Alright you mixed bunch of people you... It's resistance time! Basically this is in response to the Republican loss of Bothawui, and consists of making Hutt lives hell until they give up and leave. Fo' sho'.

The idea is that during the retreat from Bothawui, many Republic ground troops (and other personnel) would have been abandoned by the fleeing navy, stranded at evac points and waiting for the transports that would never come while the Hutts advanced upon them.

Obviously most of them will have been killed/captured, as is the norm when a defeated army's troops are bracketed and trying desperately to flee the field of battle. Some will have escaped this fate, though, and in Bothawui's case at least have begun a campaign of guerilla warfare, forming an underground resistance against the occupancy.

IC this consists of what I hope to turn into a series of mission threads in which members of the resistance risk life and limb to disrupt Hutt activities, distribute counter-propaganda and even assassinate military/political figureheads. They aim to get noticed, to give the Bothans hope and the knowledge that the Republic is still fighting for them, no matter how long the odds.

Your character doesn't have to have been in the Bothawui battle threads to participate in this, they may have not been on the frontline during the fighting or they may even have been on Bothawui on other business when the attack happened. It's up to you and as long as your reasoning is sound I'm not going to rain on your parade.

Depending on interest I'll start either one or two threads tonight or tomorrow morning.

FOR THE REPUBLIC! :CHappy

EDIT: Any preferences for the first one or two missions? I was thinking of maybe some counter propaganda distribution, or disruption of supply lines to the occupancies forces. Also, this thread (on that page, scroll up) has a useful summary of the occupation thus far, courtesy of Santoro. It makes for good reading if you want in.

You know, I've been toying with putting ex-Senator Karla Brushai into this. Would be an interesting plot development for her, especially how she isn't actually doing anything.

I'll repost it here. If there's any gaps feel free to ask and I'll address it.

Occupation of Bothawui

Political Presence:
The political structure of Bothawui (as far as lawmaking and enforcement go) have remained largely untouched, encouraging as little a change of pace to the everyday citizen. Police officers and public service positions have been allowed to keep their jobs, pay, and benefits: however, all laws must pass through Hutt Overseer scrutiny to ensure no foul play. Above the Overseers is a single, system wide governor who responds only to the Emperor.
Propaganda is in place for the Hutt Empire in the form of posters, holovids, and acts of goodwill, with frequent monetary donations to charities, political candidates, and public benefit.

Military Presence:
Despite the ‘hands off’ policy of the political presence, military presence is high. Multiple military bases have been founded near major cities, with the Hutt soldiers patrolling the streets along with the police force. Citizens and travelers must pass through system, planetary, and local customs scans including a full background check and identification scan. This has greatly slowed interplanetary travel, but the Hutts see it as a reasonable trade off for their long-term presence in system.
Punishment for breaking federal laws has increased. Although the Hutts have made a valiant attempt at the roll of benevolent overlords, there is a zero tolerance policy for dissention or rebellion. Prisoners are loaded onto prison ships and brought to prison planets far from home.
As the Hutts intend for Bothawui to serve as a launching ground for further assaults on the Mid Rim, a high volume of warships pass through the system, turning it into a makeshift fortress.

Colonies and Immigration:
To further integrate Hutt and Bothan culture, several new cities have been founded across the system. Using immigrants from all over Hutt Space, these beings bring a diverse and new angle to the once Bothan-exclusive planet, but most importantly it brings an Imperial loyalty to the system.
Along with Hutt-aligned colonies, a mass entry of pre-approved immigrants flocked to the major cities, doing their best to integrate into the Bothan lifestyle. These citizens are mainly loyal to the Hutt Empire in a further attempt by the Emperor at long-term integration.

Shipyards
The Bothan Shipyards have been repaired and are operating at full capacity, producing once-exclusive Republic warships using designs found in the databanks. These new ships are flown back to Hutt Space for reasons unknown.

Weapon Control
Weapons have not been confiscated, although a planetary registry has been put in place- all firearms must be recorded with the Hutt Empire. Failure to comply results in immediate imprisonment. Further weapons sales have a twenty percent increase in taxes to deter rebellion.

Sales Tax
In effort to curb the debt inflicted by occupation, a one percent sales tax has been put on all transactions.

Quarantine
Unfortunately, the Hutt Navy bars trade and Republic military vessels to and from Republic space. Trade vessels are redirected with Bothan companies ‘encouraged’ to trade only with the Hutt Empire. Personal travel is allowed with Hutt assigned custom papers and passports on a case-by-case basis.

Further Occupation
Despite capture of the major cities, the Hutts are actively scouring Bothawui in search of evasive rebel cells. Entire Battlegroups and Squadrons have been dedicated to the hunt, operating out of the freshly established military bases and using the best specialists drawn from Hutt Space.

It'll take a bit to get PCs in there (wasn't sure how the thread would play out), give me a day or so.

I will be in with Hiachi since he was on the ground battle, and he is not the kind of guy to retreat and leave allies behind. :p

Wonderful, I take it you all want in on the first thread which makes four of us. I think that's enough, if we get any more interest I'll start up another. Obviously, you can join the resistance and opt out of the first thread if you want ^_^
