For thousands of years the Jedi Order existed, weak and crippled by compassion and a misplaced sense of duty to the lesser beings of the galaxy. The galaxy displayed a fake respect of the Jedi while galactic governments used them towards their own ends as peacekeepers and mediators in their struggles. But a few ambitious and insightful Jedi recognized the full potential an Order could be, the potential to bring absolute peace and prosperity to the galaxy through the power given to them by the Force.

Delving deep into the mysteries of the Force, these Jedi abandoned all restraint. This action uncovered a deeper understanding of the Force and unfathomable power. Through their studies, they learned that a Jedi could tap into their less savory emotions, drawing on their fear, anger, and pain to manipulate the Force in ways that to their knowledge had never been done. With true power at their fingertips, these wayward Jedi grew powerful, seeking to twist the very essence of life itself to their command using this Dark Side of the Force.

The Jedi grew fearful of these powerful individuals, deeming them Dark Jedi and conspiring against them. Afraid of their potential, the Jedi gathered in secret, deciding to cast out that which they feared. And so they, along with every one of their disciples, were herded onto ships and exiled to the far Southern Outer Rim. This was a mistake that would shake the galaxy to its very foundation. In their weakness, the Jedi removed the only thing preventing the now exiled Jedi from reaching their full potential — oversight.

Free from the prying eyes of the Jedi Order, the Jedi Exiles continued their innovation in the Dark Side of the Force in earnest. The denizens of the Southern Outer Rim were their test subjects, abject to the merciless experiments of the Exiles. Their bodies and minds were twisted into obedient beasts, weapons to one day carry out the Exiles vengeance on the Jedi Order. Vast armies of subservient abominations, drug-addled slave soldiers, mindless war droids, powerful dark side adepts, and heartless mercenaries and pirates were raised to ravage the Outer Rim. These armies were commanded by the most powerful Exiles, who proclaimed themselves as Lords over their servants and slaves, superior to all who they deemed lesser than them.

Invasion

The Exiles had a singular goal: revenge. They did not conquer and build empires, instead leaving only a burning and broken Southern Outer Rim in their wake as their armies advanced towards the Republic. Delighting in the slaughter and burning of worlds, the Exiles rarely established any permanent infrastructure in their invasion, preferring to take what they needed from a world before moving on in their invasion. Leaving shattered infrastructure and devastated populations, the civilizations of the Southern Outer Rim were left with a long and harsh recovery to regain their former standings and security.

The invasion moved as a scourge through the border worlds of the Republic, meeting little resistance beyond unorganized Jedi and overwhelmed planetary defense forces. Ravaging the Republic border worlds, the Exile armies did as they had done in the Outer Rim, plundering what materials and sentient beings they needed to fuel their war machine. They left only ruined infrastructures and devastated populations behind to begin the long and slow road to recovery. The ease of victory wouldn’t last however, as both the Republic and the Jedi Order recognized the threat that the Exiles posed, forming their own militaries and fleets to defend against the onslaught.

TBfsE86m.jpg
The war ground to a halt. Hard fought battles dragging out planet after planet, decade after decade as the two sides clashed at every turn, the overwhelming power of the Exiles slowly but inevitably pushing further into the core. Battles raged across the planets and stars, leaving few worlds of the Republic unscathed. Hyperlanes clogged with the burnt out hulks of warships, left adrift in the aftermath of massive fleet battles. What planets weren’t directly touched by the Exiles destruction were swiftly drained of resources as the Republic dumped everything into the fight, doing nothing but slow their inexorable march towards Tython.

The Battle of Tython would become known as one of the bloodiest and most ruthless battles in the war. Fleets clashed in orbit, turning the void around the planet into a graveyard of metal skeletons. The Exiles' hordes soaked the planet's sacred ground with the blood of Jedi and Republic soldiers as burning warships fell from the sky and force storms ravaged the planet. Pushing the majority of their foes into retreat, the Exiles assaulted the temple on Tython, overrunning the defenders. With the taste of victory on their lips, the last remaining original Exiles foolishly led the charge into the temple to kill the Grandmaster of the Jedi. This would be their downfall as the Jedi Grandmaster’s trap was sprung, the temple burying all who remained inside. With the last progenitors of the Exiles dead, the knowledge of how to create and control the vast armies of abominations was lost. With their armies uncontrollable or decimated by the rapidly strengthening force storms of Tython, the remaining Exiles salvaged what they could and retreated, leaving behind a vast horde of monstrosities to be consumed by the storm.

On the retreat, their armies crippled and fleets deserting, the Exiles were no longer the force of desolation and destruction that they once were — but even a cornered beast has fangs. Without any permanent bases to fall back to, they continued much as they did on their approach to Tython, burning worlds and enslaving populaces to serve as disposable armies. However, there was a newfound desperation to their actions. Fleeing through the as of yet untouched Eastern Mid Rim, the Exiles jumped around, system to system to the border of the Republic in a series of tactical retreats, often times coming under assault on a planet by the emboldened Republic and Jedi forces mere hours after their own landfall.

Hosts of untrained, scared and unwilling slave soldiers were left to hold the line while their Exile masters fled in full retreat. These armies were quickly routed and captured by the Republic, but they served their ultimate purpose of allowing their masters to escape into the freedom of the Eastern Outer Rim. It was a calculated risk by the Exile leaders, abandoning their armies to the Republic, but one that ultimately paid off. The Republic, after nearly a hundred years of pitched warfare, was tired of sending their young men and women to slaughter. With their infrastructure crumbling and destroyed, the Senate voted to end the war and disband the Grand Army of the Republic, shrinking their borders and abandoning the fringe worlds to their fates while the wealthier coreward worlds turned their attention to rebuilding.

The Ilum Deception

As the war moved into the Outer Rim, the scale shifted. Unable to recover their former numbers, the Exiles couldn’t create and maintain the desperate hordes of slave soldiers that had once filled the battlefields, though not for the lack of trying. Skirmishes and guerilla tactics became the mainstay of the war as the dwindling Exiles devised a plan to once and for all destroy the enemy that they had been plotting against for over a hundred years. Receiving secret Jedi information from an unknown benefactor on how to find and take the sacred crystal world of Ilum, the Exiles forces trickled away from the main arena of battle, leaving their weaker or less crafty brethren to die on the Jedi’s blades as they moved to strike at Ilum.

Using a ritual provided to them by their unknown benefactor, similar but sinisterly different than the process by which some of the Exiles bled their lightsabers red, the fallen Jedi poured the darkside into a massive kyber crystal. The Jedi seemingly brought everything they had to bare against the Exiles defilement of their sacred world, engaging the Exile army under the eerie red glow of the crystal. Minutes before the weapon was ready to be unleashed, a strike force made up of some of the most powerful Jedi in the Order, including the new Jedi Grandmaster himself, Syresh Lapar, cut through the defenses around the crystal to disrupt the ritual. Following a heated duel in which the Exile Warlord and his sorcerers were cut down, Syresh revealed himself to be the unknown benefactor, betraying his allies and unleashing the concentrated darkside energies from the crystal to wash across the planet, cutting down Jedi and Exiles alike.

Aftermath

w6lW6Ort.jpg
Cowering in whatever shelter they could muster, the surviving Exiles fled the battle as soon as the raw darkside power of the crystal subsided. Unorganized, selfish and petty, the Exiles were quick to part ranks without a leader powerful enough to keep them in line, preferring to seek their own power rather than answer any rallying calls. Fleeing to the Outer Rim, a few groups of Exiles began to congregate once more, though the events at Ilum led to a distinct split in the ideologies of the Exiles. Only two common goals united all of the Exiles, an unending hunger for vengeance against the Jedi, and the thirst for power, though the latter is a matter of much contention as individual Exiles vie against each other for ultimate power. With their numbers depleted much as the Jedi, few Exiles are willing to risk open warfare. Instead, assassination, ambush, and other underhanded tactics have become the primary means of warfare as they seek to once and for all end their war in the only way it can end. The complete and utter destruction of the Jedi Order and all who would call themselves Jedi.

Splintered

The Exiles could never fully be considered a unified order, merely power hungry dark siders bound together by a common enemy. Without an ever-present enemy and threat to their existence, the Jedi Order just as broken and scattered as the Exiles, there was even less holding their lust for personal power in check. Split between wishes to begin a campaign of conquest, hunt down the last remaining Jedi, build their own power and delve deeper into the dark side to rediscover the secrets of the Dark Side, as well as ideological differences on the nature of the dark side, the Exiles were far from a united force, split into different sects or Orders.

The First Sith

The Exiles remained splintered until 6903 BBY. From out of the Jedi Order, a number of powerful Warlords emerged to usurp the previous leadership and begin the process of unification. The fallen Jedi, Kal Vox and Alais Drast, were exiled from the Jedi Order following numerous dark acts by Alais culminating in the murder of Jedi Master Ryell Vao, beginning down the long path towards the dark side. Meanwhile, the Warlord Leviticus established the first Exile temple on the Deep Core world of Prakith. As Alais grew in power, however, she became Andraste, seizing the leadership over the Prakith Exiles and beginning a long campaign to reunify the rest of her lost exiled brethren.

Andraste's rise to power saw either the assimilation of the existing Warlords or their termination. Most fell in opposition to her, culminating in her declaration of herself as the Overlord of the entire faction—the first since the end of the Hundred-Year Darkness. With the Warlords firmly under her control and following her orders, she established relationships with the Outer Rim world of Mon Cala and a mutually-beneficial alliance with the Hutt Cartel. Meanwhile, her Warlords, Kravos (formerly Kal Vox) and Leviticus secured armies for her on both Shu-Torun and Mandalore, while the Warlord Siris usurped The Eternal, securing the allegiance of the mysterious Exile's military forces.

With a sufficient military force under her thumb, and a burgeoning fleet beginning to be built on Mon Cala, Andraste turned her eyes towards the Stygian Caldera. Her forces first encountered the mysterious alien species, called the Sith, on Malachor and Dromund Kaas. There, they discovered ancient maps leading them to the Sith Worlds: Korriban, Moraband, and Ziost. Seeking to settle and finally establish her empire, Andraste led her forces to the twin worlds of Korriban and Moraband, where she defeated and killed the Sith king and her followers usurped the ruling caste of Sith. Styling themselves as "Lords of the Sith," with Andraste as their Empress, the Sith Kingdom became the Sith Empire and the Jedi Exiles transformed into the Sith Order...

The Sith Order was formed from a blending of the Jedi Exiles with Sith religious and social traditions. The Sith embraced the full spectrum of their emotions, and they used anger, fear, and hatred to strengthen their connection to the dark side of the Force. But, just like in the Jedi Order and the Exiles before them, there were many ways to practice the dark side and, as a result, many sects appeared within the Sith Order. It should be noted, however, that not all Sith fell into a sect; some more well-rounded Sith represented blending of the various sects and their powers.

The Sith Order is based on Korriban and Moraband.

Sith Warriors

Sith Warriors were the strong arm of the Sith Order. They were masters of lightsaber combat and used the dark side of the Force to enhance their physical being. The warriors of the Sith often preferred direct combat and practiced techniques that allowed them to both counter or resist the Force. They were frequently seen on the front lines of the Sith armies, leading troops into battle and countering their arch-enemies: the Jedi Knights.

But Sith Warriors were far from brutes. Many were well-versed in military tactics and were among the sharpest military minds in the Empire. In terms of Force techniques, they were most commonly seen using telekinesis and lightning to bludgeon and fry their opponents respectively. Sith Warriors were also fond of the Force choke ability, allowing them to demoralize their enemies and punish those who failed them.

Sith Sorcerers

KDDrTbQ.jpg
Sith Sorcerers were the antithesis to the Sith Warriors. Rather than martial might, they were masters of the dark side of the Force. Their arcane knowledge made them deadly, allowing them to summon vast storms of lightning or use the deadly Sith magics. They also had an easier time learning the magicks of other dark side traditions, such as the Witches of Dathomir, and often researched these other traditions to increase their applications of the dark side.

Sith Sorcerers were often ambitious and cunning. Many chose to mingle within the politics of the Empire, though some, like their Warrior counterparts, preferred a life on the battlefield. Many Sith Sorcerers also chose to become Sith scientists, and, through their research, learned to unlock the once-forgotten ability to warp animal species into deadly dark side abominations. The strongest of the Sith Sorcerers could combine the science with the sorcery to use Sith alchemy, the ultimate expression of the dark side in Sith society. These masters of the dark side could taint, curse, and enchant objects and places with their vast dark powers.

Sith Assassins

Born out of the shadowy Exile Assassins of the shadow war, Sith assassins were among the most deadly sect of the Sith Order. These assassins blended both Sorcerer and Warrior tradition, mastering the martial prowess of the Warriors while using the arcane knowledge of the Sorcerers to conceal themselves, with the ultimate goal of completely eradicating the Jedi Order. Masters of stealth and the quick kill, assassins hunt down Jedi without mercy, as well as those who would support the Jedi or political enemies of the Empire.

Utterly without mercy or any shred of human decency, the Sith assassins have given themselves fully over to the dark side, savoring the brutal efficiency in which they cut down their prey. The methods of the assassin are varied, some stalking prey silently from the shadows, others causing chaos in a way to lure the Jedi to salve the wounds they cause. It is the resolve and devotion to slaying their light side brethren that truly defines an Sith assassin, not the methods by which they do so.

The Sith Code

Unlike the Jedi Exiles before them, and more akin to their enemies in the Jedi Order, the Sith Order also adheres to a code to guide them. The Sith Code was penned by the first Empress of the Sith Empire, Andraste, as a guiding creed for her followers.

Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through Passion I gain Strength.
Through Strength I gain Power.
Through Power I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
The Force shall free me.

Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
The Sith embrace their passions and believe that the "peace" championed by the Jedi Order—meaning a lack of conflict—leads to stagnation. Conflict encourages personal and societal growth and weeds out the weak, allowing only the strong to survive and lead. Similarly, Sith do not believe in denying themselves their desires and even their lusts. They are encouraged to seek power, influence, and to take what pleasures them in an outright rejection of the selflessness proclaimed by the Jedi Order.

Through Passion I gain Strength.
The Sith saw themselves as the ultimate expression of the original Jedi Exile goals: to challenge the stagnation and what they saw as the failures of the Jedi Order. They felt that the Jedi denied themselves their true natures and were afraid to embrace them. They also felt that that passion was inherent to every living being and is part of what kept them alive. Because Sith mastered their passions, they felt themselves superior to the Jedi who denied them.

Through Strength I gain Power.
The Sith believed that strength brought about strife, and strife brought about meaning. They took this belief from the red-skinned Sith, who believed that victory was hollow without strife. Without strife, one could not advance. And, if one did not advance, they would only stagnate. The Sith further believed that it was through overcoming strife that one truly harnessed their power.

Through Power I gain Victory.
The Sith did not believe in hollow victories or victory-by-any-means. Victory was only meaningful to the Sith if it was achieved by your own power, therefore proving your power over your circumstances. Victory that did not prove your superiority was temporary—an illusion. The stronger a Sith became with the Force, the more powerful they became in turn, but that power must be fought for, making the victory all the sweeter.

Through Victory my chains are Broken.
This line of the Sith Code was interpreted many different ways, depending on whom was reciting it. In general, though, it was the culmination of the rest of the Code: the belief that by not denying oneself their passions, and by using all of their power to achieve victory, one's chains were broken and they became truly free. For some Sith, this line also encouraged them to strive for perfection, and that the final victory meant breaking free of their mortal restrictions—something only the dark side could offer.

The Force shall free me.
The Sith believed that those who sought perfection through mastery and knowledge of the Force would be rewarded with ultimate freedom. They also believed that their use of the Force set them apart from other mundane members of the galactic society, as they had a greater purpose and were free to ignore the restrictions that were imposed upon others.

The Kaggath

QweKRNJ.png
The Kaggath was an ancient rite of the Sith species that was adopted by the Sith Empire upon their assimilation of Sith culture. The tradition was partially a duel, partially a large-scale campaign meant to either humiliate or kill another Sith, thereby usurping their rank. It was considered the easiest way to usurp one of the Sith Lords on the Sith Council: the major legislative body of the Empire.

The rite could be issued by any Sith, regardless of rank, for any reason and was usually initiated for a variety of reasons: to obtain the position of a higher Sith, to settle a grudge, to obtain the possessions of another Sith, or simply to slight a rival. Once the challenge was issued, the initiator would choose an arena: a single planet, a star system, or the entire galaxy. If the challenge was accepted, the contest would begin, pitting power base against power base—Sith against Sith—until a victor was determined. The challenge could be refused, of course, but Sith who did so were viewed as cowards by their peers and frequently lost their position anyways.

The Kaggath ended when one Sith was defeated or surrendered. The victor then could determine whether to execute his opponent or allow him to live on with the weight of his shame. Though Sith were known to cheat to obtain their own ends, cheating was not permitted. A Sith that violated the terms of the Kaggath was to be executed immediately. Furthermore, the Sith who prevailed in the Kaggath also had the right to destroy his opponent's name and wipe mentions of them from recorded history, theoretically eliminating any chance for the loser to leave some form of legacy.

The Imperial Military

As the Exiles began to form themselves into the Sith Empire, the forces that had sworn loyalty to the Exile Overlord Andraste were formed into a more cohesive unit with a unified ranking system and chain of command. Although this group still has numerous sub-units, all maintain a close working relationship with cross-unit command available across divisions. After the discovery of the Sith, their forces were added to those of the Empire and the entire available military force was reorganized under one leadership. War Master Kravos oversees the daily operations of the military and organizes the campaigns of the Empire at the pleasure of the Emperor.

The Imperial Military is broken down into three separate subunits as follows: Imperial Defense Force, Imperial Shock Corps, and the Imperial Foreign Legion.

In order to better facilitate inter-unit command, ranking structure for each of these groups is the same, though their specializations vary widely. Nevertheless, subordinates from one unit are required to comply with the orders of officers from another unit. Failure to do so will result in court martial and other appropriate punitive action.

Each unit within the Imperial Army has a particular role that they fill. Deployments for the Imperial Army will typically begin with deployment of the offensive "trifecta," which consists of the Shock Corps, the Sith, and the Imperial Foreign Legion. These units will seize control of the most vital components and eliminate enemy resistance, blazing a trail for the Imperial Defense Force to then secure. The Defense Force is responsible for creating roots on a planet, keeping peace, and even rebuilding in the aftermath of a battle.

The Imperial Military is based on Ziost.

Imperial Defense Force

The backbone of the Imperial Army is the Imperial Defense Force (IDF). This group is heavily armed and armored, most often responsible for securing conquered territory, defending home planets from invasion or insurgency, and enforcing law and order, the IDF is one part security force and one part national guard. Its troopers were at first made up primarily of the Shu-Torun defense force and the Serenno defense force but have grown to include open recruits and units from planets annexed or conquered.

While this force cannot be mobilized in rapid order for planetary assaults, it is more designed for long term occupation and is can create a massive obstacle to any who would attempt to assault Imperial worlds. The exception to this is the IDF's mechanized units, which are able to deploy alongside the Shock Corps to provide armored support for pushes through enemy territory and then holding that ground in the aftermath.

Imperial Shock Corps

The terror of the Imperial Military, the Imperial Shock Corps are the elite world-breaking force of the Empire. Capable of rapid deployment across the galaxy, the Shock Corps is responsible for conquest of fresh territory. The Shock Corps is the first to go in, secure beachheads, and hit the enemy when they are strongest. It is the Shock Corps that breaks the backbone of the enemy in order for the IDF to secure the area behind them.

As the name implies, the Shock Corps are responsible for shock and awe operations. Ferried rapidly around by the Imperial fleet and deployed by dropship and drop pod into the middle of combat, they can always be found where the fighting is thickest. They are composed entirely of volunteers and are respected and feared across the galaxy.

The Shock Corps is entirely light infantry whose operators can function in larger groups as shock infantry and in smaller groups as special operators. It is not uncommon to see a single fire team deployed deep behind enemy lines and then see those same men deployed at the company level a few days later to seize a critical docking bay. It is this diversity and their extensive training that makes the Shock Corps so notorious.

Imperial Foreign Legion

The Imperial Foreign Legion is one of the most notable units within the Imperial Army. Made up of mercenaries, bounty hunters, and any others who choose to take up arms for the Empire, this unit has the same order of battle as the rest of the army, but are given a great deal more leeway than other units. They are allowed to take contracts outside of the Empire so long as their first loyalty is to the Empire itself.

Members of this unit are allowed to don whatever armor and weapons they choose, though they are required to wear a rank insignia on their person while conducting military operations for the Empire.

The Foreign Legion sees deployments that are by far the most diverse. Members could see themselves deployed side by side with the Shock Corps on the frontline, performing counter-insurgency or homeworld defense in Imperial space, or even performing disavowable black operations out of uniform.

Because the Foreign Legion has such a strange training procedure, each candidate is expected to have military training before entering. A six week course of tests and instruction fills in the gaps in the candidate's knowledge and places them in rigorous scenarios to ensure they are up to field operations. Those who fail any one of the tests are immediately removed from the program.

The Black Hand

Not to be confused with the Black Hand, a band of religious fanatics devoted to Andraste and the dark side of the Force, the purpose of the Black Hand is to serve as an assassination and intelligence organization under direct control of the The Eternal. The Black Hand primarily works in the shadows, completing objectives in secret and disappearing before anyone realizes what happens. It was created for the new Sith Order and meant to be used by the Emperor when needed. The Black Hand is meant to be a lethal weapon that shows no mercy.

Its duties can range from assassination, blackmail, spying, to bombings and more. The Black Hand is willing to do anything needed in order to complete their mission. It was created after Siris had killed the previous Eternal, using the resources acquired from the previous Exile Warlord. The Black Hand does not care for fame or for glory; their task is only to eliminate Jedi, political enemies, and any other high value targets that will be opposition to the new Sith Order.

They will serve the Emperor whenever asked, but The Eternal will always maintain direct control over their operations. Upon entering the Black Hand, an initiate will let go of his past life. It will be as if they are reborn again, completely dedicated to serving the Black Hand. Once someone joins, they are in it for life and become entirely dedicated to the success of the Sith Order. Desertion and betrayal are met with death.

The Black Hand is based on Abafar.

Sith Empire Ranks

Sith Order Ranks

Sith Knight

The rank of Exile apprentice was reorganized into the rank of Sith Knight, so named to be a mockery of their enemies: the Jedi Knights. Sith Knights formed the bulk of the Sith Order, fully trained in the ways of the dark side of the Force and in every way a match for their Jedi brethren. Sith Knights exist in every sect and carried out important missions for the Empire, even leading foot soldiers into battle.

Unlike the Exile apprentices of old, Sith Knights had a more rigid and standardized training at the Sith Academy on Korriban. Moreover, they were more numerous than their fragmented predecessors. As a result, Sith Knights were a feared force in the galaxy and brought with them the rage of a century of exile against their enemies.

Sith Master

Masters of darkness, the Sith Masters stand as the undisputed masters of the dark side of the Force. Even when compared to other dark side sects, Sith Masters have no rivals, owing to the merging of Exile tradition with that of the Sith Purebloods. Their skills as warriors, sorcerers, and assassins have shown their power is to be respected by fear or jealous admiration. Knights dare not defy their Masters before achieving similar power of their own, for the Sith Masters have far surpassed them in power.

Those who reach the rank of Master have built their power through years of intense training training and with a more natural inclination towards the dark side of the Force. They are strong-willed, bending the Force to their whims in order to finally exact their revenge on the Jedi who once cast them out. Masters are willing to wield their power in order to achieve their own goals and ambitions.

Sith Lord

The title of Sith Lord was conferred upon the most powerful of the Sith Masters: those who wielded the dark side effortlessly and with tremendous power. A Sith Lord was an extremely revered being in Sith culture, seen as gods among the Pureblood Sith, and respected by those outside the Sith species for their immense political clout and dark side power. Sith Lords were not bound to serve other Lords, save their Master: the Emperor. Instead, they commanded the legions of Sith Masters and Sith Knights beneath them.

All Sith Lords were given the option and the honor of taking upon the "Darth" title. This tradition saw a new Lord chose another name, adding the Darth prefix before it to indicate their stature. This practice was done to show a giving up of their former selves and the embrace of their new superiority among the Sith.

The most powerful members of the Empire were chosen by the Emperor to sit upon the Sith Council, which acted much like the Warlords of the old Jedi Exiles, but with a more unified vision. Each member of the Sith Council controlled an aspect of the Sith Empire (i.e., the military, intelligence, sorcery, etc.) and, together, they legislated the law of the Sith Empire. However, all ultimately answered to the Emperor, who held sole power in the Empire. The Emperor could appoint them or dismiss them at will. He or she could also appoint a Dark Lord of the Sith to oversee the Council.

Emperor/Empress

The Emperor was the uncontested ruler of the Sith Empire and the leader of the Sith Order. He or she also frequently took the title of Emperor or Empress if the title suited them. The Emperor was the most powerful Sith in the galaxy, equal in power to the Jedi Grand Master, and leagues above even the greatest of the Sith Lords in terms of knowledge and power. The Emperor ruled from the political capital of the Empire, Ziost, but also had exclusive rights to enter the most sacred of places on the religious world of Moraband.

The title of Emperor was not conferred by heredity, as was the case in most empires. Instead, it was a title fought for, usually by way of Kaggath. In this way, a younger, stronger Lord could usurp the Emperor and claim the title of ruler for his or herself. Should a Emperor die outside of Kaggath and with no clear successor, the Sith Council would choose a new Emperor, usually by allowing the strongest among them to declare themselves and duel for the right to inherit the throne.

Imperial Military Ranks

Lieutenant

Forming up the backbone of the Imperial Army, the lieutenants are the officers who are turned to by the higher-ups to "get jobs done." Typically assigned to lead platoons of up to forty men, these soldiers are the building blocks that make sure the pyramid of the Empire stands firmly. Lieutenants must earn their position of command and are not entrusted with a platoon until they have proven themselves.

Commander

Leading battalions of up to six-hundred forty men, these officers are relied upon to oversee smaller campaigns, command large warships, and shift large groups of soldiers around to see the ends of the Empire accomplished. Much responsibility is given to these officers and as such, much more is expected. Commanders are judged the most harshly with rewards being greatest and punishments being harshest. These individuals have proven themselves in combat and have names and reputations that are recognized throughout the Empire.

War Master/Supreme Overseer

The War Master and Supreme Overseer handle the operations of the Imperial military. These two are responsible for maintaining the assets of the military, planning campaigns, and representing the military on the Sith Council. These positions require a high amount of responsibility and failure is reportable to the rest of the Sith Council.

Black Hand Ranks

Assassin

The assassins make most of the Black Hand and can be both Force-sensitive and non-Force sensitive. The assassin is a specific roles, meant for the ones that prefer to work in the shadows and take out targets silently rather than go in guns blazing, as in other sects. Darkness is their greatest alley and they will use it to hunt down Jedi and take out their political enemies.

The Eyes

The Eyes are strictly made up of non-Force users and are meant to be the eyes and ears of the Black Hand. They are trained in stealth and other desirable attributes and are tasked with the collection information for blackmail or other purposes to aid the Sith Order.

Wraiths

There are only two positions for the title of Wraith: the Eternal’s most loyal and trusted assassins. They oversee the most dangerous of missions for the organization. To become a Wraith, one must have proved themselves of the utmost skill at their job and have seniority in the Order. After capturing the attention of the Sith Lord, The Eternal would call upon them and deem if they are truly worthy of it or not. They will spread the Eternal’s influence and recruit men for the Eternal. Wraiths are usually Force-sensitive, but there are exceptions.

The Head

The Head is the leader of the Black Hand and is one of the Sith Lords who sits on the Sith Council. He or she is appointed and/or dismissed at the pleasure of the Emperor. Historically, the title has been held by the one called The Eternal—a moniker coined during the Hundred-Year Darkness, but this does not have to remain the case.
