her passions, but still harness their strength. A feeling came over him like a cool breeze, his thoughts became giddy. The Jedi were not who they once were, it was as if they had learned from his gods, the Old Sith, and now followed their noble teachings. If one could yolk their passions like a meeked stallion, what power they'd achieve! "Passion, yet Serenity; Emotion, yet Peace. Tell me how such opposites can coexist." If this woman really was destined to be a mighty sage, she might as well start by enlightening him.

‘A lightsaber?’ Ember tried to think through the confusion. “You have a lightsaber!” She said, excited that she was right.

I apologize for my excitement, I haven’t met many outside the Order with a lightsaber. And no offense was taken by the lie, in truth I was excited to have a name to the other factions of the Force.” Ember said, smiling. She knew this was a golden opportunity to share information about the Force with others that followed a different path. She intended to take it.

It is only fair that I tell you I also was taught a biased view of those who do not follow the Light side of the Force. There is a fear of the Dark side that many Jedi hold. Given the histories you may have read, I’m sure you can understand why.” She said. Ember knew she was getting herself excited, but this was an exciting time.

I can understand you wishing to keep your Order secret, I am sure you have those that you wish to protect as well. I am intrested in knowing it, but I shall not push you on the subject.” Ember said, understanding showing on her face.

Before I tell you about how the opposites co-exists, I think it will be helpful to tell you a bit about my past.” She said, looking away from him. “When I was younger, I was a criminal. I stole, I hurt, and I killed those who I needed to. I lived only for myself, to satisfy my wants and desires. To put it another way, I was being controlled by my emotions, and guided by my passions.” She said, regret showing plainly on her face.

Then one day, I thought I killed someone. They were young, barely old enough for the security officer position, and they were innocent in my eyes. The guilt of what I had done drove me to the Jedi. Through many years of training, I was able to come to terms with myself and what happened.” Emebr said, pausing. She looked back at her new friend, hoping she could explain this next point to him.

I was full of emotions, yet I found peace with the Jedi. My passions ruled me, yet now I have serenity. In order for each to coexist, you must find a balance between them. I feel my emotions, and I can feel them deeply sometimes. I find the balance and peace not by abandoning my emotions, but by feeling them and understanding them.” Ember said, thinking back to her own training on Ajan Kloss.

Passions and serenity are the similar. I understand my passions, I just no longer let them guide my decisions.” Ember did not know if her words would help her friend, but it was the best she could do for him here. She sat back in her own chair, grasping her drink. She inspected the lightsaber while listening to his response.

Magos listened intently. He knew this act was anathema, turning to a Jedi for knowledge, but she spoke truth. Passion is power, and the controlled pick drives further than the blunt hammer. He wanted to learn this. He needed to learn this.If the Jedi had changed and perfected their order, was he right to truly be recreating a dead one?

This woman too believed she was a murderer, and of an innocent, not a stagnant crime boss like he. There was hope and redemption in her eyes, and peace, such great peace. But, he was not willing to turn his back on the cult. He could change them, from the inside, and bring the fresh air of her teachings. Was not Peace the end goal of their objective? o bring flourishing by burning the chaff. But do not gentle blooms come from the pruning shears?

She finished speaking. He looked her in the eyes, and a shiver went down his spine. How this meeting had turned on its head! How great and terribly so. "Master Jedi, teach me more, how does one achieve such control? I desire to be at peace." He felt a surge of guilt and terror wash over him. His fellow Eternals would run him through for such heresy! He continued, "Such power could come from such direction. To use your passions and not be used by them. Where do I begin?" His mind raced, his gut churned; surely this was the woman driving him to such heresy by dominating him through Brother Force.

This was a twisted path he was treading upon, one fraught with danger, to himself and to those he served with in the Eternal. He wasn't going to make the plunge uninformed.

Ember watched as a mix of emotions ran over the Gungan's face. 'Guilt? Terror?' she thought, confused. 'I wonder what I said that could possibly make him feel those emotions.' Ember paused before speaking, taking the time to look around the room again. Turning back to the Gungan, she said "If you truly wish to know how to achieve such control, there are better people to learn it from than myself. The Jedi Masters back on Ajan Kloss would be the ones you would want to seek out. There is only so much that I can teach you."

"However, if you do not wish to go meet with one of the Jedi Masters, then the best advice I can give you is to look at your actions and reflect on what drove you to make them. Ask yourself, did my passion make me do this or was it my choice?" Ember said, unsure she could properly explain this. "If it was passion, then focus on ensuring your passions do not dictate your actions. It is a daily thing, and something that I believe every Jedi struggles with from time to time." Pausing, Emberconsidered the events of today. She felt that she could trust this Gungan, maybe not with her life, but enough that she was willing to help him. "Please know that if you ever wish to join the Jedi, you can reach out to me and I will assist in any way I can." she said, sincerely hoping he would take her offer.

"Weird." He said while looking at the 'free' sign over the fortune teller's shop. The gentle Naboo breeze rustled around his hood that was pulled over his helmet. The edges of the cloak fluttered and then settled.

The cloak did not keep him hidden from view. It did keep people from directly staring at his helmet. Mandalorians were seldom seen and when they were, they usually were bounty hunters. At times there were benefits to being seen as dangerous.

For now, he was waiting on his ship to get patched up after he ended up hitting a swarm of the local fauna on entry. Thankfully nobody had seen it.

When he walked in he heard the words "master jedi" and he had a newfound curiosity. Then again, a fortune teller's shop was probably a weird place to begin with. The Mandalorian would continue to stand inside the shop and listen as the covert Guardian and the talkative Knight conversed. Ajan Kloss, yeah, she's a jedi. What's he though? His eyes looked at the saber the Gungan displayed.

The Jedi Order were peacekeepers, allegedly. Roland was more open minded than most of his Mandalorian comrades. He gave everyone an opportunity if he could. But the Ranger was still wary of the religious group. For now he politly stood back and analyzed the so-called fortune telling. He found it odd that a jedi would come seeking divination considering their own abilities. It was like watching a chef going through drive through take out.
