'I'll try not to get hit then,' he said with a grin. 'And have I ever fought with a sword before? Yes, I have. But it was uncontrolled slashing and cutting. I reckon it didn't look very pretty. I had no choice, though, my revolvers were out of reach and the vibrosword was my only option. I lost that duel...' His grin turned into a smile.

He expected a sword duel now. He already knew that if he had to duel Astraia, he would lose miserably. He just wasn't a swordsman, at least... not yet. But he wanted to learn. He really wanted to learn. He didn't ask what would happen next, though, but instead decided to be patient.

Being patient was important... he'd learned that the hard way.

"Hmm...well, I suppose I should teach you some stuff then"

She stood in one fluid motion and walked over to a cabinet. The doors open, she reached inside and came out with two bow staffs. They were about 6 feet long.

"Fighting with a lightsaber won't teach you the proper technique. It will teach you how to avoid it, yes, but not how to use it"

She waited for him to stand then threw him one of the staffs.

"The point is to stop me"

With that she lunged at him with the staff coming down from above.

While Astraia walked over to the cabinet, Dustin rose to his feet, slowly. His hat was in his right hand, but he quickly put it aside. He wanted to remove the holsters of his revolvers as well, but then Astraia already turned around holding two staffs.

Then she threw him a staff. Instantly he reached out with his right hand and snatched it out of the air. Tap! He got a strong grip on the staff.

So the point was to try to stop her? He didn't think that'd be too hard. He fixed his pale blue eyes on her, like a wolf staring at its prey, waiting for it to move. His eyes seemed to posses a strange glow, but that might have been just the sunlight that fell into this room through the big window.

Then she struck. His reaction was very fast. As fast as he'd drawn his guns. He raised the staff and heard the sound of two staffs colliding only moments later. Her slash was quite strong, it surprised him a tad, although he didn't show it. So she was pretty, slender and strong, apparantly. Yet he got the feeling she was only just getting started, and the bruises would come soon.

But there was determination in his eyes, yes there was. He was determined to show her what he was capable of, and that he was willing to do what she asked of him. He'd acknowledged her as his trainer.

He had blocked it! Astraia wanted to give him a huge hug for not being completely incompetent. Good, she thought, he could do something! She felt bad for thinking that, but she had been beginning to wonder what Kalen had seen in him.

"Good"

She said quickly before lifting her staff, spinning around in a circle to her right and bringing her staff towards his right leg on her way back around.

Down, right... NOW! he thought to himself. Damn, sounds like dancing moves...

Dustin quickly held the staff in front of his right leg, and the following moment Astraia's bounced off of his. He wasn't quite sure if he'd be able to defeat her in a real duel, but he thought he'd be able to do this. He was fast, and he had strong arms... and the eyes of a gunslinger. Even in a 'spar' like this, having the eyes of a gunslinger was a great advantage.

But Astraia had the eyes of a Shade Master. That was probably even better...

The difference in their eyes was that Astraia could not shoot a gun to safe her life. If she had to then it would probably go way off target. She was Force and lightsaber gal, after all.

She did not attack again. Instead she stood the staff vertically and leaned against it.

"Not too shabby. Let's go"

With that, she was gathering her bag and walking out the door.

Dustin was a bit surprised at first. He thought there would be more attacking, but apparently, Astraia thought this was enough. The tall guy nodded to his trainer, and then went to grab his hat. He put it onto his head, and then fetched his coat and bag off the floor as well. He carried his coat over his shoulder and carried his bag in his left hand. In his right hand the staff.

'Excuse me, Astraia, but is there a room where I can leave my belongings? I'd rather not drag them around, you see...' he asked politely. Maybe too polite. He just wasn't sure how to talk to her. She was a council member after all.

He was so cute when he spoke. It actually drove her a little crazy, but she liked it. She had no idea where they were headed to at the moment so it wouldn't hurt to show him to his room. Unfortunately for her, their rooms were right down the hall from each other. He was new and all the other quarters were taken.

"Sure, why not. Follow me"

She took a turn and headed down a hallway then another turn and another. It was only a few more feet and she was opening the door to his new quarters.

"Here is your room"

Did she tell him that she was a few doors down? No, probably for the better.

'Thank you,' Dustin said, tipping his hat as he stepped into his new room.

It wasn't that big, but as he wouldn't be sharing his room with someone else, he thought it was big enough. There was a bed in the far left corner, a table, a closet and a few other unimportant things. Dustin smiled, this was actually the first real 'home' he had in years.

He walked over to the bed, set his bag on it and then folded up his coat quickly and placed it right next to the bag. For a moment he considered leaving his revolvers in the room, but thought he might need them for something during the training.

'Astraia? Do I need to bring these?' he asked, pointing at his guns. 'Else I would rather leave them here as well.'

Astraia had gotten lost in her own thoughts when she heard her name.

"Huh? Yeah, sorry, bring them. I do not want you getting killed"

She waited for him to be ready then headed out of his room. Her staff was in her right hand as she walked and thought. She had no idea where they were headed, but she did not want to sit in a training room all day.

Dustin smiled faintly under his hat. He grabbed his staff and then followed Astraia out of the room. He wondered what they were going to do now. He wondered what the training would be like. He looked through the corridor and then turned to Astraia.

'Excuse me... I... I have a question,' he said. He looked at her curiously with his pale-blue eyes. He took off his hat, because he thought it'd be rude to wear a hat while asking questions. 'Have you ever fought a Jedi? Uhm... Dark Jedi, I mean. I mean, a serious fight... to the death? I realize it might be kind of a weird question, but... I was just wondering...'

Was it rude to ask a Council Member that? He wasn't sure. He just asked, without really thinking. He just wondered what Astraia had been through, what a Shade went through...
