So you've managed to find a holocron, hidden far away on Moraband. Congratulations. I am Darth Kravos, first Dark Lord of the Sith and husband to Andraste, first Empress of the Sith. Within this holocron, you will find secrets of the Sith and powers that extend beyond what you could possibly imagine.

The Dark Side of the Force is the pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. If you've arrived here and made it past the traps and hazards I designed then you are resourceful and capable. Perhaps you will go somewhere or perhaps you will fall like so many before you have. This is a tool, but only you can use it to rise.

I won't bother with the more mundane uses of the Dark Side. Lightning, horror, and other commonplace abilities you could learn from any Master are a waste of my time. What I am here to teach you are the more arcane, secret, and unknown powers that the Dark Side can unlock for you. These are the things that will distinguish you from the masses.

Interested? Of course you are. Let's begin.

Entry 1: The Dark Side of the Force

If you've managed to open this holocron, then you already know the power of the Dark Side. It is a source of power without parallel, capable of bringing destruction to entire planets. It is the ability to rule the galaxy and the power that allowed the Empress to rise and gain control of the entire galaxy. However, it presents dangers and hazards to those who use it. The same destructive nature that allows you to control others can easily control you if you let it. There is no task more difficult than to keep it at bay. The one who allows violence and bloodshed to rule their entire existence is the one who is no longer the ruler, but the ruled. Temper yourself even in the darkness.

To truly grow in the darkness, you must put aside your past life. Who you were before you embraced the Dark Side will always try to drag you back. You must be willing to sacrifice those you love and care about if you want to fully realize the power you can obtain. For this reason, it is difficult - approaching impossible - to maintain relationships with others.

Hatred can easily grow to consume you, and while this is a risk, this is also what allows you to harness the darkness to its fullest extent. Loss is one of the most terrible feelings in the galaxy, and it can also be used to drive the darkness inside of you. It is an incredible source of power.

There is still danger to come. A galaxy ruled by the darkness is kept in check now only by the strength of the Drasts and the commitment to one another. I foresee a time many years from now when that strength will have waned, the loyalty of family will have dissipated, and infighting will threaten to shred the Empire. This is the power and also the danger of the Dark Side: the strong consume the weak. There will never be another day where the Council is as strong as it was under Andraste: The Eternal, Leviticus, myself, and formerly Evandrus represent an incredible knowledge of the Force. With the death of the High Judge, I fear that decline may already be at hand. Time will tell, but the dynasty will remain strong for many years to come.

Entry 2: Force of Will

This is what you're here for, though, is it not? The secrets of the Dark Side that can be learned. Abilities lost to the rest of the galaxy from a time when the Dark Side ruled with a strength that was unquestioned and insurmountable.

As is the Dark Side's nature, it corrupts what already exits. There was a technique once taught to the Jedi known as Immunity. Those who practiced it were able to take the Force and create a fortress within their minds. It was purely defensive, but that didn't suit me as the Dark Lord, so I designed Force of Will.

As a man with the secrets of the entire Empire, it was imperative that I protect my mind and the things I had learned if I was ever captured. Through extensive meditation, I turned my mind from a fortress to a maze. Those who looked inside my mind would find no trouble entering, but would find it impossible to exit. Even if the attacker was of incredible power, they could easily find their minds permanently trapped without any means of escape.

So how does one accomplish this? That's what you want to know, isn't it? It is easiest to accomplish if you travel to a nexus of the Dark Side and slide into deep meditation. You must become intimately familiar with every corner of your mind, confronting even the darkest and most terrifying corners. Once you have done this, you set up barriers within your mind at unexpected points. The same way you would defend yourself from the assault of an opponent, you trap your opponent within the maze. Finding your way in is simple, but escaping is impossible. Even when under assault from multiple opponents, you can trap many if not all of them.

Of course, this requires a level of power and knowledge of one's mind that I've never seen outside of the Council. I suspect attempting it with anything less than an incredible understanding of the Force would result in failure.

Entry 3: Teleportation

While assisting Evandrus with his conquest of Lothal, I came face to face with a manifestation of the Light. A Jedi Councilor I had known in a former life who had more power than your typical Jedi. She had the ability to warp herself from one place to another, traveling through the Force itself.

It was something I'd never thought to do before, but after some thoughts, I realized how she'd done it. The Force binds us all together, and in order to move from one place to another, you must find a way to push yourself into the Force. A rift typically appears as a pillar of black smoke and nearly rips the fabric of the universe apart in a way. Passing through this rift can place you in another place you envision. The greater the distance, the more exhausting.

Of course, I don't need to tell you how dangerous this can be, but it has many uses. While a swift getaway is difficult due to the obvious smoke that the doorway emits, it can be used to move yourself past security, quickly close in on unsuspecting enemies, and still sometimes even use it for a getaway.

More creatively, the ability can be used to move other things and people. When I was fighting alongside Evandrus, we used it to bring down a very powerful prey. I created a rift and Evandrus forced her through it and away from her power base. We were able to move on her from there and eliminate her.

Entry 4: Abominations

Perhaps nothing that I worked on was more disdained by the Empress than the abomination program. For years, these creatures were used by the Exiles as a work force to pulverize planets, murder populations, and spread across entire systems. Over time, with the fall of the Exile Warlords from their places of power, the secrets of abominations were all but lost.

That was until I found them again. Warlord Satara had been expanding her knowledge and had managed to create a few before she was killed. The Empress and I traveled to her old facility and recovered her research. Evandrus and I recreated the first of the creatures. With his death, I believe that makes me the sole individual in the galaxy who knows how to create and manipulate the ancient monsters.

The larger the beast, the more power required, but even the most simple of them are difficult to create and maintain. Twisting it into a monster that can kill is easier than making something you can control. You have to imprint on their mind, like a mother animal. They'll follow an Alpha, the strongest among them, but if you lose control, they'll be as dangerous to you as your enemy.

Although I never had to use them, I'd recommend being very wary of where you let them loose. Not only is it dangerous, it's also detrimental to your reputation. Maintaining a galaxy through fear is effective, but controlling your narrative can be equally as important.

Entry 5: The Mantle of Dark Lord

Dark Lord of the Sith is a title of prestige second only to the Empress herself. To be the Dark Lord is to be the chief executor of the Empire and its first enforcer. The role carries responsibility and power that is almost unparalleled, but to be successful is no simple task. While the Empress sets the goals and objectives of the Empire, it is the Dark Lord's responsibility to see it through.

This can take many forms, and it is the responsibility of the Dark Lord to choose the best means and see them through. As the head of the Sith Council, the Dark Lord must determine who is the best to lead delicate operations or bring the Empire's hammer to bear against its outspoken enemies. It also falls to the Dark Lord to discipline members of the Council when they err from the path.

Because of this precarious roll of discipliner and enforcer, the Dark Lord must be capable of holding his ground in combat against even the most deadly warriors the Empire has to offer. It can be assumed that any sign of weakness will be exploited by those beneath you who seek to move up the ladder. Everyone in the Empire will envy your position, and the Dark Side will whisper in their ear of betraying you. Fear is a powerful tool that must be wielded with efficiency.

To be successful as Dark Lord, you need to have your first devotion to the Empire itself. Like a father devoted to his child, you must be willing to sacrifice of yourself and others in order to ensure the Empire's continued success. Your goal is not to be liked but to be feared and respected. Threats must be dealt with swiftly and decisively because they will always threaten to bring the Empire down under its own weight. It is your responsibility to ensure that does not happen.

The Dark Lord is the right hand of the Empress, but should never overextend his reach. It is her role to be the decision-maker and set the direction of the Empire. To overreach is to undermine the Empress herself. The Dark Lord is a means of seeing those ends achieved, not the maker of policy.

Entry 6: Sith Spirits

For all of my research into the Dark Side and death, some of it finally paid off. The greatest of the Jedi Masters found a way to rip themselves from the Force and project their consciousness into our realm. From everything I have learned, this appears to be unique only to the Light Side of the Force. I discovered a cave on Korriban that had an ancient spirit bound to it, but it wasn't the same. She was more abomination than spirit, and as it turned out, there was no way to turn oneself into something like that and maintain what you actually are.

What I did discover was that the Dark Side allows a being to bind themselves to a place or object. A mask or helmet, for instance. Speaking across the worlds is more difficult, but seems possible. However, I don't believe that it is possible to become a spirit as the Jedi Masters did.

Not all hope is lost. Either before or briefly after death, a powerful Dark Sider can bind themselves to an object as I said. Delving into your own mind can allow you to peel off a small portion of yourself and stick it to an object. I have done just this with my holocron, and when I lay it to rest in my tomb, I will remain to stand watch over my body in one form or another. Though I can never project myself into this world, we will see what power I have in death.

Entry 7:The Conclusion

This holocron contains some of the most useful information I have discovered in my rise through the ranks of the Empire. I have created an elaborate tomb that will contain my knowledge in this device, and one day my remains. If you've found this device, then you've passed these trials where many others have no doubt been killed. Those trials existed so that no one who is unworthy would obtain this information.

I hope that you are worthy. The Empire will continue to grow and develop in the coming years and whoever finds this may one day become a more powerful Dark Lord than I. Build on what you have learned here to strengthen the Empire and take up my mantle.

You have the tools to become an influential and powerful Sith Lord. I hope you will not squander them. If you don't take advantage of what you have, another will seize it out from under you. Your blood will run and your name will soon be forgotten. The Dark Side favors the powerful, but also the cunning. Never forget that.
